I'm GLAD you changed your mind about tearing everything down just to run them through the planer! I thought it would be a waste of time from the beginning. The place looks GREAT the way it is!! Beautiful!!
Hi buddy I really love your channel. The humor is awesome! You’ve done so much with chainsaws. I’m thinking Stihl should sponsor you! Thanks for sharing!
You can always fill the bad spots with resin. You always want to try new stuff and I'm sure you haven't done that to anything yet. It would look so cool. Love your work. Keep up the fantastic work.
It’s always a pleasure to watch your creativity unfold. The inside of your cabin is wonderful, as is! As some suggested use a hand planer on areas only you are bothered by, trust me, we see no flaws😉. Your self effacing humour and apparent lack of ego are so refreshing. Can’t wait for Tito to join you. Be safe buddy! Canadian fans 👵🐶😉🥰🇨🇦
I suggested that to u when you wanted to make your coffee table . Your cabin is very nice and if you like it that's what's important 👍 Good for you can't waite to see this table and the ceiling put n .
I redid the drywall in my little cabin in northern Michigan and wound up with a few cracks in the seams in the ceiling that no matter what I did, thry kept reoccurring so now I follow my neighbors advise after complaining to him about the cracks. His words of wisdom.....don't look up. It works for me.
I wish I had at least half of your energy and ambition. and it would help if I were 30 years younger. Thanks for the enjoyable videos of your projects.
Hello, Your a very entertaining man. Well I am learning a lot about wood working. I have enjoyed watching you work for about a week now. I also live on some acreage with abundance of fir trees. Just purchased a 24 in chainsaw mill to starting making wood. Your knowledge will save me time learning to mill. Thank you for all you do.
Thank god thank god thank god you changed your mind about plaining all the wall boards in the cabin. I absolutely love watching your videos but I prob would have skipped those.
I have the same setup w the gran. Just a thought for oversized logs by a few inches. You can mill at an angle from both directions on the log to reach across. Love the videos taught me alot before I started my projects.
I have seen some beautiful tables and cabinets made from the type of wood you milled. The person took out the rotted wood and put colored epoxy in the holes. Very beautiful!
Rule of thumb for drying wood is one in. per year left outside. Thank you for all the videos you give us, there fun to watch and we learn from them also.
Only found your channel by accident. So glad I have. I've learnt so much already. I really appreciate the manner in which you present each episode. I'm hopefully moving to canada next year to start a little homestead. You are already helping. Many thanks. Please keep up the great work.
Hey the worm, put that bubble insulation over the insulation on the ceiling before you cover it and that would help out a lot, love your work and videos.
That's a great idea. I learned that during WWII the US made some ships out of sawdust and ice to use in the war. They didn't actually use them but they left them in a lake for a very long time before they melted. That's right up your alley brother. I bet that would make a great winter video.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that old school English longbows were made from Yew staves that used both sapwood and heartwood. One is good in compression, the other is good in tension, but I don't know which is which...👍💪🇦🇺
Why not make some kind of 2 wheel dolly for pulling in your raw logs. That will keep the lead end out of the dirt and allow you to pull much more weight. Just jack it up a foot or so and put the dolly under chain it and giddy up !
When I see Ryan performing especially abusive maneuvers with the big knife I often think I would like to send him the 8 inch Survival Knife that I got for $10 at Harbor Freight. I had not expected much from it but I’ve beat the snot out of it and haven’t wrecked it yet. It was so cheap I don’t care much if fails but so far it hasn’t. Thanks for the video Ryan! 70.5K
24:41 I just did a white oak slab recently (wet, fell down in Jan, cut in may). 3.75” thick, 15.5(ish)” wide and 6’4” long. It weighed over 320#. Had to cut it into the 4x6” I wanted by rotating the slab 90* on the remainder of the log. Good luck lifting what you are about to cut!
With all that sawdust, you are to make a couple of raise Garden beds and then you can Take any wood that you don't need for anything else. And all the bark that you collect throw in the bottom of the garden bad. Then you can put the saw dust on top of that and then put some dirt on top of that. And then you got a really good growing area, quote your own food.
