I'm still amazed at the amount of comments I got on my weapon showcase saying this game was good. It's bad, very bad. If you want to come hang out and watch me possibly play more bad games (hopefully some good ones, too) then give a follow to my twitch! www.twitch.tv/jarek4gamingdragon/
Next game - Project I.G.I.
Sorry, I've not any interest in that game.
Yep its bad.
Its got the charm of unique weapons at least that you don't see often. (More if you use the weapon unlocker patch for the strangly console exclusive XM8 and an other one or two and the few cut weapons) but even for budget bargin trash enemies pretty much use one weapon with no attachments and the fact you have to turn the difficulty down to easy so the later game enemies "Only" kill you with 2 shotgun blasts at range just makes it frustrating.
You even got weapons like the CAR 12 (Which has a different name IRL) or that multi-barreled pistol that are literally in no other video game and screwing around with them is the only reason I occasionally play this game, you can also exploit the mission select function to choose your weapons all the time even when weapons are supposed to carry over from the previous level.
Heck, the game actually has 4! grenade types, Frag, Smoke, Flashbang and incenidary yet only frags are available in the campaign.
You can also with most pistols anf as few of the smgs press the Grenade Launcher button to hold it with two hands which is kinda cool.
If the difficulty was more fair, the game was a little longer, enemies used most of the games weapons and with attachments and the different locations actually stood out instead of basically being the same jungle-y desert-y environment copy-pasted, this could have at least passed for a mediocre game with a unique weapons set instead of an outright bad one with a good weapons set.
You said Hex right... but you fail at computers. It Is Eye-N-Eye file not innie file.
Can't wait for the Darkness videos!

Loved playing the multiplayer because of the feature where you can shoot the limbs off other players. Nothing better than joining a server with friendly fire enabled and shooting the legs from under your teammate and laughing at him when he is sitting there legless trying to figure out WTF just happened.
Me and my dad used to play a shitton of this game's MP since it was one of the few games that had no DRM and just let you play the multiplayer cracked out of the box. Looking at it now the game is pretty crappy but damn do I have fond memories of it.
Back in like 2008 me and my friends played the hell out of this game in multiplayer. It has cool maps and the variety of guns and their extensions make it super fun. Plus it was way more accessible than smth like Call of Duty or Battlefield. I picked up one pirate copy (don't judge me, in my remote place that was all I could find), and I shared it with friends. It didn't have no steam, origin or any other kind of protection for multiplayer, you just start a server and your friends join it.
that oddity about the different reloads from swapping weapons is a Cauldron thing. It was in a Cauldron hunting FPS called Cabela's Big Game Hunter: 2010 as well.
: the song I believe used for the boss fight where Jarek just had enough is Disco Inferno, from the “Uncanny Valley” album by Perturbator
What's even weirder that SOF Payback (more or less its assets like the some of the sounds, maps, guns etc) were used, and made into Korean F2P MMOFPS, just called SOF Online, made by Dragonfly who made Soldier Front 1 & 2. Too bad it never really left beta and seems like theres no way to play it now, only early 240p-360p videos on YT really exist of it.
How about a link to all the mods and fixes that you're using?
15:32 “Good Point.”

This game is soooooo freaking bad it hurts Seeing it again😣🤣
On the comment about the g36 and xm8; its oft mentioned that the xm8 was really just an export g36 for the American military, I'd guess that there's some level of compatibility.
That's my man Steve Blum at the lowest point of his career.
Really, oh wow
Actually, Blum doesn’t voice anyone in this game; Mason is voiced by Kyle Hebert.
@@ludicrousfool7953 oh good, Kyle sounds cool but damn that writing is shit
@@ludicrousfool7953 So Kyle is to Steve Blum to what Matt Mercer is to Troy Baker.
That's actually not Steve Blum, even though it sounds really similar. On the flip side, Secret Service actually had both Steve Blum AND Nolan North in it!
Is no one gonna mention the fact that it looks like they just slap a scope/rds jpg on your screen when you ads with guns that have those attachments?

