Cant believe how this video shows how simple a "basic income" can be achieved on the side. This information is priceless. Thank you so much for sharing dear Richard.
love the simplicity of your winter operations. great to see the patreon money is going to good use! fancy new filming and lovely editing as well as the much needed better audio solution noted!
Fabulous Richard - would you be able to show how you harvest these micros and what stage of growth it happens? A great information video - appreciate it :-)
Inspired by your tale on microgreens in Denmark, could you share how you source seed, a major obstacle here. Thank you for Making a difference and Sharing
Wouldn't it be more energy efficient if you do the lights on at night? Might require less heating that way? Just a guess, it might not matter at all if the lights alone don't get the room to the optimal temperature at night. It would mean you can insulate the windows since they need to be dark anyway which would add to retaining heat.
So thankfull for all your videos I am setting up a Microgreen farm in Copenhagen - could you share how you source seed, a major obstacle here. Thank you for Making a difference and Sharing
Maybe to harvest all the heat from the lamps by moving the whole thing to the greenhouse....maybe less lamps would do the job also if you put them all to one table and use reflectors of somekind.... also cheap heat on sunny days from simple heat collectors made from old windows, the heat can be stored in watertank...
great work Richard and thanks for sharing..i have some questions: . how many hours a day you have the lights running in winter? . what are the heat and humidity conditions for growing micro-greens? . is it possible to grow micro-greens in winter without lights, just with sun light? . do the trays have holes, if not how does the water drain, can't that cause fungus? thanks again..
The mould spores are ever present in the air - probably fewer in cold climates - and love humidity. It can cause problems in greenhouses with poor ventilation, too. Airflow around the plants keeps it away, usually.
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to getting my own micro greens set up going in the UK. If anyone knows of good seed suppliers for bulk micro greens in the UK it would be great to hear from you. As you can see from my videos I'm in the very early stages of production. I don't even have any covered area yet but its early days.
Richard, is being able to buy a wagon like that for 200€ (300 Canadian dollars) a thing unique to Sweden's economy? I remember you mentioning sourcing a lot of free timber in your book, and attributing it to the wealth of the country. Would things be similar in the UK?
6 trays a week => 10 000 GBP/year? Either it is incredibly well paid greens or I have missed something... Can you explain? Favas (åkerböna?) are supposedly great microgreens, cheap seeds, available close to your place -we are trying out next few weeks
He explained in the video, showed you the spreadsheet, talked about the numbers and did the math. What's the problem? Richard even explained the most crucial part - that space is capable of much, much more production. You could produce, in my estimate, about $125,000 /yr (whatever your conversion (euro, pound, ) worth of product a year in that setup ... but it's completely, absolutely, and utterly useless to do so if you don't have the market to support it. You can't make the money if you can't sell it in your market. This is the part most trip up on.
There are so many wooden poles, block and sheets used for your construction.. what type of wood it is??.. what is the price.. is it so cheap??.. Could you please give me some details...
Richard is very busy and its not possible to answer individual questions, but most of the detail about all he does is in his book; I suggest you invest in a copy.

What about broccoli. I grow broccoli for myself because of the proof that broccoli micro green / sprouts prevent cancer. You have a farm so you can grow broccoli in the summer let the broccoli go to seed and become self sustaining.
You mistook him saying (Swedish) Crowns, for (GB) Pounds! Sweden has committed to joining the Euro when they meet the right conditions, which I believe is foolish! All attempts to join currencies from differing economies in the past have failed !

Hi Richard! That mustard looks like Rambo Radish. You should try watering from below if you are getting mold problems.
Can you show us the cows and sheeps in the winter? How do they survive this cold weather?
Thank you Richard! from North Spain :)

I think you really need to subscribe to the Patreon service if you want individual replies as he's a busy man.
Buy the book!
Thank you. Glad to hear the old tune again!
What causes the mold?
I would say humidity and particularly lack of airflow. But you can avoid it by using fans.

Have you tried to water your microgreens from the bottom to see if that might cut down on mold issues.

Those trays are very very big
Richard said they are 100 cm X 40 cm so 3' X 15" app.

EUR200 for an insulated wagon???
perfect
Microgreen lean-to/ zombie apocalypse bunker!
£104,000 does not equal about 10,000 euros. Well not yet anyway let's see what brexit brings.
Not pounds but 104 000 crowns (swedish/SEK)
