When watching the Polish series, you should take into account that it was made in 2002. And the budget for the entire series was less than one episode of a Netflix series. Fight choreography or CGI is better on Netflix. But the Polish series has something that the Netflix series never has and will never have. The Polish series has an atmosphere. You stick to books to a greater extent, if the yew changes, it makes sense. And the music in the Polish Witcher is 100 times better. Of course, everyone knows Penny the Witcher, but who remembers the main soundtrack? And I still remember these drums from The Witcher from 2002.
It's from the times where CGI didn't exist but these series had a great mood and Zebrowski played Gerald with passion and so accurately. Good old days from childhood.😊
Its from 2002. Ofcourse there was CGI. We had LOTR: The Two Towers, Minority Report, Spider-man, MIB 2, SW Attack of the Clones etc. THE SAME YEAR. We had a LOT of CGI already
Now talking about "invisible Geralt": we have to Remember that 1)Witchers are mutated human beings, so now they're stronger, quicker and, in general, more skilled. Geralt probably was just hiding in shadows, but he was so quick and subtle that a group of bandit would think that he turned himself invisible. 2) this series was very low budget. But as far as i watched this fight, it certainly wasn't a super good and fluid choerography, but in a certain sense i've liked It: i feeled the grittines of the Witcher's world, were fights are quick and less flashy than the game counterpart.
Stop making things up. Geralt's speed is just above average. He's deffinetly not that fast seeing like regular people could keep up with him quite a few times and even beat the shit out of him.
Wasn’t nearly as bad as it could’ve been. I’ve seen more cuts in multimillion dollar movies. The only issues is the combat was slow and the effects weren’t good (clearly due to budget)
What I like about this TV sieres more than netflix adaptation are two things 1 is the costume designs are very medieval unlike the netflix adaptation which is looking more like a fantasy 2 the real filmed nature instead of the cgi nature in the netflix version But still the netflix adaptation is better
Although it looks cheaper than that Turkish Ottoman dynasty show, it still is a better adaptation of the book. Particularly Renfri's last words, which is something I never understand why Netflix decided to cut them out. Here it's a bit rushed, in Netflix version, Geralt's entire stone cold, confused manner is entirely skipped, and the focus was already being directed towards Ciri

Nie jest to trudne. Neomarksizm w Hollywood gorszy od Sowieckich filmów. No może z tą różnicą że to Rosjanie wbili flagę radziecką pierwsi, a flaga polska... nawet by ją zrzucili.
@@drogadepc Not really. If you read the books, this is a lot closer to the battle. The new show just does the typical, one enemy at a time. They just line up and let him slay them one by one.
Too many dramatic pauses. I always imagine fights in medieval times would be more messy like this and not so perfect without a misses step like in the Netflix.. it looks like a dance the actors did a million times to perfect.. which they did..but real fights aren't like that.
@@ambersather7460 That's one thing. Another is that this scene had literally no budget. There were no stunt doubles. There is some stuff I prefer in this version over the Netflix stuff...it looks much more real and Geralt...I like him more in this story...The Netflix show neglected him kinda
Here's the funfact: The guy, who plays Geralt in this Version, Michal Zebrowski, Later Voiced Geralt (Henry Cavill) in the polish dub of the new version
Poland has the best sword battle in movie history Kmicic vs Wołodyjowski, but for Hexer they had to do some weak random, camera shain crap xD still show is better than netflix, but the battles are horrible.
Funny, but this scene is more accurate, than from netflix. Geralt truly ran around the market, trying to hit ranfri gang one by one, cos they are not stupid and group up before the fight. In netflix adaptation they just atack one by one
These series also screwed original script of books, but at least it keeped spirit of polish (slavic) myths and culture, and it is still better for me than Netflix shit. P.S. Also Michal Zebrowski is the best witcher.
I'm Polish. I have read the series 14 times. I have also listened to the English version of the Witcher novels and saga 4 times read by Peter Kenny. He is absoluetly amazing reading the stories and saga. Brilliant. I have also attended the meeting with the author Andrzej Sapkowski having chance to ask him few questions. This was also an experience. Michał Żebrowski playing the role of witcher in the Polish TV series is really good. Remember it was really low budget TV series. Henry Cavill is also doing great job. I think the main reason both series failed in many ways is that the screenplay and directors decided to add or remove or change the original version. This was not a good idea. I think Polish version is much better in reflecting the original atmoshere of the books. It has lot to do with medieval way of live. Keep in mind it was shot nearly 20 years ago, so the limitations were even greater. Netflix version is much better with special effects and fighting scenes choreography. Still keep in mind both series are far away from the original version from the books, which is masterpiece of its own quality.
Even tactical side from badguys is better. They form a rank, then someone io breaking it, so all formation is damneg, everyone is carin about his live, so they are killed in 1 vs 1 duel, ehn they had no chance.
Fun fact: the actor playing Geralt here is also the polish dub voice actor for Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk (another CDPR video game) and Doctor Strange in the Marvel movies
High production value may not be there yet this feels more authentic ..the Netflix show claims they r following the books and not the games but they r not even following the books that well either.
Still holding to this day I remember seeing this way back on tv Even before reading the books this was epic for me This version of Geralt will forever remain the only one And a very great idea for a Witcher sword to be a katana looking sabre very cool and unusual for slavic themed fantasy story And yes a lot better than Netflix
it was a better story than the new version because we know why Geralt decided to kill them. Firstly they tried to kill all from the village by mage come outside from the tower. In the new version, we haven't that information.
The fight choreography isn't great, and there's a lot of cuts that are really distractive, but all in all, I see It as a very well intended adaptativo considering the obvious low budget.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol, I noticed that too! Lol
The sound effects in Netflix version are just as bad imo
Once you start paying attention to the sound effects it's hard to focus on anything else they are so unnatural
@@striker_2790 Bo to dobry serial (Polski Wiedźmin), ja tam nieironicznie lubię.

