Hey guys, I hope you get your website all spam comment free with this short Akismet tutorial. I use it on a lot of client websites and it works great. If you have any questions, just drop them down here and I'll be glad to answer them. Have a great day! 😊
Hi Marina! Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate that! You also have a great channel, keep it up 😀👍🏻 Have a great day and stay healthy and vegan💪🏻
I used Akismet for a while. It blocked some spam but lots got through. I just had to stop accepting comments and abandon forms. Looking at this tutorial though, I'm tempted to give it another try.
Hi David! Thanks for sharing your experience. It does work pretty good nowadays, so definitely give it a try again. When was the last time you used it?
This is the clearest video about Akismet I've seen. I have a similar question as someone already asked below. I put Amazon affiliate links into my blog posts. Would I want to get a paid version? Otherwise, not running ads.
Hi Violinna! Thanks for the question, great channel you got! Already 152 video's in 3 years... well done! Keep it up and you will grow! Well if you look strictly (I am no lawyer, just my opinion), if you earn money with the website, then yes you should get a paid license. If you cannot afford it because there is no (not much) money coming in via the website then I would say that a free license is good. Its more of a ethical question than that you are getting sued or anything. If you using it and they are caching a lot of spam (so it works and makes you happy) and you earn money with the website, then why not. But I won't say a thing if you don't 🤫
@@WPressDoctor thanks so much for a quick response! Yes, I was kind of thinking the same, and so for ethical reasons AND to be safe, have been postponing activating Akismet. But the spam comments (which I review/delete before any of them are public) have been out of control. So maybe it's time to use it. Thank you again.
Hey Matt, Akismet offers checkboxes like I don't have ads on my site, I don't sell products on my site, but in future i will run adds on my site may b selling products then what should i do now? Either i should check the box or to leave it?
Hi Mirza Abuzar, thanks for the question. Just tick the boxes for your situation right now. If it changes, than it changes, if not, just keep it this way!
How do you go about using Askitmet on your clients sites? $600 per year for unlimited sites seems a little over priced to me. Do you pay for the unlimited license yourself, or do you have each client pay for the individual yearly license themselves (assuming these clients are commercial)?
Hi there! Thanks for the question. I usually don’t use Akismet on my client websites, because like you say, it has to be a very high traffic website for that ti be worth it.
@@WPressDoctor Agreed. A lot of my clients don't need comments on their blogs, and for e-commerce I generally use verified purchase settings for product reviews so this blocks spam anyways.
Thanks for pointing me to this video Matt! Can I ask, Do you use Akismet on your website? If you have an affiliate website or a regular website with Google Ads, does that mean you have to Pay for Akismet?
Hi James, you are very welcome, I’m glad I could help you out 👍🏻😀 I only use it on blog sites with a lot of comments coming in. If you use a affiliate website, yeah it would be appropriate to have a paid version. 👍🏻
Hi Matt. What I'm looking for is a way to add a checkbox along the lines of, "By clicking here you agree to this website storing your data as per out privacy policy", and a link to your website's privacy policy. This is for the comments area. I have found a plugin for this but it hasn't been updated for 8 months. Do you know a way this can be done?
@@WPressDoctor Hi Matt. I'm using the WP Comment Policy Checkbox plugin. I'm using WPForms Lite for my contact page. I didn't know you could add a consent form for comments using a contact form plugin. If that's right, I'll have a look. Thanks a lot.

Please can you help me out on how to sort this out 🙏🙏🙏

Yeah it’s possible but depends on the form plugin you are using. I always use Gravity Forms and they have it build in as a separate option.

Hi Victor! Thanks for your question. What seems to be the problem? What do you see in screen?

Ah then it seems that it is blocked by your hosting company, you should ask them first?
@WPressDoctor please how can I do that 🙏
I make use of WordPress and i haven't hosted the site yet