But yeah, that shit always bothers me in games
That intro and this review has earned you a subscriber, friend
The multiplayer for this game was fucking solid though. I paid 50 cents for it when i bought my 360 and i fucking loved this shit
Your PC volume is much quieter than your microphone so try compressing your audio in post production to make it sound nicer
Yes, that's intentional. That was recording from my stream. If the game was just as loud as my mic, you wouldn't be able to hear me at all.
JarekTheGamingDragon ok thanks. I was just saying when you were showing dialogue I had to turn my volume up.
I found the Afghanistan level fun. I had a silenced M4 type of gun and it was early enough in the game that the enemies weren't super OP (except for those rocket launcher pricks). But most of the levels were a complete grind, getting killed over and over, playing through the same section again and again just to figure out where that insta-death was coming from. The mansion full of Russian shotgun mooks is responsible for me learning how to say some very rude things in Russian. And the mad Irish car bomber level was a nightmare. Like you said, the only way forward is forward but every single thing is booby-trapped so BOOM every other step. So while I did enjoy one part of the game the rest of it was pretty uniformly awful.
If you are looking for an FPS that is both bad and good in a number of ways, how about Command & Conquer Renegade? I loved the idea behind it and it was very cool for its time but it also has some shortcomings. But I used to love setting an Ion Cannon Beacon at the door of a Nod barracks and then running inside to watch all the soldiers melt when the blast hit.
As soon as i saw this runs on the same engine as those terrible cabelas hunting games i knew it was gonna be trash but god damn if i didnt have fun running around like dollar store rambo
BigBossCSM heck they made one a those. It’s an on rails shooter and looks like someone took a shit and smeared it on your eye😂
And the matter of fact that you have to press a button to climb.
The multiplayer was insanely good

Human Boss battles are my biggest pet peeve in "realistic" Shooters, just give the bad guy a tank or something their is no reason for a human character to survive half a magazine from a .50 rifle if your selling point is "Realistic Combat" sorry rant over
I don't mind it if they at least only take a little bit more.
But the bosses in this game take several LMG belts.
Kinda like how you can unload 2 and a half mags out of an FAL in FO3 into a feral ghoul reaver's head but that lucky .44 shot in VATS will send viscera halfway across the Capital Wasteland.
@David Ransom
I think he confused it with the G3 which was the Assault Rifle in FO3
I have seen people complain about bad boss battles in many games where the characters are normal humans but its probably really difficult to make a cool boss battle if they are not allowed to use advanced sci-fi weapons or magic or superpowers or being mutated into a monster or other similar stuff.
Even in stuff like Batman Arkham Asylum for example how would you make a good boss battle against the Joker if hes just regular Joker?
@@CyberLance26 Joker's not above using "props" in his schemes, Rocksteady could have made a decent puzzle boss if Warner/DC had forced them to stick closer to the Nolan movies. personally I'd rather have end the game with a dramatic escape, like the warthog escape in Halo, or something more like the final mission in a Sniper Elite game (the real ones not Rebellions CoD Zombies nonsense) where you've panicked the villain into flight and now you have to ambush him. Modern Warfare 1's "Shoot the guy while in Last Stand mode" is also acceptable, hell, I'd even take Farcry 3 and Battlefield 4's Quick-time event boxing match endings, I'd mock them the whole way through but, its still better than nothing
I feel personally attacked cuz of my name lol 😂

That's the same shotgun model they use in "Jurassic the Hunted" two years later.
Yeah, I noticed that too, and the pistols and rifles reload the same too. Guess they got really lazy and just reused the assets without changing anything.
Pretty sure the Bar model is from Battle for The Pacific, and the black powder guns are all from the History Channel Civil War games. Nothing was original.
Cauldron made all their games on the same engine, so they just recycled everything.
Fun fact: this game was banned in Australia for being to violent. It had kinda develop a cult following down in the underground gaming scene
So you’re telling me in order to play the game I bought I have to be the programmer of the game before I play it??
That reminds me of those program books that had you code the game yourself.

Having 3 reload animations for the m16 is actually really cool, ive never seen that in a game. The reason it's has 2 empty reloads is because normally the bolt is held open after the last bullet, but you would manually close the bolt if you were putting it away so it doesn't automatically chamber a round. If the bolt is closed you need to manually charge it when you reload
Many many people have been trying to tell me this but this is not what's happening in the animation. The bolt is still open in the animation even when pulling the charging handle back. This would work on a regular AR, it's just an odd choice.

