    OTHER QUESTIONS
Q: Will the weight of the 1500 gallons of water be enough to get you adequate water pressure?
A: From where the tank sits, to where the house will go is about a 350'(106m) elevation difference. So on the lower stuff, it'll actually be necessary to use pressure reducing valves, on 250psi pipe(everything else is 200psi).

It's not the weight but the vertical distance which creates pressure. That's why pressure is often measured in "inches of water column" or "inches of mercury." Twenty-eight inches of water column equals 1 psi. Therefore to get the standard 40 psi of water pressure the water should be 40 x 28 = 1120 inches/12 = 93.3 feet higher than the outlet. That's why water towers are tall.

Neat Josh! I am going to google high tunnel as here in Canada never heard of it! so obviously it has peaked my curiosity ! probably because you also said don't ask! I apologize if that is inappropriate.

haha, well I can answer that. It's very similar to a greenhouse, but doesn't have the same insulation value.

Use a pressure switch by the well. when your cistern is full the float valve will close, when it closes the pressure in the line will build from the pump, once the pressure reaches the upper setting on you pressure switch it will send a signal to your pump controller to shut the pump off

In theory that would work, however I don't know of anyone makes a switch at that high PSI. With as much elevation difference as there is, I've got around 150 psi down near the well. So the switch would need to be around a 140-160 psi shut off.

Really interested in this project. We have around 100 head of Charolais cow/calf operation. A lot of the time they are drinking from our creek, so interested to see how you make out.

Wow, you've got a pretty decent size herd there. How many acres are you on?

@@LandisLegacyFarm We have 250 acres and rent another 200 or so for hay and cash crops.

Hey josh, seems like a cool project you got going on here. You mentioned using this system to eventually supply your house. but with this being an unpressurized gravity fed system, will the weight of the 1500 gallons of water be enough to get you adequate water pressure? Or will you have to add an external well pump at the house that just pulls from the gravity system to pressurize a pressure tank?

@@LandisLegacyFarm wow I didn’t realize you had that much elevation difference. That makes much more sense then!

I think I heard you say my house meaning there is one there or your going to build one there. I will be watching for sure Josh as your just one hard working good kid/man as no insults intended. I am 73 so would give a leg to be your age again. I like this generic cad program and it seems user friendly at least for you as I have played with google earth and sometimes its easy and other times you can't find a town near you much less any projects put up. I don't know what year your google earth is but till they take their satellite pictures and then put them up. technically they don't exist is how I perceive it. I missed you and knew that you had your hands full and it looks like you guys got some of the high hot weather. Other people are asking if they need a ark for the animals and people. Strange weather we have had this year but I think I say that every year..... so good luck on your projects and will be watching for you

Interesting! I don't know how close you got to the cemetery...did you 'discover' any additional graves?

Hey friend, we are new to your channel. Like what we see. My Woodlands Mill just arrived a few days ago. Designing the deck for it right now before I set it up. Looking forward to getting acquainted and watching what happens on the farm. If you get a moment and don’t mind checking out our channel we would appreciate that as well. Either way, we are here to stay.

What is the grant you got called? I just did a grant with the NRCS for a high tunnel

I'm not sure right off hand what it's officially called, but it's specifically for excluding livestock from streams. I've also been approved for the HT grant so hopefully that'll be going in soon!
