I've rarely seen such a terrible analysis of a bodybuilding show ever, the Golden Era was the era of lean mass, basically the physique of Serge Nubret who was the best of this era imo, and Arnold was just completely disproportionnal. Mentzer was a chump. Arnold shut him down in the posing round. He was a master of charisma and presentation, even whipping Zane. Of course Mentzer abused steroids like a SOB, scoring 5th place in the contest. He died in his 40's after years of health issues.
Arnold was a narcissistic, vile, Nazi, totalitarian type of individual who hated the fact that he was out of the limelight for 5 years and his jealously raged within him because Mike, Frank and Chris were at the top of bodybuilding at the time. Mike Mentzer instructional books were selling like hotcakes and he was one most popular BB's in the late 70's. His training methods were complete opposite of Arnie's in a time that needed a change. It proved too much for Poopnegger, as he came back (looking like sh*t) and won the most controversial contest in history! His posing presentation as described by Muscle and Fitness, "The same old hat and uninspiring." Drugnegger took more peds than anyone in his era (started taking them at 15!). Stupidnegger has major heart problems (had several heart surgeries) because of all of steroids and drugs he was ingesting when he was competing. Recently had a pacemaker put in. Lol! He is kept alive due to his wealth and his affiliations with wealthy elites.
I know it is one of the most debatable Olympias but I think Arnold pulled it off the 81 Olympia is much more controversial with columbo winning over platz who was at his peak
Watch the posing routines. I am not saying there wasnt controversy or corruption. But when you watch the posing routines its lights out for mentzer. Boyer coe or chris dickerson and even danny padilla were better than mentzer. So mentzer should have won... nope. I think 5th was appropriate. Look at boyer coe! Look at dickerson. Both of them flatten mentzer. I dont think it was even close.
Mentzer wasn’t actually 5th. He tied Boyer for 4th. But by alphabetical order, he’s listed as 5th. Dickerson and Coe both looked amazing that day, so I think a legitimate top 3 would be those 3 in any order. All were supremely chiseled. Arnold and Zane were off their top condition. Zane was still shredded, but smaller than before due to an injury
Frank Zane was tiny, Dickerson didn’t have biceps, Roger Walker didn’t have any symmetry, Mentzer had small chest and narrow, Boyer was ok but not the best. Arnold lost on legs, other than that, he looked good enough to win. Not 1971-74 condition, but good enough. I think people were booing because in 1975, he played a villain in a pumping iron and people remembered that movie.
Of course he deserved it...he wasn't as big, muscular or shredded as he was in his prime...but still it must have been better than others for that day...I'd say he fairly won it...atmost with maybe a lil bit of support from the judges
I cannot be the only one who think Arnold was superior that day menzer had more cut quads and better tris and that’s about it also abs even at Arnold’s worse stage performance he still looks better
It is a pro sport, with a lot of fabricated narratives. Controversy sells, not just in this case. Just look at all the armchair YT commenters seeding controversy after the recent Arnold Classic. The reality is that one has to be there, in person, to be entitled to an opinion. If you have ever attended a BB competition in person and compared that to pics and images later, you realize that.
I still say that Arnolds posing and body was still very impressive though he looked slimmed down more I think he deserved to win the Olympia. Arnold Schwarzenegger still looked much better than Mentzer.
Arnold: "I wasn't at my best and still beat all of them. What does that tell you about how they looked?" The losers were not too smart. They should have just admitted that the competition was tough rather than tell everyone they lost to someone who was in bad shape.....LMAO!! An intelligent person would rather admit they lost to someone who was an awesome competitor rather than a loser. Losing to a loser makes them look like worse losers. baaaa...ha...ha...ha...haaaaa.
Arnold look deformed. Slope shoulders, small delts, no triceps (one of the reasons why he never showed them off during the mandatories), small forearms, mediocre ABS structure (two rows of ABS, nothing beneath but wrinkled skin), paper thin back, legs among the worst of all Mr. Olympia's next to Dumbo Columbo in 81. Legs that had absolutely no sweep, no inner thighs, no hamstring development whatsoever! He would turn to the side and his legs would disappear! Can't hide subpart leg development. It seen thru all poses. He was built like a human Q-tip. Mike weighed in at 225 lbs while Wedlock Arnold weighed at unimpressive 218lbs ! Pitiful! He was a mess here
Günter Schlierkampf qualified 5th at the 2002 Mr O but 2 weeks later, without even training or extra juicing, He managed to beat Ronnie Coleman at the Show of Strenght contest by taking the first place award. Your argument is not valid.
