I live in Michigan and have clay alkaline soil (pH 7.9), with 6.7% organics matter and high calcium levels (3527 ppm) based on a recent soil test. Is Mag-i-cal plus for alkaline soil sufficient, or should I also use that with Love Your Soil? Are the same humates in Love Your Soil found in Mag-I-Cal Plus? How many applications of Mag-i-cal do I need per season and how far apart should I apply? Lastly, is core aeration not helpful at all? I bought a tow behind aerator to use in Spring and Fall (Fall use right before over seeding). I'm excited I learned about this. Thanks!
Hello! Yes, Magical Plus Alkaline should be sufficient for you lawn. We recommend applying it twice a year (once in spring and once in fall) until your pH is 7.2, then you can drop down to once a year to maintain the pH. Aeration will help, but is not always necessary when applying Jonathan Green soil amendments.
