So, if you’re like me and need to make one of these chairs and you have everything except the quilt batting- and the thought of going to the craft store AGAIN makes you want to punch things- then I am here to tell you that three or four layers of paper towel glued to the sides and back works just as well!! (Who’s gonna know??) For the chair seat, I used a kitchen sponge (clean, I’m not a sadist) cut down to size for the chair seat. Just a helpful tip!!
Exactly, i was also thinking to use kitchen sponge. What a coincidence 🤭
That's a great idea - using foam from a new sponge. You can also use felt instead of quilt batting to cover the foam board. I made Ara's little chair out of thick cardboard and then covered it with felt, using only the tacky glue (I never have much luck with hot glue!!) And then I did the rest of it by following Ara's instructions, and it turned out well. It's a good idea to look at what you already have around the house before you buy anything. Love from Amanda Jones in Australia
Thank you very much for the tips❤
Great tip! Yes, nobody's going to know once it's all put together! I also like to use the thin sheet foam wrapping stuff that is used in packing to protect fragile items. I save it every time I buy/receive something that it's packed in. It's easy to cut with scissors and tacky glue will hold it to foam board or wood. But your idea for using paper towels is really the best, since most households have them handy!
@@amandajones6481,yes, felt makes a great cushiony effect under fabric!!
I copied the pieces at 200% on my copier and made a small chair out of 1 1/2 inch pink insulating foam for my soon to be 2 year old granddaughter. Turned out fabulous. Thanks Ara.
That's awesome! I have often thought of doing something like that too just to see if its possible! Good to know that it is!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I loved it and it was so easy and fun to follow. I didn't have the foam board and quilt batting so I replaced them with cardboard and felt, but my chair still turned out great.
Great tutorial! It took my friend, Nancy @littletreasuresbynancy 4 hours on our livestream to make her first one but she was so determined to use PLAID fabric that getting the pattern lined up was all part the challenge! Her chair turned out so cute!
Thank you!! I need to go check out her live stream and say hi! Lining of lines of any fabric will definitely take some time! ;)
Thank you Ara. I just made the chair and found out it's not as easy as it looks when you do it. I am new to this craft, but the chair turned out great. I am really happy with it and now will be making the ottoman to match. Thanks again for your great videos, I had no idea I wanted to do miniatures until I came across your wonderful channel.
I always enjoy your video tutorials sooo much. Thank you for sharing this awesome armchair tut!!🌹
This is an awesome tutorial, thank you! Really looking forward to making it! Perhaps a matching ottoman next? xx
I worked all weekend trying to make an upholstered chair for an American Girl Doll....your video did the trick! Thank you thank you
This is awesome! I've been looking at how to try and upcycle plastic dollhouse furniture and make it look more realistic by adding fabric. This is a great tutorial!
Thank you so much for this. I followed along with your instructions at 1/6 scale and I just couldn't believe what I achieved...wow! So now I'm in the process of making a three seater couch to match plus another single seater. I have copied your templates onto cardboard so they will last longer.
I hope this is as easy as you make it look. I really appreciate the free download. Also love your videos. Your instructions are so good!
Thank you for this tutorial and pattern! I was searching all over the internet for an armchair for a doll that wasn't a standard size, but with the downloadable template, I can make the chair to fit her! I'm so excited and inspired to get to work :)
Les découpes sont faites ds quelle matière.
Just watched this about 187 times making the chair and it was super worth it! Thank you!!
Very good very pretty nice great u can use them as pin cushions too... Love it
Fun idea Debbie!!
I have made this chair but I printed it out on A3 paper and it fitted a Barbie sized doll perfectly
Loved how you showed us step by step with alot of patience!!!! Thank u
I'm grateful for your instructions and patterns. Thank you so much.
I would love to see a round tufted ottoman, with fringe, but for a 1/4 size BJD. I love how you make your projects understandable. I can’t wait to try this chair in a 1/4 size
So cute! This is an EXCELLENT tutorial!! I followed along with ease and made a chair for my house. Turned out well. I used medium sized wood beads for the legs- a little different but it works! Thank you!
Fantastic!! If you share it on instagram be sure to tag me! I'd love to see!
