I hate when mfs say “the internet isn’t real life” people are truly themselves online

True but, the internet is a tool. An amoral tool that can be used for evil and for good; evil far more often.
Only Baby Boomers remember life before the internet, smart phones, PCs, Windows, and even cheap electronic calculators. Having grown up without any of that, I can honestly say it was better. If everything goes kaput, I still remember how to live without any of it. It will be hard to undo all the easy lazy habits I've acquired since Windows 3.1 and dial up internet entered into my life. I still have my slide rule that I got in 6th grade!

People lack accountability and are quick to excuse and enable the poor decisions of others for social status and maintaining a "positive image". People who care what others think about them are the most easily corrupted.

If it’s technology’s fault, why your chad friend keeps getting positive reinforcement when he goes out to public

It's about the same level as recreational drugs. People say alcohol makes you do or say things you wouldn't do. I think alcohol just removes the filters and brings out your deeper feelings, your insecurities, things that we normally suppress to keep "face" in public. I remember having taken some shrooms and at some point even though I didn't intend to during my trip I just started bawling my eyes out for an hour. Probably due to bottling up a lot of grievances/depression for a while. I can see both sides playing in the idea that drugs are an amazing thing and at the same time it can become a life ruining addiction/escapism. Regardless of consequences we still drink and take them to endure the banal and empty feelings that comes with living this life. Much like the very technology, media, entertainment we use every day

Shrooms are fun but man are psychedelics weird. I see why they’re not addictive but can be therapeutic - they can really bring out different parts of the brain we don’t usually notice. I’ve had fun on shrooms, and I’ve had times where I wanted to hide in bed and felt the same anxiety I used to live in when I did grad school. Either way, I usually come out of the trip with a bit more self understanding.

Technology has accelerated dysgenics. That's really what it boils down to. What's happening to society would happen eventually, but it is supposed to happen over the course of like 300 years. With technology, we've been speedrunning it over the course of a single lifetime.

There’s a big difference there. Back then, there were 3 channels or so, one tv in the living room, and an emphasis on programming with decent quality content so that advertisers would like associating their brand with and that parents could watch with their kids.

Great video and interesting points. But I would like to challenge your input on the ability of having a choice. We live in a economic and financial system that's based on the principal of private ownership, everything we do serves the hierarchy and their currencies whether we do nothing all day or hyper productive. Fortunately, unfortunately, now we're in kind of a grace period where we have the illusion of choice through the abundance the us dollar or british pound (or any western nation) gives us when we purchase or sell goods world-wide which "catch 22" gives us wealth(choice) while other nations/people struggle(no choice) and are enslaved...

At the end of the day we could just choose to be homeless and not play into the system but that's a harder way of living not knowing when our next meal is coming or roof over our heads. That one way to escape slavery but it's extremely hard

@@kinawosindani884I don’t believe the problem is capitalism. I think that’s looking at things backwards. Capitalism if anything is the symptom not the cause. The problem is that people are inherently unequal and selfish and use their advantages to get ahead and oppress others.
The problem is that life in and of itself is unfair. It’s not fair that humans get to farm and eat animals, but we do because of the advantages we have. It’s not fair some people are more attractive. Not fair some people are more intelligent. Not fair some people are more athletic. And these are not small things, because these advantages compound over the course of one’s life, which is what leads to extreme amounts of inequality in the long run. Until the people in power suck at running things and the system collapses due to their own incompetence.
