    Great little set up mate … I believe many people over complicate their setup and their costs because we’re told we need this or should buy that … and it’s one thing I’ve long promoted with my channel and through my socials - no matter what car you own or DON’T own, just get out and enjoy the camping lifestyle and the great outdoors. Well done mate, you’re living the dream … simple set up … reliable set up … and most importantly, an affordable set up which allows you to get out there. Great stuff bud. @flipper 140 What many people do in SUV builds is to make the end of the bed with a hinged portion so they can lean the front seat forward for extra length. If you do that it will fit fine. My bed is 5 ft 10 with the front seat upright.

    I'm in the middle of converting my 2014 CRV. I built a platform bed, but it was the full length of the back, so I'm cutting it in half and will be turning the other side into my "kitchen" and "living room" - love how well organized you are. Thanks for the video. New Sub!

    With your cook kit, if you get a thin can cozy (like the ones the give away) you can put it on the bottom of the Stanley and slide the Ozark cup over. It holds on thight enough to not need anything else, it makes it not rattle, and it keeps any soot that may get on the Stanley bottomfrom ending up in the Ozark cup.

    I got a low top, standard length E150 figuring everything else was too big. Turned it into a camper with solar and everything, but it still feels too big. Most of my time outdoors is spent, well, outdoors. I love what you've done. Really considering a CR-V with a lift; just big enough for me and my things, and could get me deeper into the backwoods.

    I currently have the same exact CRV as you, even the color haha.. question.. do you notice yours gets bad MPG for being a 4 cylinder? And do you have a service light usually always on?

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  2 роки тому

      I don't have the service light issue. Is it the check engine light or the "Maintenance Required" light? The check engine light needs to be scanned with an OBDII scanner to see what is wrong with your car. It means something isn't working right and could be the cause of bad gas mileage. The "Maintinence Required" light is just a reminder to get an oil change. You can reset it yourself by holding the odometer button and turn the ignition to position 2 and keep holding the button until the light turns off.

This may or may not be the best battery for your needs. Just shop around for something that fits the space you have with the battery capacity that you need. As a general guideline AGM is better than normal deep cycle, and lithium is better than AGM.

    This is perfect. I would love some kind of a price breakdown on all this. I have a Honda CRV and SSI payments for $1300 per month. I'm assuming I don't need all this initially, just eventually. Starting out, if I were to hide out at Walmart or an indoor garage, how much money do I need for startup? I subscribed and liked.

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks! I really couldn't put an accurate price since prices for things have changed so much since I built it. I would start by just building a bed and go from there. A sheet of plywood, a 2x4 and a jigsaw and a drill. From there make it based on how you want to use it and put it together a piece at a time.

      I certainly can. It's on the Apache trail coming from Phoenix almost to fish creek hill where the road is closed. I'll tag it. coordinates: 33.52862371068408, -111.32058673976833

    Would suggest you remove your roof cross-bars as its causing shadows on your solar panel which may not optimise solar generation.

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  3 роки тому

      That's a good idea. I do use it occasionally though, so It's a compromise I've made.

    How did run the wire from your solar panel to inside your CRV and how did you mount it?

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  Рік тому

      The solar pannel is held on with long strips of velcro. Later on I replaced this one with a hard solar pannel that fit between the crossbars and attached it with brackets. The wires just go in the rear passenger side door taped down where they go through.

    Did you remove your seats or just fold them down? I've been camping in a Versa Note for several years, now thinking of getting a CR-V, but have no experience with larger vehicles. Can a conversion be done without removing seats? Thanks for the video.

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  3 роки тому +1

      I removed the seats, it's not hard. This setup could be done with the seats folded down, but the bed would have to be several inches higher. Originally I left in the driver side seat but I wanted the extra space, so I took it out also. If you had a car where the seats fold flat that would be ideal. I'm not sure how the seats fold in newer CRVs.

    Love 💕 your flat solar panel and stove. Where did you get them ?

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  3 роки тому +2

      The roof solar panel is a flexible 100 watt panel available from several different brands on eBay or Amazon. The butane stove is also available on Ebay, Amazon, Walmart, and many other places. The brands that make them change all the time so it's best to just search based on the features you want.

    Do you have the dimension of the platform boards used for this? I'm building one of these for my sister in-law

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  Рік тому +1

      Dimensions are 31 inches wide by 70 inches long of 1/2" plywood. There is a hinged portion behind the passenger seat. You also have to cut the board to fit around the wheel well. I had legs that are 10 inches tall made from 2x4s, 1x2s around the bottom edge of the board to add stiffness.

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  3 роки тому +3

      The solar panel is mounted to the roof so it stays on there all the time. I have a second folding solar panel for extra power while stationary. I use the stove's box as a backsplash to keep the bed clean.

    I really want an older crv to build for camping light overlanding. I swear these older crv are expensive as heck I wish I could find one for $500

    • @josephdover198
      @josephdover198 Рік тому

      You can't find a 1990 Civic hatchback that doesn't run for $500. Your best bet at getting an affordable CRV is finding a salvaged title. I already had a red 99 CRV but it was FWD only. I found a red 99 real time 4WD with a salvaged title and 227k mileage. This was September 2019 and they wanted $1800. I got them down to $1600 but it didn't have a spare tire. Not expensive. Plastic front bumper was rigged and still is but also not expensive. New tires, front brakes and shifts clean. Started to overheat while idling at a stop in summer of 2020 but once again fixing that was also cheap. The chances of you getting a solid CRV like this are very slim though. The gas mileage, space, reliability and even using them for builds like this are why 1st and 2nd gen CRV's are still so expensive. I just got very lucky. In 2023 even for a solid 1st gen prepare to spend about $5,000.

    • @AnyAdventure
      @AnyAdventure  2 роки тому

      I built it using 1/2" plywood framed with 1x2's and 2x4's for legs. The tricky part is to get it to fit the contours of the inside of the car. Just use cardboard to make a template. Cut a little, check the fit, make corrections, repeat until it fits.
