There's band called Ogi Feels The Beat from Serbia I really like. I don't listen to this old Surf/Rockabilly stuff. I mean it's cool and everything but not what I listen to everyday. In fact, I was really just doing research for a character I was writing about who resembles Svetlana in some ways. Here's a link to one of the songs she has done with her new band The Bleak Mechanics. She was the face of the band for me. Oleg is a great guitarist; I get that but I don't listen for the recycled music.
Oleg is sexier than Svetlana 'cause of all that lightning fast and furiosly clean down picking. Maybe the more impressive guitar player I've ever heard. I'm unsure if it's better watchin' Oleg's right hand or Svetlana's whole beauty and cleverness.
I know it's two years later but you still deserve a slap! Nokie Edwards is the King. Just ask Japan. There are a lot of new guys playing like this to the point of them all sounding the same. The Ventures and Nokie had a distinctive style unmatched since.
actually Russia is amazing: beautiful cities, incredible buildings and history, beautiful charming people (and oh my, the women: coming from "the west" and being among them, their genuine sincere femininity it's like, like breathing real air for the first time ever), plus there's the beautiful nature ... of course, nowhere is perfect ... Russia is and has far far more than the propaganda and stereotypes in western media leads us to believe. Having lived in USA myself, been married to an American, and spent time in Russia and dated in Russia, I can't think of any reason Russians would want to live in USA. If having the choice to live in USA or Russia I'd certainly choose Russia, as would many Western men who've been there.
