You can't trust anyone who doesn't like Harlequin Forest 😂
I didn't like the song for a long time even after memorizing their entire discography
@@Celatra I don't trust you!
Vin and Sori, Opeth is not underground for like 15 years or more now :) They deserve more reactions
I'd even say they haven't been "underground" since before Blackwater Park... (2001)
you'd think they'd see all the views /comments on their opeth reactions that they would do more lol
They're Underground in the sense that they have not made it into the mainstream metal scene and probably never will. That being said they have more than enough recognition .
@@Celatra I don't know what your parameters are for "underground" and "mainstream" but just as an example: See if you can't find a band You consider mainstream BELOW Opeth at the poster from last year's Wacken Open Air
images.app.goo.gl/H5WRnspGKPgqJqF5A
@@progperljungman8218 i found around 20 mainstream bands, for example Queensryche, Airbourne, Battle Beast etc
Opeth - Blackwater Park and Opeth - Deliverance still hasn't been occurred! :/
I respect Vin and Sori because they did My Dying Bride, but this is a valid point. Do Opeth justice, Vin and Sori! :)
Indeed! And _Blackwater Park_ *has to be* this Lyric Video: ua-cam.com/video/XV8Kqrd_1T8/v-deo.html
Alas, *Ragnar Lyrics* has not done _Deliverance._ Yet...
I want to see Vin's face with the riffs in Blackwater Park
Because it's their 2 most dragged out and uninspired songs.
This is one of the most powerful album endings in Prog for me, second only to Finally Free by Dream Theater. As someone who is currently living away from my family in a different country with a strong yearning for home but life taking me on its own path, that ending brings me close to tears every time. That is a question that I have to face constantly. The way Opeth structured it into the song is unbelievably deep, unbearable almost. What an ending, one of Opeth’s best along with Harlequin Forest and Deliverance. Beautiful reaction video, wholesome discussion. Vin and Sori at their philosophical best. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Please react to Dignity also
Reading this is like reading my own story, I am in a similar spot but add to this a divorce when that was the person you left your country with, it hits hard, and is actually amazing, my favorite band since 2001 and they never cease to amaze me.
@@TonnyDuarte I totally get it. My relationship too was on the brink when this song came out and seemed like it wouldn't survive. That ending just hit hard to my core.
"Is it worth to turn back home again" is a reference to home being absolute comfort and safty. In the struggle and hardship of life do you give up and hide in your shell or do you keep walking forward knowing eventually the pain and burdens will end. Time is the great burden cause it will end. So continue walking forward to enjoy the moments that will undoubtedly dwindle away
This album was meant to be in Swedish only per Mikael Akerfeldt, but they did English version for the fans as well.
Yeah. "In Cauda Venenum’s lyrics are in Swedish, making this the first Opeth album that Åkerfeldt has written and sung in his native tongue. The band is also releasing an English version with the exact same music [both versions in a double-CD digipak -"Editor's" Note]."
*Mikael:* "It was originally just meant to be a Swedish album; and then, further down the line, I decided to do the English version, too."
*Vin & Sori* - homework: floodmagazine.com/68776/in-conversation-opeths-in-cauda-venenum-is-a-different-kind-of-heaviness/
I mean, the Swedish version is the best and only true version.
@@thadavidrain it isn't though
@@Johnytomm It is though. The English version has grown on me but the Swedish one is superior.
@@thadavidrain At least this song specifically, i think the English version exudes way more emotion, but maybe it's cause i don't speak swedish
Great song...from the modern masters of progressive metal.....”Otef”!!
Beautiful harmonics & enchanting melodies, combined with symphony like song structure, pretty much sums up this band! They can also pass as one of the best metal bands out there...if they choose to do so!
Excellent reaction....Vin & Sori are adapting well to new musical experiences!
Every time I tell someone I’m an Opeth fan, they always respond “yea I love Otep”.
Such a great song 👍👍👍
Nice song! awesome Opeth! Vin and SOri saludos desde México!
Be'lakor- By Moon and Star. It has amazing lyrics and melodies.
We are born with an innate pristine innocence that cannot comprehend this terrible world, presuming a paradise our mortal lives have never known. It is only when the cruel lash of nature tears at us and reinforce our savage instincts that we lose sight of that dream.
But was it merely a dream?
Did you really put Opeth in “The Underground” ? 🙄
Hahaha, my first thought bro.
No shit. A band that packs the roundhouse, the redrocks and royal albert hall should be considered legit.
To some they are underground. Saw them in 11 in San Antonio. Awesome.
Kreator - Enemy of god
Try Anathema, many songs to choose from but as first I'd recommend "A Natural Disaster (A Sort of Homecoming)" live version, a truly excellent song with marvellous vocals.
The fact that many cultures yearn for the transcendent and numinous doesn't mean it exists. That's an ad-pop argument. Humans are pattern seeking mammals. There can be the transcendent without the assumption of a deity. I've been to the Amazon for example. It's absolutely beyond description. Real love is in it's own way transcendent. It's insulting to say that without the promise of a post-mortem reward that people can't find beauty in life.
Warbringer - Remain Violent
Nice reaction guys! Would LOVE to see you react to "Death, come near me" by Draconian. It is time for some Draconian now. You LOVED it last time.