All is possible. At the Olympia 2001, Jay Cutler was far ahead from Ronnie Coleman at the prejuging and in the evenoing he lost M.Olympia cause Ronnie came back strong and won. That's it! It's the same what happen with Arnold at 1980, he came back stronger and show his strong poit and won. Anyway Bodybuilding is subjective sport. Dorian beat Nasser at the Olympia 1997. Cutler beat Victor at 2007. Samir Bannout beat Makkawi in 1983 and so on. Matter of opinions.
Logically, if Mike Mentzer was indeed "robbed", he should have placed higher than only fifth. Arnold was admittedly not at his all-time best necessarily, but he was still good enough to win, and was still overall better than the other competitors. On the other hand, l completely agree that Franco Columbu had no business winning any Olympias, period. Tom Platz was clearly superior in every category compared to Franco, and Platz had probably the absolute best legs in the history of bodybuilding.

Big rammy can learn from this
I know it is one of the most debatable Olympias but I think Arnold pulled it off the 81 Olympia is much more controversial with columbo winning over platz who was at his peak
Don't tell us that juicehead, go to Mike mincer's grave and Apologize ❤
How about Danny Padilla? He looked great!
@@Tallmark1 his height was his major problem. If I am not mistaken, he was 5’4.
Of course he deserved it...he wasn't as big, muscular or shredded as he was in his prime...but still it must have been better than others for that day...I'd say he fairly won it...atmost with maybe a lil bit of support from the judges
exactly arnold was still so structurally superior and he didn't look bad compared with the others just his previous self lol
have you even seen the comparisons in 1980
@@morphmongal320 structure is not height. If you're talking about structure Mike mentzer had him beat by a mile
@@gloccry2184 structure insertions and size was enough to have mike beat imo
@Youknowmyflava Mike was nowhere near as wide and had a gut. "Small waist" 😂
FOR ME HE WIN
No he did not!
The real champion won😮
I don't believe Arnold and his story one bit.
The trick! Diuretics
I cannot be the only one who think Arnold was superior that day menzer had more cut quads and better tris and that’s about it also abs even at Arnold’s worse stage performance he still looks better
For me is the best
Another lie Arnie... Dsnt suit a legend like u.
Bullshit....everyone titled to their opinions
ARNOLD WAS THE BEST IN 1980.
You're right, he was, " turd ".
I still say that Arnolds posing and body was still very impressive though he looked slimmed down more I think he deserved to win the Olympia. Arnold Schwarzenegger still looked much better than Mentzer.
I love how these Arnold worshipers go into these apoplectic seizure like meltdowns when their demi-god is mentioned and opposed. Hilarious!
in my opinion , I still think Arnold won
He had the best lines. And his signature poses were fantastic.
Why anyone would sit with gay-for-pay for any reason is beyond me😅😅
Supersetman = lying, Arnold never once admits he was not the best Mr. Olympia in 1980
Joe Weider and Bodybuilding Old School Forever. Without AAS there is no bodybuilding. This is true.
Arnold: "I wasn't at my best and still beat all of them. What does that tell you about how they looked?"
The losers were not too smart.
Arnie you seiked him out when you said ,( you lost because your belly was hanging out, milks for babies.🤭😂😭🤗
Like he said to succed you must do everything to win
😈
lol
Menzer was puny in 1980.. his chest was flat.. he was small.. he looked like a boy
So why Franco won the next year? If it's all about the size
Pitiful! He was a mess here
Bruh arnold bribed the Judges and get mr Olympia , mike had aesthetic body than your dad ,
If you all believed that Menzer was the real champ.. he must be at the top 3, lol 😂
Günter Schlierkampf qualified 5th at the 2002 Mr O but 2 weeks later, without even training or extra juicing, He managed to beat Ronnie Coleman at the Show of Strenght contest by taking the first place award. Your argument is not valid.
mike was the best
Arnie and his pool stick legs! Lol! A laughable Olympian
But robbing SRLY
Point Blank Schwarzenegger one Frank Zane zero.
If your going to broadcast something in English, than for Christ's sake learn to speak the language
Arnold won. Get over it
