Not to mention the theme, size, and nature of this item is shrouded in mystery and legend. It's the largest known medieval manuscript in human history.

Calling it an evil book was probably just a way to really sell the book, considering it worked as it ended up in the possession of a Holy Roman emperor. This book's reputation mirror's the reverence of Holy Spear Tip of Longinus. Which you should totally talk about at some point, perhaps for Easter. That object walked and talked more than money!

A single monk would need the backing of some benefactor to complete such an undertaking. Think of the work that just went into producing the pages alone. 160 animals to be slaughtered, skinned and prepared. Everything had a cost, ink, bindings etc. Book binding was a craft in itself. Fascinating.

I know a story about this it goes....
Necronomicon ex Mortis, The Book of the Dead. Bound in human flesh and inked in blood, this ancient Sumerian text contained bizarre burial rites, funerary incantations and demon resurrection passages. It was never meant for the world of the living. The book awoke something dark in the woods. It took Linda, and then it came for me. It got into my hand and it went bad, so I lopped it off at the wrist. But that didn't stop it, it came back. Big time.

My thoughts are that this man was a hermit who spent his life working on this book only to have it stolen by some shady monastery and monks who then accused this man of working with the devil so no one would hear his cry for justice for having his book stolen which clearly seems to be a book mixed with knowledge on the forces of dark and light, health and sickness, satan and heaven as much of the medieval age was. This seems most likely to me and I'm even a Christian who believes in the supernatural but I'm also not credulous or superstitious. either

There is a sacred symbolism used within those pages that when understood, reveals a very Sophisticated and technological Part of History that is being suppressed, even today. Using the "monster" & using the word "cursed" kept even the bright minds from seeing what is seen by those who have been privileged to experience by Sight and Spirit.

For all the idiots saying the picture of the devil looks weird and funny. It’s because it’s a long of centuries ago painting in a book. If it were modern it would’ve looked different. The picture depicts of what the sin of the devil is, why do you think he has two tongues when your suppose to have one? Father of (Lies) is the reason. You have one tongue to speak and two ears to hear, think about it. His body represents a dragon when most religions depicts the devil as a evil dragon and dragons don’t have two tongues, but claws and fangs as teeth. Know what your laughing at before you do because dark forces are nothing to play with. Stay bless and God bless.

I don’t know whether you can see posts I commented on here on YT but a woman was telling me about judging. I told her notice how everyone wants to say don’t judge me don’t judge me when clearly all judge and now look at our world. People are crazy as hell now and they want to twist the Bible into what suits their needs. Chaos is everywhere now. The Bible says judge righteously. And she couldn’t come at me because scripture is scripture.
A satanist girl told me there are no such things as genders like…. Total brainwashed.
An atheist told me God isn’t real but I told him how come the Bible is speaking of things “TODAY”? He answered and said “I’m a atheist”. The people who are nonbelievers just sound so illogical now.

Many dragons do have two tongues. Dragons can have anything as they aren't real.

The depiction of the devil in this codex gigas seems more like ludicrous satire more than some sort of ominous representation. Devil seems like a wacky cartoon of the boogeyman dreamed up by the creators of Ren and Stimpy instead of some sort of darkly medieval rendering. Belial from the Fantasia animated movie seems closer to scary then the codex gigas Satan.

In learning all knowledge, the monk learned of unfaith. When he believed he knew everything, or held everything in his possession, the Creator was no longer real. All the darkness was simply that, whatever that may be, and so the devil was merely that. The devil believes he's God, and therefore he's the devil. God knows he's the devil, and therefore he is God.
