Interesting conference. I didn't even know about the RISM collections. I'm interested in Vera Rubin's work, and I'm in the area so I'll have to make a visit to NYU. Thanks for posting these videos!
One thing that was always intriguing to me is why the natives of Florida didn't go out and settle islands in the Caribbean, but there's a lot of evidence that pre-colonial South Florida was deeply connected culturally and materially with Caribbean polities and people whereas North Florida was more similar to its Mississippian neighbors in the Southeast. It would be quite interesting if there was evidence of Muskogean languages being spoken in Cuba, but I doubt something like that would ever preserve in the historical record
A disgusting and cynical treatment of a very important topic. A subject which should have received better commentary by a people who was supposed to have been patriots of their region spoke as though they were alienated from the every life and experience of the average citizen. Apart from that young man,the rest of their critique and reasoning amounted to very little more than a vain attempt to persuade the world that (a) they were really serious about what they were talking about(b) that they even had the education to touch up-on the subject in the first place.
Thank you for posting this. Professor Neptune is one of the best at Temple.
