At first I agreed that this crossover made no sense within the lore of Hunt Showdown, but then I did some research and discovered that the scream mask from the 1996 movie was inspired by an 1893 painting called 'The Scream' by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. Which in turn was supposedly inspired, according to Wikipedia, "by a Peruvian mummy, which Munch could have seen at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris". So it could stand to reason that the same mummy that inspired Edvard Munch to paint "The Scream" also inspired the Scream character to put on the outfit we see in Hunt Showdown. Or perhaps its Edvard Munch himself underneath the mask. Which actually makes sense when you consider that the latest mythic hunter "The Shroud", released in the last update, is wearing a mummy outfit. Its kinda tenuous, but not quite as ridiculous as it seems at first.
1:07 there's been plenty of skins that go against the "Hunt aesthetic", but because Ghostface is prominent figure in pop culture, people are complaining as if there weren't previous skins like that since he's well known, and I've noticed the playerbase loves to pick and choose what they deem suitable for Hunt and what's not - like the brand new Red Riding Hood skin for example: her story is set in the 1600s, she doesn't fight or use weapons, and is almost killed by a talking Wolf that is able to disguise himself as human... Why wasn't anyone talking about that when the event began? Ghostface looks sick imo, and the developers even redesigned him to be a literal serial gunslinger, when they could've easily used his movie attire and called it a day, meanwhile everyone is showing how ungrateful they are when Crytek only did this in order to continue supporting their game
No has nothing to do with pop culture. I like the attire. They changed it to match the game. I was hope just more uniqueness in the face. Just to allow them to twist it. I think they have a great design team. Let’s go away from him look at the silence frontier. I have seen a similar pattern on other guns. Why not put like a red skull pattern on it instead of the vine design? Why just black silence bornheim? Maybe I can’t see the handle and might be something on the pistol. I rather see them push more uniqueness. Let them cook. I rather see something that is jaw dropping and be like holy shit that looks amazing.
@@Shadow_of_Gaming black weapons are cool to me since he wears all black in the movies, but the mask seems to be slightly cracked to differentiate itself but I agree they could've done more to it, however the focus seemed to be the outfit instead
I think Little Red isn’t meant to be the literal Little Red Riding Hood from the fairy tales-her name isn’t Blanchette, and there’s no evidence she actually encountered a talking wolf disguised as a human (Bio only says 'The Wolf of the woods'). Instead, she’s likely a character who has taken on a persona from ancient legends that predate the current timeline in the Hunt universe, just like other characters. (Skinflint, Coal Bearer, llorona's heir etc.) This ties her more authentically to the game’s lore, unlike a Hollywood pop-culture icon from 1996, which feels out of place. While I think the design looks excellent and doesn’t necessarily clash with Hunt’s aesthetic, including such a character is polarizing enough to make it hard to justify it's addition, especially given its origins in the mid-'90s. People generally dislike including this skin because they believe it doesn't fit into Hunt’s pre-established universe. Using flawed comparisons like John Wick (an argument you used on Discord and other YT channels) would likely generate the same criticism as Ghostface’s inclusion as, again, it wouldn't be the quote quote 'suit' people would be upset with but the character itself. If you like the character's inclusion, that's fine, and you don't need to justify your preferences. However, objectivity and artistic integrity are more important to a game's overall value IMO. Still again, the skin looks fire.
Because red riding hood is folklore, just like Frau and Coal Bearer. Ghostface and his gimmick isn’t even doable in Hunt’s setting. No pictures, no phones. At least with the folklore characters their stories are separate and reflecting the time. Ghostface is what? The original? He hits up a Cowboy through the telegram asking “what’s your favorite scary moving picture?” 😂 don’t get me wrong, I like the skin but I’m not gonna say it fits the setting at all
This is probably one of they only crossovers that actually works, let’s them fit the crossover into the lore, and is era viable. This is not a sign of Family guy/marvel crossovers, if we hit that point, hut would be dead
I have issues with this crossover because I’m afraid that this is the first big step down the slippery slope, I haven’t been happy with a lot of recent skins but this one is concerning to me.
@@kanelandes3485 I have to disagree. Ghostface isn’t just a stab-happy maniac, there’s actually substance to the mantle. It’s just that all the gimmicks he’s known for can’t be done in this time period. No hacking, phones or cameras.
I understand wanting to change the mask to fit the time period, however, when working on a licensed IP you still have to meet certain parameters the IP holders want. In this case the original form of the Ghostface mask. They did age it to not be a stark white color, they changed the attire to fall more in line with the time period aesthetic and his weapons all have a subtle design. Crytek made him as period appropriate as they could while still adhering to to the agreement they signed for a Ghostface crossover. If someone has a complaint on the skin, they should at least know who to be upset with.