Great video. The log was a mystery until the end. It’s fun to watch you figure things… let’s just cut a wedge. If you decide that resin in the hole is a pain you could cut out a hole and slide a bowl in it and that could be your candy or dip bowl. One of those stainless steel little dog bowl with the wide lip. It still amazes me how much wood you can produce in a short time. Have a safe and happy 4th and down burn anything down or burn anything up!
For a guy who loves weird projects why not build a drying rack to store all these milling runs? All the wood in one place so you never have to wonder what you have, and some of it may even season properly.
As usual, thoroughly enjoyed your video! I was wondering how much poison ivy do you get all year long? Are you allergic to it? Anyway, I live vicariously through your outdoor milling adventures and lifestyle!
You might want to look into buying or building a log arch to go behind your ATV. You'd be able to skid multiple logs at a time and you won't be packing the bark full of dirt.
Suggestion Take something green Anything you want Greenwood cut it Molded into the shape you want into the bowl you want Set it there for 6 weeks be patient to make a bow You're gonna wanna shave the belly of the bow not the back of the bow Then you have to start warming up the wood When you get to that you talk to me otherwise you're not gonna make a bowl very well I know how to do it I researched it I've done it a couple of different times different ways
Out in the woods as you are this might not work but I use the measure/level app on my phone for all of the wood work and picture hanging level needs at the Akron Archives and it is always right-on the mark. That is one less tool to carry.
With respect to planing the wood, “Is the juice worth the squeeze”? The inside looks GREAT from our perspective, just leave it and don’t worry so much.
The English Longbow made out of Yew were constructed with a combination of yew heartwood for compressive strength and the sapwood for elasticity. The idea is a yew trunk makes quite a few longbow. Each one taken off the outside around the trunk. Henry VIII longbow Yew (As found on the Mary Rose Henry the VIII flagship) actually came from Turkey they did not use English Yew.
There's a short series of books called the Bowyer's Bible, which I would highly recommend for anybody wanting to start building their own bows. Also, spruce was used for wind generator blades, if it's good for that, then it should be good for a bow too.
Ryan, does your property butt up against National Forest? I saw the yellow and brown USFS sign, and they usually use red paint on the trees that surround a corner survey marker.
Decided to do the same. But can't move it till I make some 10x10 by 8 foot post. It was a 20 diameter leaning dry white pine. My little 65 cc with 20 bar died.
I got a stupid question most of that cedar wood chips saw dust why don't you use that as a to get rid of insects seem like it would work Spread it on your property see what happens What does cedar do nextly get rid of insects right smart Think about it
SO WINCH your 3.5"" into your ATV Trailer so it is then closer to where you will need/use it. Moving something from a high place to a lower place which is easier to use is better.
you know the coffee table is a good idea on paper . but it might be easier to make it thinner out of lighter wood . remember you have to hang it so you will want it light . if you decide to move it it will need to be light . if you cant move it easy by your self its way to heavy for what your trying to do . might want to rethink this one .
dude all that sawdust would make awesome ice storage. make blocks ice in winter and have underground packed with that sawdust you could probably make the ice last into the summer.
Just put a little denatured alcohol on a rag and rub that dirt and hand prints right off. That should do the trick. Pretty soon you'll stop looking up and it won't even bother you anymore. 😅
Actually what you want is maple you want a hardwood for a longbow that cedar is not gonna have Power behind the bow it's a soft wood you actually used Maple Sapling growing tree that's what you're supposed to use I researched many many many times
I think that generator is just a little small to run your planer. If you don’t buy a carry around generator you can get more for your money by buying the bigger size that sits on the ground on legs. You need about 4000 W of power to do what you want.
Good advice for anyone buying a generator... Go Honda. If it doesn't Start first time you've left the fuel tap turned off 😅 I have two Hondas one 2000 watts and the big 7500 auto start hooked to my off Grid solar and they are Bullet proof.
I have the Harbor Freight version (2000 watt Predator) of your generator. Mine refuses to stay running if an oil change or new spark plug is due. They have such a small amount of oil in the crankcase that it doesn't take long (8-10 hours of runtime) to get dirty. The spark plugs are pretty tiny too and the gap is critical. Who knew the Chinese would make something so finicky?
