As a decorator in 🇬🇧 we always cut our corners in overlap by 3mil then put the cut off up too the corner match up Plumb in and trim where needed, alway on every corner
Why don’t you have a plumb line drawn before you cut that corner? The right hand paper will never be straight and as you continue (of course) the paper get more and more crooked!
i am a proffesional as wel in the Netherlands with wallpaper. Spencer Colgan your videos are helpfull for many people. keep up the good work with this topvideos
What's this about you coming to cities near you? Could you come to our city I'd love to get me and my guys setup on your wallpaper Academy. Do you know about the wallpaper Guild?

@@spencercolgan Omgoodness! I'm exhausted but it turned out spectacular. I heard your voice in my head as i was cutting the corners and planning my attack. im so glad I watched some of your videos before attempting this. Thank you!

Spencer when I watch your videos I find myself talking to my phone saying things like been there Spencer fuckin right Spencer that's exactly how I'd do it Spencer wife's always asking who's this Spencer fella your always talkin to when I tell her I'm talkin to my phone she just shakes her head and mumbles under her breath she'll be gettin the men in white coats to come take me away lol
Hi Spencer watched so many of your videos there very helpful! This one I particular. Although I have a question, what if we have an external wall ( corner of the chimney breast ) that leaves the same overhang? But its not in an internal corner to do the same technique as you just did here 🤞🤞🤞
100% correct. It's not alllways going to match unless the Conners are 100% straight wicth is most unlikely. The main thing is the pattern to match all the way round the round. We use a laser to make sure its straight.
Hi again Spencer, so is it quite acceptable not to cut a corner and sacrafice a little plump on the adjacent wall? Obviously cut the paper if we have major buckling.. Great video by the way "prozac" 🤣🤣🤣
Great question; general rule… Always cut the corner; if you have a geometric pattern, consider not cutting the corner but using and extra tacky paste in the corner to keep it down and then wait on the corner to make sure it doesn’t come up before hanging the next piece; in every case to the right or left of a closet or a doorway we’re there is that 2 inch space and then a corner, no need to cut that at all
I discovered I have not one single wall that is straight ( no bowing) and not even corners. They look it but they are liars. I had to fiddle with paper every time I made a corner.
@@robbennett9631that’s the trouble. He says to use this method if the corner is not straight but then the next piece will not be straight lol that’s why we put a plumb line on the adjacent wall. You’d be better off using the method he suggested if the corner IS straight, then you’d save a littler time hanging it plus the adjacent wall has more chance of being straight for the next sheet
i,e, was it plastered prior to the advent of plasterboard?? Then good luck on having straight walls. I am here because not only was my house built in 1913 but every man that worked on it was probably drunk at the time...
V useful, watched all the way and this will solve many a problem now i know how to hide the overlap from general view, you are indeed an entertainer as well as an educator. And independently wealthy or not, you and my friend who has been a carpenter for 35 years would get on well. He often says do you want it done right or fast. Best wishes :) Coventry - England.
Laughed so much at the prozac 🤣🤣

Yes Darren. I agree!
@@spencercolgan you said ideally you shouldn’t cut in corners this information is incorrect
This guy uses the same technique used on many council estates AKA the bodge hang, or some may know it as, the gypo job. 😂😂
There’s Prozac for that 😂

The glue for the overlap? Please explain to me what do you mean
He means VoV on the underlap
Thanks for sharing!! You are so funny we love your video😀
lol.
The sheet coming out of the corner you should have used a plumb bob then it would be 100 per cent perfect
Gabriel, you must be from the UK… I hear you brother but I hate plumbob
@@spencercolgan May I ask if you don’t use plumb Bob then when you join the next piece this would be running out??

What if on the right side of the corner, the paper does not come out level?
Then you trim it with the guiding principle being plumbness of the wallpaper. Trim in corner
did your patterrn line up. you didnt show that on your cut and refit becauce of the off corner
Yes. Thank you for pointing that out for my viewers. I appreciate it
