  • LMPD leads follow up meeting for Lake Road North Community Watch
The La Marque Police Department held a follow up meeting for the Lake Road North Community Watch program on Monday night (3/21/2022) at McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church with a focus on updating residents about issues within the city.
La Marque Police Chief Randall Aragon said the three main concerns residents conveyed at the Jan. 31 meeting were drugs, shots fired and erratic driving/speeding.
Aragon has assigned officers to lead the response for specific areas of the city, with additional police presence in so-called "hot spots" that are known areas for criminal activity.
Aragon, several of his officers and staff, and other city leaders addressed the crowd of roughly 30 residents in attendance. He said around the same number of residents attended the kickoff meeting and Aragon has been pleased with the community response to the effort.
The police department, Aragon said, began a community watch program in 2010 and the hope is an increase in police patrols and community vigilance in reporting suspicious activities will help prevent some crimes.
The Lake Road South Community Watch meeting is scheduled for 6PM Monday (3/28/2022) at McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church, 1607 Nashby Street.
