  • having an issue adjusting the water softening system in Beko DF05X11X. After following the the user's manual steps just start a washing program. How can I adjust the water softening system in this dishwasher? I finally found out that you need to PRESS the key START/CANCEL for A FEW SECONDS until the End light shines red. Then you do the adjustments. They come preset to the setting that is most suitable in the area (or at least that's what they told me) so chances are that you do not need to do it.

Someone or even Beko should do a tutorial video to set this dishwasher up for salt and rinse aid, i imagine a lot of people have searched.

Sorry for my bad english... For water hardness press start button and prog 1. For Brill press 1/2 button and prog 1. Beko manual is corrupt.... The procedure is the same but with 1/2 button and inverted... Very easy if we were told....

Turn the mode to off first...then press and hold start stop button for few seconds.while holding the start stop button, change the positions acording to the water hardness level in your user manual..press start stop button to save the settings....now switch off and then switch on....this method tested in several types of beko diswasher...

Just bought it. Mine goes to the correct indicator (dry) but when I press the Start button, the Programme Selection Key does not ‘rotate in 5 steps’ as stated. It doesn’t rotate at all! Nothing happens.

Setting the water hardness level/ Adjusting the water softening system
With thanks to all previous posts, which helped me to puzzle this out after some days of trying, here is the step by step guide which Beko should have given us:
You will have already tested your tap water so that you know which level of harness you need to set. Have to hand for reference:
    • your user manual, with the paragraph on “adjusting the water softness system” (in mine this is on page 16 )
    • the diagram with instructions for the adjustment (in mine this is on an extra sheet, the “Quick Guide”)
    • the table showing the five different levels of hardness along with English, German & French descriptors and showing the symbols/indicators for each level (in mine this is also on the extra sheet). These indicators are also the symbols for the machine’s functions cycle.
    1. Hold down the “start /pause /cancel” (SPC ) button while you turn the programme knob clockwise / to the right for one stop
    2. Keep the SPC button pressed for a few seconds, then release it and press it down again. You should see illuminated in red a hyphen - and below this the symbol for washing. This (as indicated in the table) is also the symbol for Level 1
    3. If your test showed your water hardness to be Level 1, press SPC to confirm this level in the machine’s memory
    4. If your water hardness is at a higher level, keep the SPC button pressed down and turn the programme knob slowly clockwise/to the right until you reach the symbol and level shown in the table. For my machine, at Level 5, I had to turn it to the fifth stop, so that the symbols for washing, drying and end were all both illuminated and flashing.
    5. If, when you turn the programme knob, the symbols do not change / or the machine starts to run, turn the programme knob off and start again. You’ll get it right eventually!
    6. When you have reached the right level, press SSC for a few seconds to confirm.
    7. Turn the programme knob to the OFF position.
Beko: I will accept an invitation to the beautiful city of Bucharest to help your translator turn your user manual into comprehensible English.

Hi thanks for your explanation, I was getting mad trying to figure out how to settle the water softening level. But my next doubt is: how do I settle the rinse aid level? Instructions in my language are not clear.... Thanks again for your help.

@@matteoemme1414 Hi Matteo. I agree this is also tricky! It is similar to the water hardness level, but this time using the Half Load function button with the Programme Selection Knob. The indicators are the same symbols as for water hardness and machine functions, but used differently : in my manual there is a table on page 31 which shows that the wash indicator is level 1 - one dose of Rinse Aid - and all the symbols flashing is level 5 = none! Try: 1) hold down Half load button 2) turn Programme knob to right one stop while holding down, and keep half load button pressed for some seconds. 3) Release and then press down again the Half Load button, wait until a symbol appears and use the Programme Selection knob to choose the right one. 4) Then press Start/pause/cancel to save your setting.
I found I had to try this several times before it actually happened, and I don't know why! I also found it necessary to turn off the table function setting so that I could see what was happening. However, there is probably no need to change the Rinse Aid selection unless you are having problems of the kind shown in Section 8 "Troubleshooting" in the user's manual. Good Luck.