And I still remember these drums from The Witcher from 2002.
really cool like in the book: she takes of the skirt and takes it in the left hand to detract geralt while Fighting...
So, welcome to the polish bugdet tv shows, Netflix viewers!
Btw, I think Stregobor in polish version was bit more interesting
Hasiu
Too bad it’s unwatchable
Fionnbarr Casey Maybe you are unwatchable.
Do you know where I can find all the episodes?
@@kaiojag they're all on youtube
Its 2001
in 2002 they had real castles and real people, Netflix can only dream on.
It's from the times where CGI didn't exist but these series had a great mood and Zebrowski played Gerald with passion and so accurately. Good old days from childhood.😊
CGI existed even back in 90's. It wasn't the quality we have today but there's a lot of movie and tv show that used it back in the time
Its from 2002. Ofcourse there was CGI. We had LOTR: The Two Towers, Minority Report, Spider-man, MIB 2, SW Attack of the Clones etc. THE SAME YEAR. We had a LOT of CGI already

@@chimnino Not in Poland we didn't have great special effects.

1:45 dude getting a Stone Cold Stunner
Bruh did you just compare the fighting of a TV show to a game.
@@drogadepc ''just above average''
No, he's incredibly fast to parry a crossbow bolt. But not that fast as to turn invisible lol
@@drogadepc gtfo idiot think before writing please
@@halolime117 take your own advice kid lmao
The combat was pretty clunky but I did admire them trying to show how Geralt fight dances a little bit.
Bagiński himeself said that with Netflix he made Witcher for idiots so...
geralt fighting ith a katana, so basically the witcher anime was a thing for a long time
More likely a saber. From what little I know, a pretty widespread weapon in what is now Poland. Seems appropriate.
@@mdruffy235 thats definitely a katana,l. Saber is one handed weapon.
@@donpecz1584 It's Katana. Fight choreographer were 7th Dan Aikido, so in this show, withchers style is a mixture of Aikido, Kenjutsu and Karate.
@@MrDzioban actually it is a saber... only a Burman saber for whatever reason.
@@donpecz1584 It's not a Katana, You can even fuckin read what directors said about it. It's a variation of a hungarian saber stylized as a katana :)
Man it's great. Much better than The Netflix Crap.
Looks more accurate than the Netflix version.
Incorrect
Netflix. 😀
All those cuts gave me a seizure
Wasn’t nearly as bad as it could’ve been. I’ve seen more cuts in multimillion dollar movies. The only issues is the combat was slow and the effects weren’t good (clearly due to budget)
@@miguelmoronta6871 Was very slow and looks dumb, probably they didnt train so much for this choreography.
What I like about this TV sieres more than netflix adaptation are two things
1 is the costume designs are very medieval unlike the netflix adaptation which is looking more like a fantasy
2 the real filmed nature instead of the cgi nature in the netflix version
But still the netflix adaptation is better
Where is it more medieval, the costumes here a very fantasy
Great points! Also the story is closer to the books in this version.
@@pressrepeat2000 really?? Did they explain in books how geralt disappeared mysteriously?
Mostafa Elmasry this adaptation is 20 times closer with books than Netflix shit.
IT is fantasy genius
For anyone wonder - this is Bolków Castle
It's worth a visit :)
No może z tą różnicą że to Rosjanie wbili flagę radziecką pierwsi, a flaga polska... nawet by ją zrzucili.
I actually found this fight scene more convincing than the new show.
I found the whole show to be better than Netflix one, despite all of it flaws.
You're crazy
@@drogadepc Not really. If you read the books, this is a lot closer to the battle. The new show just does the typical, one enemy at a time. They just line up and let him slay them one by one.
Too many dramatic pauses. I always imagine fights in medieval times would be more messy like this and not so perfect without a misses step like in the Netflix.. it looks like a dance the actors did a million times to perfect.. which they did..but real fights aren't like that.
