Recently I’ve just got back into Lily and reading her book, I’ve gained a whole load of respect for her. She’s a strong person and a cool performer. Hope she performed glasto this year!
She admitted after this that the performance was basically payment for the brit award and it meant nothing. If you watch the brits or vmas people who perform generally get awards too
That´s how it has been for many years, in my opinion. If you have a huge single or album, then you get nominated and maybe even win some of the awards. Because the more mainstream oriented these award shows gets then the media and people in society will talk about the award shows. If you don´t have the biggest names in the music business, at the award shows they will loose interest from the public and not that many people will turn on the television to see the award shows, because then they don´t know the artists that is going to perform at the award shows. So they have to book the huge artists and also get the huge artists nominated for the awards, because then the award show won´t get the needed interest and publicity to continue. .
This show would have been so much better with just Lily standing on stage singing by herself. We don't need all that extra crazy shit. It distracts from the song. The song in itself is powerful enough.
I don't blame a lack of presence here because they basically threw her into this weird and pointless performance with men in their underwear and ridiculous helmets and shit!? Non of it makes sense but she had no say in it. I'd feel like a cock too to be fair and be very disengaged.