Starting my dollhouse renovation soon. I'm saving this as this is exactly the kind of chair I'd like to have in the living room. Thanks!
WOW- This 'tute' is awesome. Beautifully demonstrated. I want to make some of these for my twp Gr8 grand daughters, they are too small to play with them at this time...but my daughter-their Gramma- will save them forthe girls until they can. I'll watch down from heaven. Thank you kindly for sharing.
I am so glad to hear it will be helpful for you. I have a piece of dollhouse furniture that was my grandmothers and it is my dearest treasure. I know they will appreciate your hard work for them💕💕
Thanks Ara, that was a really fun video. Your chair turned out perfectly and you made it seem so easy. I love your choice of fabric too :)
I am so glad you enjoyed it!!! I hope it is easy!! That's also why I wanted to include a template so anyone who wants to try it has a starting point :) Thank you
Thanks Joanne..made a 144th scale dollhouse for my 1:12th dollhouse nursery..so cute...got the house full of furniture from a miniaturist club I belonged to...wish I could send you a photo. Trish😍
Sounds adorable!! You can always post pictures to my FB page that is also called "Bentley House Minis" I love seeing what you guys create!!
Love! Thank you for the template. I fabric the loose pieces then glue it all together at the end.
Your videos are really helpful for me to make props for miniature set for my video production business. Thanks a lot.
just found this, I love it, the first one turned out perfect thanks to your easy to follow instructions, looking forward to seeing more of what you create
Thank you so much for sharing. My cousin had a Doll House Shope and made beautiful commissioned mansions. When he was in Florida, Disney wanted to commission him to make a miniature Disney Land. He had to turn them down as he was getting older and it would require him to live forever. lol. lI have worked with materials for most of my life and would love to make this chair. I love this vintage wing backs and I am sitting in one right now. Thank for the download. Hugs. Oh, by the way, I am vintage also.
Wow thats an amazing story but I understand that would have been a HUGE undertaking! I hope you have fun trying out the chair tutorial. Several people have said it worked well for them :)
This tutorial is INCREDIBLE! I just made one a little smaller than 1:24 scale and it's so stinkin' cute!
excellent video. best tutorial I've seen yet. very precise and easy to follow. thank you.
Really great editing ! And you're pretty hilarious. Well done.
❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Haha thank you💕
Thank you. You have mentioned very nicely. And thanks for the template you provided to print. Loved the video. Thanks again.
Someone used chopsticks as legs because they're already tapered and there wood! you can cut them at any length you'd like
Oh yes that's a great idea!
@Lèmon Lēe I ordered these for Walmart delivery and they substituted them for fried rice 🤷🏻♀️😂🤣 I couldn’t stop laughing.
Thank you for making this so simple. Im going to make this then try to change the template a little to make some art deco and mid century pieces. I love your videos. Thank you!
I find it to be really easy to adapt and I hope it works well for you!! Thank you for the kind words
I am so impressed. I've been struggling with trying to make this chair and just couldn't figure it out. You have made it - not easy - but doable and easy to follow! You are a great creator and a great teacher. Happy to sub!!! :D
I am so glad that its been helpful for you! If you share it online be sure to let me know :) I'd love to see!
thank you very much for your demonstration.....amazing....MD.ALBAN,Tamer from Turkey....
Thanks for sharing on how to make this chair. Also for sharing the template for it will definitely be giving it a try! More videos like this please.
Susan Pizzio so glad you enjoyed! Let me know how the template and tutorial work for you!
Thank you so much! What a great tutorial! Especially for me, someone with absolutely NO experience in creating miniatures; this video makes me feel that I can do it and accomplish what I set out to do. Subscribing, most definitely!
Thank you and welcome to the channel! Happy creating!
This is a great tutorial! I have been looking for living room furniture with great fabric, and this is the solution! Thanks so much!
Youre a good teacher. Thanks for making it easy.
Thank you for the kind words! I am glad it was helpful!
Great video. For the edges, you could also use a contrasting piping like a braid or ribbon.
