My old Pico 4 got an update recently to support the motion trackers. That's nice. I hope Pico stays in business and comes out with another worthwhile next gen headset.
Hi Sebastian, I pre-ordered the Ultra about 10 days ago and was supposed to get it around the 20th. I got it however already last week. Bought it here in Thailand via the Picostore on Shopee. Got the trackers as well. Haven't got a game for them yet. I was like you a bit disappointed in the Pico4 Ultra, but now after six days of use I really like the headset. In many ways more than my Quest3. The controllers have a stronger feedback, the field of view is much bigger, I even have the idea that PCVR with the Pico4 Ultra works better than with the Quest3, for sure much better than with the old Pico4. Yesterday I shot some 3D pictures with it and it was great. I like the headset as it is. I don't change anything on it. The only extra are my inlay lenses, which I had in my Pico4. And I bought a 45watt charger, which charges the headset in a short time. I don't know how fast, but about 30% in 10 minutes.
I'll be waiting until Quest-4 and Pico-5 before getting back into VR. I had some previous headsets but stopped using them due to being disappointed with the display quality.
This is a tough one for me as I love my Pico4 and this looks like a great device but for existing Quest3 owners it is a very tough sell. Other than better pass through cameras and motion trackers it just feels like too little too late. If only it had a small resolution bump or oled screens id be pouncing on this one but I'm still on the fence. I wish them luck though as it looks great and is a very well engineered piece of kit overall. Definitely a good contender for anyone who doesn't own a Q3 yet (...I may still get one anyway! :-D ).
Regarding the controller differences at 03:48, what I notice is that they slightly changed the position of the menu and "power" button on the Pro Controllers. Looks like they'll be easier to reach with bigger hands. that kinda is my only gripe with the normal Pico4 controllers, as those buttons are kinda uncomfortable to reach for me since I use the AMVR silicone straps with my Pico 4 controllers and thus I really have to bend my thumb down and in to reach them.
I've got mine on pre order, I could have gone for the quest 3 but to be honest standalone vr games are the least interesting aspect as I generally play pcvr titles. Having already owned a pico4 and having used my sons quest 3 I just prefer the Pico 4 system when it comes to pcvr and the quest 3 also gave me eye strain which was annoying.
Your joy in sharing VR content really comes thru. Meta's superior pancake lens tech seems hard for others to match. even a year later... Should have referenced a review of alternative face gasket, or do not Pico 4 gaskets work?
A couple other detailed youtube reviews have indicated that Pico 4 and Ultra facial interfaces are interchangeable, so I'm a happy bunny, because I have a number of Pico 4 addons that will work with my Ultra when it arrives, including my BoboVR magnetic rear battery holder.. 🙂
For a headset to grab a big chunk of the Quest 3 market it will need be significantly better in a lot of areas. It would need to feel next level in terms of visuals for example. Not sure this is it.
You were in my dream last night, we chatted about the early days of VR and you were testing out a new tracking system. When i left you, you were picking up a second hand package from someone who showed up to your place in a car. I woke up and never got to see what it was...what was it? Lol
To my eyes, the Pico4 lenses are slightly better than Quest3, but ONLY IF you are using an after-market facial gasket which allows you to get much closer to the lenses. The stock interface creates a big gap to accommodate glasses wearers (regardless of the included spacer), which greatly hurts the FoV and edge-to-edge clarity. I really hate that manufacturers still do this, getting close to the lenses is SO important in all headsets. The default should be as-close-as-possible with an option for additional eye relief as needed. The Quest3 LCD displays are definitely much better, however. Pico4 has good pixel density but noticeably flat and lifeless colors, lacking brightness and vibrance
I agree, the Pico 4 lenses are much clearer when you get your eyes closer to them, and with a significantly wider FOV. The original facial interface (looking the same in the Ultra specs), is awful IMHO, dramatically reducing the overall visual quality.
I will still stay with my Quest 3. Pico refuses to distribute the headsets in the US, so with that, I don't even look at reviews of them. There is one listing of a Pico 4 on Amazon, and I don't think they even come from within the US. Seller is Japanese.

I feel the same. I got a Quest 3 a few months ago because Pico didn't announce anything early enough. This would have been my first choice otherwise.
I ordered one lets hope the software gets better support updates
How is the performance in MSFS vs Pico 4? Is there benefits from better chip?
Wich 3th party interfaces are the best for Pico4/4 Ultra?
Do the prescription lenses work with both the Pico 4 and the Ultra?
Yes.
Yes

I'm interested in how the WiFi 7 works with PC VR???
@@PixelWorldVR it will give you a bit less latency, that's all. Not a game changer unfortunately.
Thanks for the info ☺️

In my region only the first 750 orders got the free trackers. Bloody cheap-skates. I missed it because it sold out almost immediately. Grrr.

I wish they sold the trackers for the Quest 3.
I'm looking forward to tracker content