@@ambersather7460 That's one thing. Another is that this scene had literally no budget. There were no stunt doubles. All actors were soap opera actors without any physical ability, and Żebrowski was the only guy who was fit and trained at fencing, but they didn't have time to perfect the scene and Aikido moves were totally new even to Żebrowski, who learned only European teatrical fencing, and then just a littke bit of HEMA for his other movies.
There is some stuff I prefer in this version over the Netflix stuff...it looks much more real and Geralt...I like him more in this story...The Netflix show neglected him kinda
Jedna z lepszych scen.
Man was garelt actually scary in this one
If they remade this polish version it will still be better then the Netflix version we got.
Wow polish makes it sounds so good
Here's the funfact: The guy, who plays Geralt in this Version, Michal Zebrowski, Later Voiced Geralt (Henry Cavill) in the polish dub of the new version
Polish is the true elder tonque!
Not great but still better than Netflix
I like this tv show even it's low budget (exept elves appearance in another episode)
Still better than blood origins
Poland has the best sword battle in movie history Kmicic vs Wołodyjowski, but for Hexer they had to do some weak random, camera shain crap xD still show is better than netflix, but the battles are horrible.
Funny, but this scene is more accurate, than from netflix.
Geralt truly ran around the market, trying to hit ranfri gang one by one, cos they are not stupid and group up before the fight.
In netflix adaptation they just atack one by one
1:46 The Witcher Stunner!
still better then Netflix
These series also screwed original script of books, but at least it keeped spirit of polish (slavic) myths and culture, and it is still better for me than Netflix shit.
P.S. Also Michal Zebrowski is the best witcher.
2:52 GERALT WCHODZI W 4 GESTOSC ZASYSA CZASOPRZESTEŃ

Yes, by all means, Renfri. Take off your chainmail, lest it interferes with your fighting.
Still better than Netflix's blasphemy
How is this offensive to the UA-cam community?!
So much better than the new one. If only it had the budget.
just found this after the blood origin from netflix, and to be honest, this is not great, but its better than netflix shit
This is way better than the netflix version , he even did a half pirouette ^^
Everyting beside invisibility was more better than Netflix addaptadion. Book was way better.
Damn! I feel the same thing like im playing The witcher 3
Geralt turns invisible 🤣 apart from that, i find this better than Netflix adaptation.
Now this is the real version not that Netflix crap 😂
I just love how dirty this looks
My god this is great for its time and its budget
Angel Flores sure...
At that time (2002) Lord of the Rings was up, so nope. Polish movie "The Flood" form 70s has far better sword fighting scenes.
I know german low budget movies that are 15 years older and still way better

@@geluz4430 "Potop" to "The Deluge" a nie "The Flood".
Still holding to this day
I remember seeing this way back on tv
Even before reading the books this was epic for me
This version of Geralt will forever remain the only one
And a very great idea for a Witcher sword to be a katana looking sabre very cool and unusual for slavic themed fantasy story
And yes a lot better than Netflix
For 2002 this looks very good
Must say this has alot of character and the mood is very gritty which i like alot!
it was a better story than the new version because we know why Geralt decided to kill them. Firstly they tried to kill all from the village by mage come outside from the tower. In the new version, we haven't that information.
The fight choreography isn't great, and there's a lot of cuts that are really distractive, but all in all, I see It as a very well intended adaptativo considering the obvious low budget.
Geralt with bear armor
This looks like more real life fencing, not so coreograped.
Still better than Netflix shit