Very cute and yes I am going to try this but will casters and pillows to the finished chair, love seat, and sofa. Ahh... who knows maybe even a ottoman too. lol Gonna have some fun, I already have everything I need too, makes it easy. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day
Lots of other techniques out there..... I keep coming back to this one. Easy to follow. Clean, crisp finish. ❤👍
Thank for letting me know ;) That makes me feel wonderful!!
That chair looks so comfy
I have used this pattern a lot. This weekend I shrunk it down to make quarter scale and it still worked great! Thanks for all you do!
I saw your post! They look so cool and I am so glad this pattern has been so helpful!
I was looking for an Chesterfield chair. I think your chair is a great base for that. Thank you for The template and the tutorial 👍🏻
Hey Carla, have you made a chesterfield chair? I would love to see tips for this as I want to try making one too 🌸
@@Chloepickle15
Het Chloe, not yet. When I have time I’ll give it a try and let you know.
I need to make a pair of slightly over stuffed, oversized chairs for a diorama idea I have. Gonna be watching this video again about 390x and making the pair of them about half the size of these, I guess? Scale is not something I am a master of. Lol I could 3d print but it's just not the same. It's too 'cold feeling.' I may see if I can find a decent chair to print and then build it up with material. That's another possiblity. Either way, your channel is the first place I came when I knew I needed to create something for my miniature diorama.
I use Frey Check ,it keeps fabric from the edges unraveling . I let it dry first . I used it on all kinds of fabrics . Thank you
Great tip! I need to get some!
Thank you! This is by far the best tutorial I have seen yet on upholstering a side chair. I am going to make several now that you have demonstrated the process so well. I also appreciate how careful you are with the work you are creating. Attention to detail makes such a difference. The chairs are wonderful.
I am so glad you like the tutorial and I hope you enjoy crafting your chairs!! -Ara
I'm looking to see how you upholstered this as I have a half scale one that I am having heaps of trouble with! This is perfect!
I love love how you make everything looks so great with just some cheap supplies. thank you so much.
So glad you enjoyed the video! I think minis are more fun when they don't always cost a fortune ;)
Thank you it was very enlightening . A BIG BIG thankyou for the template too .I need a chair like this for my Santa . I will send you a pic . Have a great day .
This is an awesome video and template that I have modified to make into a Prince chair, thank you for sharing this and your other videos. I used to do miniatures many, many years ago, long before internet. So thankful for technology and people like you who share their creativity. Aloha
I'm so glad it was helpful!

Thank you Daniela!
This is a lovely little make! Can’t wait to try it xxxxxx
You’ve explained this so very well, seriously the best tutorial I’ve seen regarding diy dollhouse armchair ☺️ well done and thank you!
Thank you! I am so glad you found it helpful!
Love your chair and excellent way to do it, you made everyone so easy to follow you, what about to do a dinning room chair? and a bed? Thank you so very much 💝
I found that cutting the fabric on the bias (to cover arm edges) works much easy when gluing it down
Fabulous & such lovely fabrics too, Ara. Thanks for making a DIY minis tutorial that's well-explained & super-easy without sacrificing style.
Thank you Joanne! It's always good to hear that my tutorials came out coherent!! So glad you enjoyed!
Really well done video ! Thank you so very much for sharing this with us ❤

Thank you so much😊 And welcome to the channel!!
The chair looks incredible! Great job! I want to try this!👏👏👏
You totally should! They are a fun build ;)
Just awesome and saves so much money making yourself thanks.
Saludos desde Barcelona, España. Precioso vídeo y buenísima explicación. Un proyecto que aré nada más terminar el que estoy haciendo. Lo de las pulgadas para los europeos muy complicado pero con la plantilla espectacular ya tengo los cms. Muchas gracias.
Finished the little upholstered arm chair. Love it! It may be too small for the incoming doll that it was intended for, but if that happens to be the case I'll just enlarge the pattern pieces some and make it again. It was so much fun to make that I won't mind doing it again -- once the intended recipient arrives.
Fantastic!!! This pattern can be blown up to even Barbie size and hold up well.... any larger than that and you may have to reinforce the foam board somehow. I am so glad you enjoyed the process! -Ara
@@BentleyHouseMinishow do you make it barbie size newbie miniature person here just found this rabbit hole
🥰💕Great video, can’t wait to make some chairs. Very informative & simple to follow thank you. 🥰💕🧶🧵👍👍
So glad it was helpful for you!!
