The volca kick is fantastic for sub-bass stuff. That deep bass. You can turn up the attack a little to get rid of the clickiness and turn up the sustain and program some solid basslines. Pattern chaining is a plus for songwriting.
Depends what you're looking for. I'd say yes - but they are different. Kick is better at doing one thing with lots of hands-on jamming. Drum is way more powerful, but can be finicky to dial in some things.

Can the volca drum make a kick as good as the vk?
Not like the Kick, no. The VDrum kick has its own vibe but it’s nowhere near as punchy.
