No better way to have an evening. Sound of thunderstorms outside, a beer in my hand and enjoying one of the best damn homecooks do her thing. You're awesome Sarah!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
My dad used to fry shredded onion and cabbage in bacon drippings until slightly golden brown. He did it in a cast iron skillet on a medium/low flame so it didn't scorch (that will make it bitter). He only added S&P....no egg or flour. It was delicious!
Sara I love cabbage. This is going to go so well with our pork ribs off the grill. I am going to use butter flavor crisco to fry in. The little suggestions for umping up the flavor, like adding the onion juice, is so helpful.
~~~ WOW! There's a ton of water in cabbage. 92% water, to be exact. And, when you put any salt on cabbage, it makes all that water run out, etc. Wringing out MOST of the water makes the patties very different vs having all the water inside. Looks delicious! 😋 Have a great week!
PS. I love cabbage used in any way. Research how very, very much cabbage HELPS ANYONE'S GUT. It's absolutely amazing what it does. You'll NEVER need another Roland or Tums again! 😃
Im from Alabama and we love cabbage patties, definitely a wonderful side dish, snack or main dish, a taste of southern comfort, thanks Sara you're a wonderful home cook i love watching you.
I love fried cabbage and onions and this seems like a wonderful way to get those flavors in more refined side dish fashion. Looking forward to trying this recipe out, thank you!
Hi Sara, I love this recipe idea! One recommendation I'd make is to season my cabbage first with salt and let it sit and then strain/squeeze out the water that accumulates through a cheese cloth. Then combine with onion, add the pepper (and more salt if needed) and the rest of the ingredients. It will help the patties have a crisper texture and also combine a bit better because it won't be as wet. Obviously people don't have to but this is what I do and the recipe turned out amazing!! Thank you for sharing as always. I love your recipes -- my favourite is the pea salad.
👋 Sara, i love cabbage. I can't remember my mom every making cabbage patties as i grew up. I will definitely be trying those. I'm not much of a cook. I wish we were neighbors. I would buy the groceries and let you cook. Loves to everyone 💖💖💖
Thank you 🎉Sara for the recipe haven't had one these long time but I never made it myself. But I do cabbage the regular way . Can't wait to try it smil😊❤.
I didn’t know that you were able to eat them thanks 🙏 for sharing this information tip lol 😂 please don’t ever change as we love you just the way you are ❤
These have been a side my Momma always made, also left over mashed potatoes ( same way ) they make great potato patties with egg, onion,flour and cheese.. yummm
These look so delicious, Sara! Thanks for sharing your recipes with us! Everything you make is drool-worthy. 😂 Love your channel and love you too! ❤ Thanks again.
Just made these, theyre really good! I tried one plain, one with a slice of american cheese & Sriracha, one with shredded cheddar. Cheese on top is delicious on them. This would be great as a veggie burger replacement or just a snack. Thank you!
Oh my goodness. I love cabbage any way it’s made. Never had this before. Definitely going to make this for our supper this week. I wonder how it would be with cornmeal instead of flour. I might try that. Love you Sara. ❤
Yummm! Cabbage patties sound delish and definitely a good way to get veggies in plus budget friendly! I’m thinking of making a pork roast with these or thick ham slice! Mmm❤
What a beautiful way to have cabbage 🥬 and making it the star 💫 of the meal 🍽️ only thing is there’s gonna be be a lot of squeaky floorboards lol 😂 Aussie gal is in the kitchen kicking it with Sara ❤❤
Ooooooooo That reminds me of my childhood. We would take the apples from the old crooked apple trees and make apple sauce. Gather the ones from the ground and basket them up for our neighbours horses. Musta had 13 trees that still alive. Wonder what happened to that old farm.
Korea has something similar, kimchi pancakes, i never thought of doing this with straight cabbage though…. thank you for the idea….. i’m also going to have to try these with sauerkraut….. thank you for the ideas … big hugs from the Kanawha Valley 🐻🐻
Watching this as Im eating fried cabbage with hamburger...bacon....and garbonzo beans.....s and p and garlic I quit all sugar and grsins n flours so it makes a person dream up stuff to eat
I'm definitely going to try this, since our family.. including the kids love cabbage But if any of you have never baked their cabbage in the oven slow and low until it's cooked down you must try it. You'll thank me.
Yum I love cabbage❤ I'm definitely going to try these❤😊❤ have a happy Tuesday❤❤❤ they would probably be good with the canned corned beef the kind without the potatoes❤
Okay, this is probably a dumb question, but why is the cabbage not shrinking down like it does when we make cabbage soup, etc. P.S. This looks delicious, and I'm going to have to try making it!
❤ thank you sweetheart for sharing this amazing recipe as I was just thinking about dinner tonight and now I know what I’m gonna make Aussie gal is in the kitchen kicking it with Sara and Betty ❤❤❤❤sending lots of cuddles from Sydney ❤❤
Audio keeps going from soft to a bit higher, hard to hear it mostly. I finally turned on closed captions to read what you were saying. I noticed this on the past few videos I have watched. Maybe you could invest in a microphone to help. Love your channel Sara and you are looking great.
It can help to rotate the position of the patties when cooking them! That helps them all cook as evenly as possible- looks like that skillet might be a bit too big for that particular stove coil? You can also twist your pan around a little! These look like they'd be super yummy with a little bit of ketchup maybe... or maybe that's the American in me talking LOL
I'm in southern WV and about as hillbilly as you can get. I've had pinto bean cakes, salmon cakes, and tater cakes. But not cabbage cakes. Thanks Sara!
Sara you need to use a nasal spray.... It will help with having to clear your throat so often... The sound on this video was in and out. The only time it was loud was when you cleared your throat... The dish looks good...
The water in the cabbage helps to steam it while it fries. Sara is doing it the right way and her recipe looks wonderful.
Welcome back Sarah, hope you're doing well.
Thank you!! ❤️
I bet this would also be delicious with ground pork added.
Thanks for the great idea! 😊
I find that when you use pre- ground pepper it’s very very mild compared with freshly ground pepper
I really like the tighter camera shot Sara. Less of the messy kitchen in the background makes the video so much better. Nice recipe as usual too.
This kind of reminds me okanimyaki(I might have spelled it wrong) which is a Japanese version of cabbage pancakes.
Hi Sara!!
Could you make zuchinni patties? I tried one time and they did Not turn out.
Hey you got a new pan!
Unintentional ASMR.
😂
Sara? How much cabbage was in your bowl??? Did you shred a whole head??
I love fried cabbage and onion with bacon, so am sure to love this too! 😁😋
A little hot sauce in these is delicious.
I’d dot that on top😊
Broccoli and cheese would be good
Cheese 🧀 makes everything taste better 😂
I know some low-carb and keto folks that also use crushed up pork rinds like breading, or bread crumbs. Well, non bread crumbs….
She's eating cabbage? Expect wind gusts up to 60 mph in the area.
Grind up pork rinds and use that instead of flour. That's the keto breadcrumb substitute. Or make bread crumbs from 647 bread. Check that out. ❤