Thank you for a great video and print out. I am about to make first miniature anything lol starting with book nook. loving all of your vids!!!
Just discovered your wonderful channel. I made a lounge suite very similar to this years ago and upholstered it with a stretch velvet material. It made doing the curves very easy and looked amazing.
Welcome to the channel! Thank you I love trying out new materials!
Thank you! I built one today by following your instructions. It wasn't perfect but came out really good!
Thank you so much for the template and the tutorial! Great job!
Thank you for sharing, I've been wanting to make a chair like this.
This was a great video thank you for posting this tutorial! 🎉
Thank you for teaching me something great ! You are awesome !
Thank you for this, I have just spent a few hours making one, am now waiting for the legs to dry. Very good pattern and video, I managed to paste the sides the wrong way, but overall was very happy
Haha, me too!
I love this chair. Will be great for my new haunted dollhouse.
Fabulous and easy(ish) tutorial. Thank you.
Beautiful ♥️ really I love miniatures forniture ♥️♥️🌹🌹
Ok... I wasn't going to sub to your Channel because all I'm interested in mainly is just the furniture miniatures. But then at the very end of the video when you're "so done filming" I just thought oh my gosh, I have to subscribe to this person! I really enjoy your furniture and dollhouse miniatures.
Haha well I am very glad you enjoyed it and decided to sub. Even if you don't watch every video I do love to create furniture and they pop up every now and then! Typically with a free pattern ;)
Very good video.....looking forward to making a chair.
I'm just mid way through making the Ellie chair. You make it look easy. They should come with a hashtag : #chooseyourbattingwisely. If I die from glue toxicity it's all your fault Ara 😂😂
You find the best fabric. Do you look at your pieces, after you've finished gluing the fabric, and just go "Wow.. That looks good."? Because that's what I found myself doing at least 3 times, or more, while watching this.. haha
Lol thank you! I made a habit of always walking by the discount fabric bin before leaving the craft store and scooping up any small prints they have! It's left me with several great options when I need them ;)
@@BentleyHouseMinis I'll have to start doing that. Thanks for the tip.
THE MOST EFFICIENT TUTORIAL I HAVE EVER SEEN!!😻😻 they have templates and show us how to do it😼 super efficient!🤍 thanks and keep it up
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Great videos! Another thing: If your chair is a bit wobbly after the glue on the legs dries, you can get a sheet of sandpaper, set it down, and sand all four leg bottoms at once. I've done that a few times with 1/6 furniture.
Great tip! Thank you :)
Amazing tutorial. And your method is simple but looks amazing. I will post my finished chair once done!
Looking forward to seeing it!
how do we do that, post a picture of our work here?
This is great! Thanks so much for the video
Excellent tutorial! Thanks!
A fancy Victorian lounge chair would be really cool. I think that what there call the couches with one arm and no back. All fancy in red velvet.
I will add it to my video idea list! Thanks!
Very cute chair! I wish I had room for one in my dollhouse.. I would love to learn how to make kitchen chairs 🤗
Thank you Nabil! I've got your suggestion on my list ;)
This is a great tutorial. I would love to see an antique sewing machine with the table
Great suggestion! I will add it to my idea list ;) Thanks!
Your tutorial is the best and thanks for the template I can now make a arm chair
Lovely! Thank you so much for the tutorial and pattern! 💕
You’re welcome 😊
Dear Ara, thanks so much for showing us how to make your little armchair. I need to make the same chair but in 1:24 scale. Should I just get your template printed out to the 1/2 size scale or is there some way to draw it by hand? Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia ❤❤❤
Hahaha! Where were you two years ago? Thank you so much for this tutorial! 😀
Sorry it took me a few years to get started on my minis lol. You are welcome and I am glad it can be handy!
That was very impressive! Thank you!!!
These are beautiful!!! Have you ever done them in 1:6 scale for barbie size?
Ahhh got the right scale! Can't wait to try this.
