A short TAS featuring an absurdly fast character with bad sound effects in a broken game. This version is over 2 minutes faster than the previous version (tasvideos.org/537M.html) due to a warp glitch. This glitch allows the player to start a level at the same X and Y coordinates as the player had when the previous level ended.
Note: The audio issues are a result of Gens's inaccurate audio emulation.

Sunsoft is at least a little to blame here for not keeping an eye on what developer NuFx (Recreational Brainware back then I suppose) was doing. I had this game growing up and it was... not fun. Didn't stop me from trying to beat it anyway.

I honestly feel like even that is too cohesive of a philosophy to describe the design of this game. Even uncertainty itself is an uncertainty with this fucking thing.
I've had this game since I was a child and never finished it despite playing it more times I could count on my old crt TV.
And now, here I am about 20 years later and witnessed the entire drug trip, fever dream of a game this really is. How does both the visuals and audio amount into a complete acid fantasy?
All I can say is: To hell with this game and it's minecart level.
I remember my Dad getting angry at me because I was getting so frustrated at that level. But he didn't understand - he wasn't an 11 year old kid who was under immense pressure to beat this game before the 2-day rental expired and he had to return it to the video store.
Wait shouldn't this be called _Tas-Mania_ ?

But... how can these levels be done SO FAST ?!
I didn’t see any screen wrapping of anything to suggest glitches, but there were several levels where he started somewhere other than the normal start point
due to glitch, when he finish the lvl, he stay in some kind of right spot, the game use this for put taz in some internal coordinate, and apeare almost nex to exit level.
You can land as a tornado to avoid the cutscene before the Taz double. 5:26

On the 2nd mine level the elevator that you have to jump on loads of times can someone please jump on it a few times jump back on middle ledge then while elevator is up spin down under it then tell me what happens madness

Nah just the minecart stage, the rest is easy compared to other Genesis titles...

Technically, it's improper emulation, but it's not like it would sound much better with better emulation. This is the GEMS sound driver we're talking about.
@@solarflare9078 that’s true. I had this game and even with the fixes it still sounded like a whole bunch of noise. lol. It’s crazy that electronic arts and streets of rage are probably the only companies and games to get the sega synth it’s full potential when it was in service.
@@GamerGee There was several other games. Namely games that used the Terpchoriean (spelling....) sound driver used by Hitoshi Sakimoto, the Zyrinx driver used by Jesper Kyd, and of course any of Technosoft's drivers.
Honorable mentions go to the Krysalis driver, which has ridiculously clean drum samples, Data East's sound drivers, also clean PCM playback, or Konami's Hyperstone Heist sound driver, which, despite the name, was also used in Sunset Riders and Rocket Knight Adventures.
Also, for comparison with the examples you gave, SoR1 used the SMPS driver, SoR2 and SoR3 used Ancient's in house drivers, and EA had various drivers by Rob Hubbard, Steve Hayes (the worst), Don Veca, Kevin Pickell (my absolute favorite), etc
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom arcade, sounds similar to this game. Mola Ram is pleased.

Tell me about it. It's done with the horrendous GEMS sound driver, which is KNOWN for giving the Mega Drive a bad rep for audio
