Not sure if anyone noticed but Rathalos appears to have its own “stage.” However, this isn’t an actually stage you can play on. It appears to be more like the arenas you fight in during subspace emissary. So either a boss battles mode or that secret mode is a story mode.
Hoping for a story/adventure mode, but its possible that it could be one of those weird stages in arcade mode, like "Vs Metal Mario" in the 64 game.
I have been saying this all day! Rathalos isn't the only one, look at Dracula's fight. He also has a completely unique stage with no drop off points, despite a "Dracula's Castle" stage existing. Both Dracula and Rathalos also exibit very similar patterns to bosses in Subspace, unlike say stage hazzord bosses like Riddly in 4, where they barely acted like real bosses at all. Also in both instances of a Boss fight there was only ever ONE fighter on screen.
Actually, in the final hit against Dracula, both Richter and Simon were both on screen, Simon throwing the cross while Richter uppercuts.
Also, there are plenty of stage with no drop off points. This isn't new, even Melee has quite a few of them. This doesn't really confirm anything. Rathalos not having a "playable" stage makes subspace seem plausible though, but that might also be for Classic mode. It's still too early to say if Subspace is a thing with the current details, though the biggest hint we have so far that it might exist is the green button in main menu. But we won't get anything else supporting it unless Nintendo decides to hold another direct.

why did Simon walk up stairs that are still there on the stage then and there was very clearly nobody on that stage as well. the same with rathalos and Fox being clearly by themselves between that and the Mystery censored Green Space on the menu that could very easily be a Subspace mode it's pretty easy to think that it is Subspace

Actually, it's far more likely to be a new adventure mode. Maybe not to the scale of Subspace, but something along those lines. The Dracula Boss Fight, and Rathalos Boss fight kind of lean it closer to that, especially since they both have their own unique arenas that aren't built around standard smash combat. Also the line during the dracula explination "The results for how he appears, only time will tell" feels very much like a hyping of something far beyond just his fight. Also most people hated Smash tour so it makes very little sense that sakurai would bring it back when he clearly seems to be trying to please as many people as possible.
Alicia Fraser Yeah I agree. Putting Subspace would be very difficult. Something similar may appear. Smash Ultimate had a very condensed development time. They already paid for cutscenes for character trailers, meaning they would have to put much more money into outsourcing more cutscenes. Whatever we get, I hope people will appreciate Sakurai's effort.

It's a shame, because in that way, Fire Emblem is SERIOUSLY misrepresented. You have Axes, Lances, people who can turn into dragons, a TON of stuff, but the entire FE cast is Sword Users... Chrom is an important FE character, but it's sad to see such lack of variety.
We could use lance units like Catria, Hardin, Ephraim, Camus (and all his alts) and hell, even Fjorm, since IS likes promoting new games.

Richter Belmont is from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Play it, ESAM. It's a great game. It makes sense for Simon/Richter to have the chain whip because they could do that in the actual games. The music is great in Castlevania, too. Richter is a descendant of Simon. Chrom plays somewhat differently. He's like a mix of Marth and Ike. It looks like Dark Samus might be different from Samus in some way, as Sakurai mentions. Guys, Sakurai and his team really outdid themselves and gave us fans more than what we asked for. We've been so spoiled! As for the music, I guessed 1,000, but hey, 900 is close. Haha! The cool thing about rules is that you can set them and keep them set.

Actually no, while he is a part of Symphony of the Night, he's actually from Castlevania Rondo Of Blood, the game Symphony of the night comes directly after.
+Alicia Fraser You're correct. I've never played RoB. It does bum me out that people don't know who Simon or Richter Belmont are, though. SotN was one of the best Castlevania games. Then there's Castlevania IV, where you play as Simon Belmont. The box art appears to resemble Simon in SSBU. My brother and I have wanted Simon as a playable character at least since the SSBB days. I'm glad SSBU actualized this.
The Apistevist well super Castlevania 4 was a flatout remake of the original game with some extra area's, although the US localization team made the game say it was set after Castlevania 2 Simon's quest

+DM Wanderer Don't agree. There was an Animal Crossing stage in Brawl with no Villager, or any other Animal Crossing rep at all. Not to mention, I'm almost 100 percent sure Rathalos (And Drac for that matter) are story/adventure mode bosses, or at the very least, apart of some sort of boss mode. Dracula and Rathalos both have unique stages not found in the stage select screen (Dracula's Castle for standard fights, and the throne room you see during the Drac fight in the video are very different) and neither Unique stage has stop off point on either edge.

Same reaction when I saw Dark Samus. Sadly it looks exactly like Samus, but maybe a little faster since it hovers so it'll be a the tiniest bit better.
Honestly there's no telling how different Dark Samus will be, we don't know what the stat differences are, what the frame differences are, etc etc. The whole point of an echo fighter is to have different cosmetics, as well as different perimeters. Like how Crom is basically Ike, and Roy in one.
Cosmo 99 I notice that Dark Samus seems to have faster and less laggy dodges. Maybe Samus will have a better shield than her echo to further differentiate?

I would add that with 150% stamina, 3 stocks and 6 minutes, to make it even more of a fighting game (as what others kept saying). A true KO can actually be someone going down to 0 HP instead of worrying about the rage factor.