Cheers,
William
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Opeth will pass
Dystopia - hands that mold
You reuploaded this right...or did i dream watching this some days ago? lol
Indeed it _was_ already up, I even added it to my Playlist, then it went 'private' - what happened, Vin & Sori???
I would love to see you guys react to Blasphemous Rumours by Depeche Mode
Will we ever get bury me in smoke by down????????
A great song for sure. 2009 live version is great.
We need some Katatonia!!! Lets get some recommendations up in hurrrr!
Yes more Katatonia
Yessssss
As much as i would like that to happen, they thought Katatonia is a Tool ripp off when they did Leaders so... maybe something from earlier records like For my demons
@@internalfire11 then 'they' have no idea what they're talking about.
I wish i could afford to have you guys you do a Black Metal song from Gehenna. Touched and Left For Dead. I'm pretty sure you would like it. Maybe other followers will agree if they know it. From 95 or 96 i believe. It's relatively slow compared to most Black Metal. Anyway i love what you both are doing so "keep on keeping on" as Dime would say...haha. Best wishes and happiness and good health to both you and yours...
Slaughter to prevail - demolisher
Not yet
Gorgoroth Open the Gates please.
You should react to the new pain of salvation song they recently released
You guys have got to get to The Night and The Silent Water!! I’m going to predict it’s at minimum a 9.5 from Vin, 9.7 from Sori.
I don't think they'll like it . Songs from orchid and morningrise are pretty hard to get into from the first listen
Hazem Ben Abdelhafidh Maybe you’re right. I’ve always thought that song has really great riffs, that don’t take too much to keep up with.
BLACKPINK - HOW YOU LIKE THAT
BLACKPINK - KILL THIS LOVE
BLACKPINK - DDU DU DDU DU
I haven't listen to any new Opeth for years. This shit is ill.
Their newest album is their best since Watershed, it's an absolute masterpiece.
React to Angra - Carolina IV
WORMWOOD - THE ISOLATIONIST
for something different
vin- “and if the kids live with you when their 25, 30 then you failed as a parent” sori- “ahh shit my kid’s in the basement right now” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 peed my pants lol. Here in California we have earthquakes so we don’t have basements so our adult kids live inside converted decked out garages.
Was the previous upload blocked?
I'd like to know that as well.
You got to check out Storm Corrosions Drag Ropes.
they already did it. its on their channel
You're kidding me. How did i miss that. Will check it out, cheers.
@@ProgNationYT Just checked. It Blocked. Fucking copyright!

Please react to David Bowie - Time (Glass Spider Tour 1987)
Lorna Shore - Immortal
How have these guys not done Blackwater Park yet?
A _very_ good question. We need them to watch *this lyric video:* ua-cam.com/video/XV8Kqrd_1T8/v-deo.html
Because they have way better songs?
@@Celatra That's not how it works no. 1 Opeth fan. Reactions would be based on most requested and I see Blackwater Park in every Opeth video comment section.
@@kanglongshankz3313 perhaps but it doesn't represent Opeth's writing quality
@@Celatra Is your favourite album Orchid or Morningrise?
Im waiting for Damage Inc :(
Oteph, is she there? Might as well cut her out after that xD
My personal favourite from that album is: Lovelorn Crime. Great rock ballad.
Why not PARADISE LOST - Eternal
React to red fog by orbit culture
Or Nensha 😁
Did you guys repost this? I swear this came out like a week ago but it says you just uploaded?
Indeed it _was_ already up, I even added it to my Playlist, then it went 'private'...
Please give Pixies another shot with their song Dead. I think there will be more to react to. There Goes My Man is an abstract song about homeless people riding trains. They're just so iconic that they should get another chance. ✌
do Redgum - 'I was only 19' Its an Aussie classic dealing with Vietnam Vets

This one is particularly better in Swedish imo 🇸🇪 but it's ok 👌(also nice live obv. - Fredrik sings!)
Do they even talk about the f*€?~ song?
Yeah
They go back and forth in between the lyrics, interpretations, own experiences and a christian perspective
Thats the format.
New here ?
No they don't...vin just rambles on about self important self indulgent crap....and sori just.....🤔🙄🤪
Reverie Harlequin Forest is one of my favorite songs of Opeth, this one also. But I do agree with Vin, they dragged Harleq. For. on way too long at the end. Opeth is my favorite band of all time, but I do think that sometimes they end songs in what sounds like 'too profound' of a way or 'too repetitive' or 'not powerful enough' compared to the whole song before it'. Next of Kin on this album gives me that same frustration at the end that Harlequin Forest does. Both amazing songs, both way too drawn out at the end. Same with Burden with the untuned guitar. Its art, I get it, but I don't want to listen to your repetitive 'unique artistry' every single time I get to the end of a song that is fucking incredible. Lucky for me, I can just skip to the next track with a button xD, and a lot of the time I will.
Burden's guitar drop works, Harlequin's is just fine, the only song i think they truly dragged out was Deliverance. Most overrated outro of all time for real
I do agree that Åkerfeldt tend to do too many repetitions (not only at the end of songs). Still one of my favourite bands but many a song could really benefit from cutting a couple of minutes worth of repetition...