I think you should build a logging ARCH TRAILER to help you lift and move bigger heavier logs as it uses wenches and chains similar to your log lifter AND YOUR LOGS STAY CLEANER. Ivwe seen acouple of them now Dave Wiffle with bush radical and another younger canadian guy as in work smart and not hard basically two wheel trailer with no axel between it and an arch and a long bar to hook to the hitch or ball on your atv its a pretty amazing tool and can save you a lot of physical lifting and TRANSPORTING millable logs. And maybe build you a heavy duty milling table for either milling single or multiple logs for milling with ramps n that way you can use the wench from your atv instead of trying to lift them onto the table n you can drill peg holes in your table for holding your logs secure while milling them. Just my two cents work smarter not harder and stay healthier while your doing it course thats up to you...
It's beautiful on east side upper Peninsula of Michigan From the ariya and the woods in the snow West side of the state upper peninsula you could handle the The winter snow If I'm right there What's 39' snow 1 year Yeah I've been a Michigan 47 years I've seen 99% of the state
I paused this video at the exact moment you said "Milling Wood" and if Tito ever needs to get a job in the male cabaret, I think it would be appropriate to use that as his stage name.
I'm GLAD you changed your mind about tearing everything down just to run them through the planer! I thought it would be a waste of time from the beginning. The place looks GREAT the way it is!! Beautiful!!
Morning Ringers!
Good morning, Ringer J83!
Nice to see a fellow regular this Saturday!

I was going to say those slabs are begging for epoxy resin lol
Get some glow in the dark resin and make a picnic table 2.0 fo extra activities...
I told you months ago you wouldn't end up pulling all the walls back down to plain the boards.
Oh how right I was!😊
It’s always a pleasure to watch your creativity unfold. The inside of your cabin is wonderful, as is! Morning Rayn you might be able to get a nice kitchen countertop out of some of that log be happy be safe
You could use your hand planer on the places that you really are bothered by. It looks good from here.😁👍
The 1 thing I really like about Yooper's You're always really nice and polite you Noticed about up there everybody is really really nice
Honestly man I really like your home mill. Thats as solid as I have ever seen.
Im a carpenter of 40 years and I enjoy watching you work.
Thanks for the enjoyable videos of your projects.
looks like the perfect timber to try a resin river coffee table
It's not an annoyance Ryan, it adds character to what you have built.
How about a trip down memory lane with all your builds?
Hello, Your a very entertaining man. Well I am learning a lot about wood working. I have enjoyed watching you work for about a week now. I also live on some acreage with abundance of fir trees. Just purchased a 24 in chainsaw mill to starting making wood. Your knowledge will save me time learning to mill. Thank you for all you do.
Always a trip watching you mill lumber and build stuff! Can’t wait to see the floating table!
What is life without Joy?🕊️❤️🔥
Thank god thank god thank god you changed your mind about plaining all the wall boards in the cabin. I absolutely love watching your videos but I prob would have skipped those.
I have the same setup w the gran. Just a thought for oversized logs by a few inches. You can mill at an angle from both directions on the log to reach across. Love the videos taught me alot before I started my projects.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You I was tormented with the waste of time to plane the interior and you have great ideas to go forward with
Thinking you should look at building or purchasing a log arch for your atv
Great idea. I was hoping that you would not take the walls down. 🎉
I have seen some beautiful tables and cabinets made from the type of wood you milled. The person took out the rotted wood and put colored epoxy in the holes. Very beautiful!

That’s always fun watching you mill. I love seeing what nature has given us to use. Those big slabs look awesome. Learn how to epoxy those bad spots.
I like watching the milling and stuff
Looking good, Tito.
Looks great good job.
Summer time ☀️
Hey the worm, put that bubble insulation over the insulation on the ceiling before you cover it and that would help out a lot, love your work and videos.
Oh Tito @33:37 😆
That is one heck of a chain saw 👍👍🏆
Excellent video!
You should build a sawdust ice building this winter just to see how long one can last
That's a great idea. I learned that during WWII the US made some ships out of sawdust and ice to use in the war. They didn't actually use them but they left them in a lake for a very long time before they melted. That's right up your alley brother. I bet that would make a great winter video.