The Darkness 1 changed my life. I had never heard of it before the game came out, and I'm a huge first person shooter fan, but I also love sci-fi fantasy and dark horror... I look forward to the darkness again~
Gonna sound like a sick maniac but I don't think the guns felt like they had any power or impact in this game. You shoot a guy and he just flops over, there's no reaction to the bullet force or anything. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Red Dead Redemption - prime examples of ragdoll physics done right.
Also when you use a scope its like shooting a water pistol,I get that he is a trained soldier but recoil will still kick in
Unrelated; red dead 2 shooting physics look like a spaghetti western, with jump deaths, flailing and buckled knees to boot.
No pun intended
M S also this game is over 10 years old
Bullets dont make people go flying. They usually just drop like a sack of potatoes.
Yeah but its not realistic. Thats just hollywood. If u shoot someone with a shotgun they dint go flying back. They just drop like a sack
Love the of PS1 intro music. if I had a gaming channel I'll would used original Xbox music with the with green lightning sound when you power the console on.
Far from looking bad, pretty decent for the time and well optimised (could run it on an old laptop i had at that time and it ran smoothly) gunplay is decent, quite fun trying new loadouts, story is an inexcusable piece of shit and doesn't deserve be part the SOF franchise, never run into those problem that you mentioned in the beginning(might be wrong as i played it 10 years ago), the gore is an extreme downgrade from SOF II, guns felt nice but lacking impact on enemies(a little bit of the peashooter effect, enemies died easily but they didn't flinch or anything, it was more of a "careful push"). Pretty accurate review, a subject of it's time, and a bad one at it but a nice little time waster as the campaign was pretty short
I miss playing sof so much an underrated franchise.. This was my call of duty b4 call of duty..
Shout out to HL 1 and F. E. A. R
F.E.A.R 1 and its expansions are amazing
I thought GOG releases were supposed to work on newer OS without any problems. That's the main difference between this platform games and let's say Steam.

I like the good old games, I said good ones. But yeah old games... and newer pc's.. pain. What you mean there is no 16:9, what you mean I need to patch that in? What you mean I need to go into the INI's. Oh and what stupid old driver of the past in now in the way?
No 16:9 is baffling because this game isn't *that* old. It came out the same year of Crysis 1.
I love that the character runs at like 30 mph. Total immersion.
I think the gameplay is at worst mediocre. Often the gunplay is fun, and the visuals for its time and its budget are more than fine. But the voice acting and the story are utterly awful. You usually ask 'wait why am I doing this again?'

I remember playing this on the ps3 years ago. Personally, I enjoyed it. Perhaps I was too young to be bothered by all the bad stuff in the game xD.
The point you make at 8:40 is pure truth, i still play and enjoy the game BLACK more than most fps that come out today because of how awesome the gun feels in that game, the textures and reloading animations are top notch, the sound is meaty and powerful for all weapons. Also when you shoot at walls or in the ground the amount of dirt and debris thrown up by the bullets is awesome

@@Jarekthegamingdragon While I do agree to a certain point one of my biggest gaming dreams is for Capcom to remake Dino Crisis (the first one) and how amazing it would be.
What I like about Collision Course is that it's not multiplayer base building crap like Ark and that you can spend the whole thing just hunting Dino's as ammo is not hard to find at all.
I personally thought their most polished game was 2008's Secret Service. It had both Nolan North AND Steve Blum in it, it had true iron sights on its weapons, it had a nice leaning cover system, the graphics were actually pretty decent, and it had a surprising amount of diverse gameplay mechanics and level design elements for a budget game!
Had it for 360 back in the day growing up and I thought it was pretty cool, lot of good memories, don’t really get gore etc in games nowadays
There's really quite a lot of inaccuracies in this review. Most of the complaints are to do with running the game on modern hardware, and most games from over 10 years ago suffer in some form or other. The game was actually available on Steam, and I've never had any of the trouble in configuring the game that is mentioned.
1. No, none of the soldier of fortune games are on steam
2. *THIS GAME CAME OUT THE SAME YEAR AS CRYSIS.* 2007 is not some old school vintage time. 1080p had already become the standard and most PC games from that time work without a hitch. This game on the other hand requires a fix before it's even playable on any platform.
3. "I didn't have any problems thus they must not exist." Great for you. This comment doesn't do any thing for any one. Especially when I'm showing you common problems that MOST people are going to have.
If you're going to try to correct someone. Make sure you're not actually wrong yourself.
