like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

The only thing I don't like is you have to manually input all the skills you want Alexa to do such as get your Fitbit data. But once setup, she seems great! Put her in an Android body and I would be good to go! lol ;)
i also was wondering the same thing. i don't have a smart phone, could i use the android dongle plugged into my tv? it allows me to download the app but i want to make sure it will work without a smart phone or computer before i spend the money on a dot. thanks a million.

it goes to the option " preparing your eco dot" and here the the blue moving line stops at 80% and stay there and then i get a error - there was an error registering your device. visit help for troubleshooting tips. error code: 12:2:15:10:1
My 7 plus had no problem but I also have the Gen 2 Echo Dot. Also, I could not input my info for my Fitbit connection but Alexa said she had an update and needed to restart. Once she restarted, I was able to input my Fitbit information so maybe it was downloading an update and stalled on you? If not, I would ask Amazon for help or return. Is the 4S on the list of devices it is compatible with? Good luck!
I get to about step one. Says i have to update chrome. Chrome says its updated. Even an uninstall doesn't help. Tried d/l the app via amazon instead of play store. Says i have to sign in even though i am. Signing via the app is impossible. When you click on sign in the page appears for about 1 second then returns to the sign in button.
