I’ve been shooting Nikons since 1976. As an advanced hobbiest, I thoroughly enjoyed your 105 video. Great job! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you.
Thanks for you video. I like the style and tone of your new channel. A far cry from the FroKnowsPhoto, Tony & Chelsea etc… which is a good thing. It’s informative and quiet. Reminds me of Maarten Heilbron’s channel.
Bonjour ! I bought one last week. The lens is excellent for my backyard astrophography also. Thanks for this video. I enjoyed your approach, format, rendering and methodology. I am happy to subscribe !
Great video very useful. Thanks. I liked the Way you showed between Aperture and so on. And you talked in a perfect tempo easy to understand. I Got it Yesterday and today I did Take some nice photos Of butterflies. Its so perfect.
I just bought this lens last week and got it in last Sunday. I have not really had a chance to use it yet. It's my first macro lens so I'll have to take the time to learn how to use it as well as macro photography.
Congrats - it's a great lens! I am no expert at macro work either. I do product photography and this is my go-to lens. But it is great to be able to get close-up shots at 1:1. Light becomes the biggest challenge when you're so close to the work, but the 105mm length helps give you some breathing room for that. You made a great choice!
Hey - welcome! I started this channel because I really want to do content on this gear and experiences with it, etc. - but that would obviously not fit with the regular channel. At some point, I'll share the info and invite folks over, but I don't feel I have good enough content yet. Hope you'll stick around!
@Dan Stone - thanks! I think I made it a bit too long, too slow, and... well... too boring. I'm not interested in pretending to be a late night TV product salesman, but I do hope to be a bit more interesting in the future. Hope yours comes soon - you're going to love it! Sooooooo sharp!
Don't you hate waiting!! I still have things on backorder and preorder that I'm dying to get my hands on. The current fiascos with supply chains are not helping. Hope you get your lens soon!

Does your lens make the grinding noise when focusing? I got one last month, the grinding noise was so loud. I called Nikon, they said that the way it is of this lens. So I returned it.
Thanks for watching! I have a long list of videos I plan to make, but time is in short supply these days and this new, unmonetized channel doesn't get much priority.
Interesting question. The 105mm focal length is a sweet spot that allows you to compose slightly tighter shots and still retain the environment. This lens is tack-sharp, and at f/2.8 very fast with razor thin DoF when wanted. Only possible drawback is that with the hood attached it can appear slightly big and might be more conspicuous than some other choices. It is also very lightweight. If you try one for that, I'd love to hear your feedback!
Yes, but there will be a crop factor when this FX lens is used on a DX body. I'm not certain how it would affect macro focusing distance (something I could try with the Z fc).
I was already sold on this lens as my first Z mount but now I just can't wait. Nice video, good images and aperture comparisons. Thanks

Thanks much. I'm trying to make more but it's difficult to find time to do them properly.
Watching this one year on… my Z-MC 105 is out for delivery. Yes, excited indeed!
Love your side-by-side comparisons.
Thanks! And congrats on the lens - I think you'll love it.

Received mine yesterday and loving it. The VR is amazing shooting Macro hand held!! Great Video, just subscribed.
Awesome! I know they have been hard for folks to get, so congrats! It really has become one of my most-often used lenses.

Nice to see a new channel. I used this lens to replace the Ai-S version, which is an amazing lens.
Yes, Nikon had big shoes to fill and I think they did it. This lens has become my bread and butter for product shots.
Good review, tnks a lot! I'll buy this lens soon!

I like your presenation style
That lens is on my next to get list
You'll love it!
When I saw your face on a photography oriented video I said to myself, "Now this is a guy who can talk about the true caliber of a lens!" ;D

Nice and informative presentation.waiting on my new 105m Z lens to show up. It's been 3 weeks and feels like about a year.

Nice work man. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks much! I think I was a bit too boring in this one.... I'll need to find my balance, but I do have a lot of amazing gear to review!
I can’t wait for mine to show up. So far it’s been almost 3months

Great Video >> I have 4 Z Lenses but this will complete my Needs
Good choice!
Excellent!
How do you feel about using this lens for something completely uncharacteristically, like fast-paced street photography?

Awesome! 😊
Have you think to do a video with the 105mm and the TC 2x ? 😁
That would be interesting, but I don't think the 105mm is compatible. I will verify, but pretty sure it is not.
@@KnightsandWeekends You are right... It is compatible with the 70-200 and bigger... Oh well, wishful thinking 😀😀
Hello from Italy. Dave you mention your other channel, where can we find it?
It's called "Justin Opinion", but it is completely different subject matter - I do mostly firearm reviews there.
I would never shoot macro at f22 or in direct sunlight.
So, f/22 in direct sunlight is probably out of the question then?
Can this be used with z50?
Yes, but there will be a crop factor when this FX lens is used on a DX body. I'm not certain how it would affect macro focusing distance (something I could try with the Z fc).
@@KnightsandWeekends Thanks so much
@@KnightsandWeekends Distance to 1:1 macro will be same, but the image will look closer because of the crop factor.
@@Lon1an That makes sense - thanks.
