    I have a 1962 3000 MK II I need to restore. I also live in riverside, good to see there is someone good close by that knows Healey's. Yours is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

    I always wanted a black over red big Healey. Now I want that combination. It’s the most beautiful Healey I have ever seen. Can you hear the envy and want? Lol

    Hey that is a blast from the past! I grew up watching the rich run around in these and other badges you probably never heard of; Humber, Lagonda, Talbot, etc. It looks to me as if the next generation of rich folks are buying up and restoring the toys of the old, or dead, rich. Rolls, Bentley, Aston, Austin 3000, etc. I'm just picturing the '50s country Doctor as he glides past in his Rover 90, followed by his spoilt son in an MG. Those were the days, yes Sir. We the plebs rode Motorcycles or drove Standard generic wore out cars. Today my Velocette Venom would probably be worth 20gs... lol.
    Its really nice to see these great old cars still running around! But they do not compare well with today's sports rigs, mostly because the HP has gone from under a hundred, MG then, to over a thousand, GM today.
    Best regards.

    Love that car, what colour is that metallic gray colour? My guess would be Seal Gray Metallic.

    SU carbs are the best carbs and they have also the most pretty looks.They are also more environmental friends then Weber.

    The steering wheel in upside down. One set of banjo spokes should be straight up when the front wheels are facing straight ahead. Nice car thought.

    I had a 1955 Healey B4. I never saw a 3000 painted that color.

    Lovely job - but if concourse is supposed to be factory spec what are chromed wire wheels and SU carbs doing on there? Were they offered on USA spec?

    • @cardocgolden
      @cardocgolden 7 років тому +1

      all models of "big Healey" had SU carbs with all years having dual SU carbs apart from the 1962 tricarb BT7 model. Chrome wire wheels were a dealer installed option --they came from the factory painted, not chromed

    It's like it's been given the 'selective saturation' treatment in Photochoppppe!

    Beyond doubt, it's eye-poppingly beautiful, but no A-H ever looked this good straight from the factory; those tight shut-lines, that paint gloss, just could not be achieved in those days. So, to claim, as this presenter does, that this car is factory-correct to the tiniest detail is a mite disingenuous. Among the details that aren't factory-original are the polished SU carburettor pots (they were always matte); the chromed valve-cover nuts (they were painted the same colour as the cover); the chromed nuts elsewhere on the engine (also painted originally); the NGK spark-plug caps (Japanese plugs on a 1960s British car? Never! They would have been Champion or, just possibly, Lodge); and the chromed metal oil-filler cap (it was black plastic, with a list of recommended lubricants moulded in radially and a retainer chain that prevented the cap being dropped into the bowels of the engine bay when removed). All of these would lose points in any A-H Owners Club concours in the UK. Even so, the car is beautiful.

      I agree, it is a beautiful car but would not pass concourse as the paint finish is not as factory and too much bling. Car jewellery as he describes in not concourse.

      dont waist your breath, the door gaps are atrocious and the car is a chromed turd good enough for Americans

    My first car was a Healey 3000 mk2 triple carb bought her in 1978. I loved that car drove it from one end of the UK to the other. She was my everyday transport. Restored her to concourse condition and then sold her. The biggest mistake of my life. Sure wish I still had my Big Healey.
