Thanks Dirty. I started roller skating one year ago. Took it up for the first time. Then at 64 years old went to a roller derby officiating class. Completed it and asked what's next? Join our league they answered. So now I am part of the Penticton Pistoleras roller derby team. The workouts and training is demanding. End each session sweating. But I love it. The people are so great and I am getting fitter every week. Thanks for your insofar I learned many skating maneuvers watching your UA-cam channel over the past year. ✌️❤️

I love you guys so much! I’m 52 and this Saturday November 25 is my 1 year skateversary! I fall more in love with it every day. I was doing okay skating around the rink but not really progressing. So I started taking lessons this past September and it has helped so much. I’m the only adult in the class, (there was a couple of others but they quit already), but I’m having so much fun and trying things I never thought I would be able to do. Dirty’s videos have also helped me connect the dots and you both inspire me to keep at it. ❤

Oh, you are inspiring! I’ve been considering taking lessons, but didn’t want to be, “the only adult in the class.“ Maybe I will explore lessons anyway.

Ever since I was a kid I would look forward to going to the park on weekends and putting on my skates. I have 2 older sisters so we all shared one pair of rollerblades. I would be rocking a women size 6 when I was just a Youth size 1. I always thought I was somewhat good just because I could move forward and brake. I stopped for a long while then covid happened and I broke up with my ex and needed to do something fun. Since my job sent us home to work remotely for 3 years. I took time during my 30 min lunch breaks to get a good skate sesh in. It has been a great journey learning from Dirty. She has been my idol through it all. Now that I returned to working at the office I don’t have as much time to skate. But this video reminded me that I still and will always have love for skating. And I will reach my skating goals because I have until forever to master it. Thank you ladies for always putting me at the right head space. Love you guys! Keep being awesome ❤ have a happy new year.

I ice skated as a little kid but gave up when the going got though. Getting into rollerskating as an almost 40 year old is doing some real healing shit to my psyche that kicked off 32 years back when I stopped skating. It is a truly incredible object lesson.

I started roller skating when I was really little with my older sister until she moved out of the house. As years went by my little sister and I would go the skating rink almost every Sunday throughout middle school. Then we had stopped skating for years until our 20s and my little sister started it back up again and just seeing flow on her skates made me buy my first, second, and third set of skates. I hyper focused on learning skating backwards and my spins. I stopped skating about a year ago because our schedules didn't line up and I love having a skate partner because I have really bad anxiety doing public activities. It's so much more fun with another skater! So ya'll are talking about "Making a comeback" and I find myself daydreaming about it all the time. I think it is my time to make a comeback and dust off the o'skates, move past the anxiety and try to get back onto my quads!! Thank you for inspiring me and all the videos that I've learned from and maybe one we could meet ya'll at a rollercon!! Love ya 🤗

My chosen roller derby name (I was a penalty box timer) was Skid Mark. They changed it to Skidz.

Another wildly entertaining podcast. Yes, can relate. So what if I can't do everything I used too. Nothing like that feeling of being at the rink.

Thank you! This was perfect - the inspirational video I needed to get the weekend started right! :) I was already thinking about taking my mother to Vegas next year. Hm, maybe I should plan this trip around RollerCon. That is, if I can get confident enough to move forward, stop and turn and not fall all over the place lol But until then I still have half a year of practicing - that would be a nice milestone, one more reason not to give up :) All the best, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes!!!. Thank you for sharing. I've had a lot of sicknesses to the body and crazy tachycardia for way too long. This last year recovering from liver and spleen issues due to having had mono. At the age of 47. Momma to 5. I seen our skating Rink had learn to skate and intermediate lessons. Wanted my girls to learn to skate. So I needed to do it. Had to wait for ligaments to heal
I've bought my own skates now and thanks to a lot of your videos I tell everyone they need to skate too! It just feels so goof. Like you side mentally, and physically!!! Keep it going!!

I will be 56 Dec 2. I just came back to skating 5 months ago. But I have only done a little bit of actual skating this past week. I have felt like such a failure over these months because I have really struggled to skate on the rough surfaces that are available to me to skate on. But I finally found a a place that has a bit better surface, and I am finally starting to skate. I have a long way to go to get any good at it. But my goal all year has been to be able to go skate for my birthday. So I will keep practicing as much as I can over this next week. And hopefully can have fun skating on my birthday! And btw. I LOVE these podcasts! I hope you will do a lot more. They are so inspiring. 🥰💖🛼🛼

When will we get to see images of these past Dirty's? Even just in a figure skating leotard, eating mac n cheese with her wheels kicked up on a chair. 😂
Thanks ladies, for thinking to share this experience -given wisdom with us.

23:29 duuude, adria, that was totally me last Friday, totally down..I call it “kicking and screaming” until I get there, then had an amazing experience, completely elevated and grateful in the end, rejuvenated if you will , Im a grappler train in Jiujitsu, I needed that vibe 💃☀️💪😎👏🌞🌛✨🪐💫☄️💓 thank you for the awesome session, loving the vibe, totally locked in, ESPECIALLY love, the idea of the comeback, having a similar experience with grappling right now. I took a 2.5 year break, got stronger, now making a comeback 💪😎💯💓 appreciate you both for your service!

Wow, a podcast that isn't 2 years old! I've graduated to skating around the house in my SureGrip Boardwalks. I don't get nervous anymore so it's a start. I get a little jealous of you guys in Long Beach, because I've left California probably forever. Hey Deb, I agree about the former jobs, as I went through many jobs for decades! Most of those jobs are just boring! YOU GOTTA DO WHAT YOU LOVE, (the money will follow.) Yes that is an actual book title. My best career was driving trucks for the last 12 years until I retired. I just started skating at age 65. I hope to keep improving. Thank you for the encouragement. 🌷🌺🌹❤🛼

Hey Dirty! I recently have been connecting with other skaters across the country, and one of them mentioned something about how talking about an injury in skating is a taboo. Do you know of any taboos like this or others within skating?
