This song is truly incredible and unmatched. No one does it better than Journey. The best band ever!! Period...no comparison. Been loving Steve Perry and the timeless music of Journey for 40 years.❤️
It's Okay to cry. It happens to me every time I watch this video and listen to this song.. Steve Perry sings from his heart and pours his emotion out in every song he sings.. His voice is like a bell skipping across a smooth lake.

A bit of trivia ~ Do you know who gave Steve the title “The Voice”? It was none other than Jon Bon Jovi! It’s funny though to ask because most true Journey fans already know this. Something about Steve Perry - his talent, personality, showmanship, kindness, honesty, charm, and his good heart - pull you in and make you want to know the man. I fell in love with the voice first and then the man himself. Just adore him!

This one tears me up for more than one reason. Some people might not realize that Steve stated his biggest influence when he was a kid was listening to Sam Cooke. You can really hear some of Sam in the way he sings. Sam Cookes life ended tragically and its like that great influence he was on Steve, this white kid from a modest town carried on his sound in a unique gene of soul rock that his band Journey as blessed us with. But this solo here...brings like most of his songs, two cultures together in the most beautiful way on the most beautiful subject. Love. Thank you Sam. Thank you Steve. I know he would have loved this masterpiece

I've been with my wife for 24 years now and 4 months ago I sang it to her on karaoke for the 1st time. It was magic to see her light up when I sang to her. I never wanted the song to stop. Guess what it never stopped it was in her eyes all them years and its all mine. I still cry today on the spot that only one in this much love will understand. There's a band of gold that shines waiting some ware. And she's every ware....Ty for the best react I've seen today.

You are so sweet adorable! Love Steve Perry and Journey. I have all their music. Another great voice from the 80s is Don Henley from the Eagles. The Eagles made some amazing music but Henley went solo and his lyrics and melodies are amazing! My favorite one of his songs is The End of the Innocence but there are so many more - Last Worthless Evening, Dirty Laundry, The Heart of the Matter, Taking You Home etc

I am 55 yrs old. I grew up LISTENING to Journey. Love Steve Perry's voice. He sings with his heart & soul. He makes you feel the music!! Only 2 ppl have brought tears 2 my eyes when they sing & that is Steve Perry & Angelina Jordan. I would LOVE 2 see these 2 do a Duet. It would be pure magical GOLD!!

Back story on this video, Steve was preparing to go on tour with the band by getting into shape. He went to Hawaii & while hiking, he injured his hip. Steve had 2 contemplate on getting his hip surgery, which was a major surgery & he wanted time to think about it. The rest of the group got tired of waiting on Steve 2 make his decision & chose a new singer & that ended the group.
In this video, Steve was in excruciating pain due 2 his hip. He had 2 take breaks during the filming of this video due 2 his pain.

I heard the song was about a lady he found a few years ago that he fell head over heels in love with. He knew going in that she was dying but stayed with her till the end. Such a powerful song of love and everytime I hear it I fall in love all over again.

I still get chill bumps every single time I hear Steve Perry sing and I have listened to Journey and Steve Perry for decades. He is called "The Voice" for a REASON !!!! He could sing the bad news in the newspaper or WHATEVER and still just give me chill bumps due to his voice alone. Watch Journey live in concert, no autotune or WHATEVER and he sounds better than on the albums. He's still AMAZING on albums, but listening to his voice live just takes me to another world. I liked your comment about how the words to this song can relate to anybody's situation when it comes to love although in my case I'd like to meet a nice lady to love so that this song has a real meaning for me. I did fall head over heals in love with a girl over 20 years ago but she broke my heart when she said we lived to far apart and broke up with me. I haven't been able to get a date with another lady since as the few women I've asked out have said "No" which has made me sad as I sometimes think this has made me feel like I'm not a real man. I still have my parents and sister who I love dearly but I would also love to have a relationship with a girlfriend.