I think a bark ceiling would be great! It sure would be different...
Awesome awesome 👏🏻
You make firewood really carefully !
Four years to nearly season that slab. You really need a covered wood storage shed !!
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that old school English longbows were made from Yew staves that used both sapwood and heartwood. One is good in compression, the other is good in tension, but I don't know which is which...👍💪🇦🇺

Happy 4th of July enjoy the show.👵😍🇺🇸
Enjoyed the video
That spot just add to the look of the table..
I built a shelf that had a hole in it. I filled it with resin and put a seashell in it. 👍👍😎
When I see Ryan performing especially abusive maneuvers with the big knife I often think I would like to send him the 8 inch Survival Knife that I got for $10 at Harbor Freight. Bout time for some chainsaw art on the property ... you can do it
That’s one heck of a pile of sawdust you can probably sell it for mulch lol🇺🇸👍
Your big knife is getting some good patina there..
Remember to relax on 4th of July🇺🇸🙏👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Mornin👋😎👍
Maybe an ATV Log Arch in the future???
Great video. The log was a mystery until the end. It’s fun to watch you figure things… let’s just cut a wedge. You could use a log arch to move the logs off the ground with 4 wheeler.
Love it.

I’m wondering if you can take a wet rag and wipe off the chalk lines and muddy handprints?
Maybe build some sort of loft for storage or sleeping especially in winter.
With respect to planing the wood, “Is the juice worth the squeeze”? The inside looks GREAT from our perspective, just leave it and don’t worry so much.
You really need to get a 25" bar for that saw so you can use it on your smaller mill.
The English Longbow made out of Yew were constructed with a combination of yew heartwood for compressive strength and the sapwood for elasticity.
The idea is a yew trunk makes quite a few longbow. Each one taken off the outside around the trunk.

Red wine vinegar really takes away the sting also for chiggers
Be ok with your wall boards. Why create more unnecessary work for yourself. ❤😊From this vantage point it looks marvelous. Always has.
Dig out the garbage spots and fill with epoxy or an epoxy and sawdust mix, that would look cool I think...
Can you use epoxy to fill the voids in the slabs?
I forgot the name of the yellow flower, they are beautiful up close.
Yellow Lady's Slipper
I got a stupid question most of that cedar wood chips saw dust why don't you use that as a to get rid of insects seem like it would work Spread it on your property see what happens What does cedar do nextly get rid of insects right smart Think about it
Why don't you just take a Oreo sander And hit every so often when you get free time to do it if you do it right it's gonna take it all part LOL
You should try burning coffee, it deter mosquito and other insects.
SO WINCH your 3.5"" into your ATV Trailer so it is then closer to where you will need/use it. Moving something from a high place to a lower place which is easier to use is better.
You need to get a spud or anz too peel that extra thick bark. Save your chain, back and knife from wear and tear.
you know the coffee table is a good idea on paper . but it might be easier to make it thinner out of lighter wood . remember you have to hang it so you will want it light . if you decide to move it it will need to be light . if you cant move it easy by your self its way to heavy for what your trying to do . might want to rethink this one .
dude all that sawdust would make awesome ice storage. make blocks ice in winter and have underground packed with that sawdust you could probably make the ice last into the summer.
You could experiment with Resin and fill the bad spots for your hanging coffee table......
oops! sorry to repeat others, just read the previous comment.....resin must be a good idea then! ha!

With a log dolly you can move 30 ft. logs easily and save wear and tear on the wheeler.
If you have some use Ash wood for your bow. That is traditional English Long Bow wood.
I can't imagine cedar would have much poundage but I'd try it!!
I think you should build a logging ARCH TRAILER to help you lift and move bigger heavier logs as it uses wenches and chains similar to your log lifter AND YOUR LOGS STAY CLEANER. Holy smokes! Please protect those Yellow Lady Slipper orchids. It's an endangered and protected species.
I'm surprized you have not built or had built a cradle to put the front of a log on to drag it. Only the tail of the log hits the ground then.
Order a 42" or 48" bar. 😮😊
I paused this video at the exact moment you said "Milling Wood" and if Tito ever needs to get a job in the male cabaret, I think it would be appropriate to use that as his stage name.
