The main castle had its roof removed in the 1960s to avoid paying rates and fell into ruin after that. The stables building you explored near the end was occupied until the 1990s by a farmer and his family but it too was eventually abandoned. There have been grand plans to turn it into a golf resort and hotel but nothing has ever materialised, although some work was done around 2007ish to clear the main building of debris to allow it to be surveyed.
Dalquharran castle . In Dailly. Ayrshire. I went here about ten years ago after driving through the village and spotting it sitting up on the hill. It was in much worse condition. Someone has clearly tidied the place up. Awesome place
If you're still editing and you're not paying someone to do it, you're getting really good 👌 music selection and everything on this whole Scottish series is class 💎
Loved every minute of your Scottish tour and you should definitely come back for a sequel. Keith from Midlothian 🏴👍😎 There are a few ruined castles and estates just in the area. One interesting site is castle law hill Fort which is not the biggest place but it's underground and located inside the army training area and can be accessed if the red lights or flags are off or down.
LOL Dragon Soop used to be 8.5% - local Premier shop near me put it out next to the regular energy drinks and got done cus the youngers were getting smashed on it...
Thanks guys, that castle was massive, the architecture and design was impressive. The spiral staircase got me nervous. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next video. Take care.
Amazing place guys. The cinematography. The music choices. The Norton and Al (mice in a maze) sequence..😂. All of it.. 👏 Have a fantastic week ahead, HoE family!
I visited this place about 3 years ago as it’s not too far from where I live. It’s stunning, same architecture that designed Culzean Castle which about 12 miles away and sits on the edge of the cliffs. Hope you see you guys back in Scotland 🏴 soon.
@@JimFixedIt4Me yea, I had a right good hit of nostalgia and it took me back to my youth instantly by reminding me of the hidden mini game on black ops zombies (dead ops) the flare of their torch lights and seeing all the rooms from above like a “map”! Absolutely Brilliant 👍🏼
Before I say anything about the building, I really want to say what bloody phenomenal footage that was of the drone overhead looking down into the roofless castle watching Al and Norton going around with their torches 😮❤ Adding their chat in was just the icing on the cake ❤ Outstanding video, drone footage and editing Lloydy ❤ What a Strange castle. From the front identical lifeless architecture, nothing of the windows to imply the style of stone or wooden window, none of the characteristics around the window, nor evidence of how many panes of glass in any window. Stripped of door ways carvings, design, nothing left. Stripped of its entire character which made it incredibly odd. But also amazing. The spiral staircase that had gone must have been Amazing, the one you went up super creepy with the centre missing, nothing the other side of the doorways in the dark which made me feel queasy despite being cosy at home. I used to be quite good at knowing castles ages, architecture etc but when you said, I still didn't feel that, it's had everything stripped away including age and identity. The older building had the abandoned remains left, wood for door frames, felt at least like it had been occupied. Also I think that was a washing copper as opposed to the not pizza oven. Washing copper sat in the top, fire lit under to heat the water and wash the clothes. Just an Amazing place all round. Definitely would Love to see more of the series when your work and lives allow ❤
This is a cool explore. Think it might have been my first explore I went to but I must say lads you went the long route to get to it. Am sure I heard and read that it was a school in the end of its days. Well keep up the great vids lads and keep on exploring. ✌️
Spiral staircases were used and designed in a way to keep enemies from making their way into the towers. Most swordsman were right handed so they made spiral staircases curve to the right so attackers will have a harder time trying to attack and make their way to the highest point of the castle
Hi guys i live in Ayr and as one of the unfortunate non drivers i have absolutely enjoyed your travels around Scotland especially, i havent been in that castle for yrs its so creepy and i wouldnt be surprised if a spirit whispered something its definitely haunted 👻👻😊 so thanks n stay safe ❤ YES us scottish did build some cracking places 😂😂😂😂
yes boys! I've been to this one, its great. I bumped into a local who was walking his dog through the grounds. lovely guy told me how to get in as the front door was shuttered when I went. he told me a bit of the history I cant remember much bar this being inspired by another castle, and its the second of castles of the same name, the first one is still somewhat standing and much older (I luckily stumbled across it before coming to this big one) he said that they ripped the roof off in the 70s? not sure, something to do with squatters and then not having to pay tax on it or something. he also told me how up until around 7 years ago (at least 8 by now) the main spiral staircase was still standing and useable until a tree growing at the top dislodged a large stone and fell with it. the tree was still there at the bottom when I went but it had died, you guys did miss a couple gems, and that "lift shaft" you found was correct, it was one of the 2 dumb waiters that I found, there may have been more. but if you went through all the basement you would've found the large pulley gears from the top of that shaft that had fallen down.
Such a fantastic building. Sadly, listed buildings doesn't mean anything these days. The top down view looks like a game topdown minimap, or crystal maze map location. What drone do they use?
Me n my dude been watching your channel a while now... An we always laugh at loydys pronunciation of certain words... One of your vids he says "it's got a mote" like it's a disgustingly bad grotesque thing 🤣🤣... So our catchphrase has been "it's got a mote".... Sooo pleased he said it in today's video😂😂😂😂... This is an amazing series!! You've got to do more parts soon PLEASE‼️‼️
You could have went to Sawney Bean's cave (The Hills Have Eyes movie was based on him)
Amazing place guys. The cinematography. The music choices. The Norton and Al (mice in a maze) sequence..😂. All of it.. 👏 Have a fantastic week ahead, HoE family!
Have absolutely loved your Scotland tour thankyou
Good explore. The drone footage looking down reminded me of the map view you get playing Doom.
Hey Mark.....absolutely loving your music choices lately ❤❤❤
great as always, the drone shot + music was a work of art.🏅
Love this series. This is the only way I would be able to see these ruins. Thanks!
Great series. Went here with kids last summer.

Well that was a superb ending to your Scottish adventure boys 👌🏼 Well done 👏 see you next week 👍🏼

It's the drone
This was good! That castle was amazing but to big to upkeep such a shame

That place is amazing. Love the music choices in this vid.
Love to know more about this place and what happened to the people.
Drone shots - love
having a spiral staircase lead up from the bottom of your moat is probably the least defensive thing you could have in a castle
I just love your humor! You guys make my day *lol* Keep up the great work and the wild advetures 🤩😎
Wow awesome place thanks guys ❤ really funny 😂
This is Awesome!!!!! 👍
Great video guys!!🥰❤️❤️❤️
Late to the party again... great vid guys.. those stair cases were awesome...

Dunno if I would make it to the top! My trembling legs would do me in for sure! 😵💫
An epic end to the road trip!

Hi guys we done 3 paranormal investigations there at dalquaran and got some good evidence fantastic building good video guys Peter pdu team
The thing that looked like a lift shaft was probably a dumb waiter. Posh people like food available on any floor of their mansions or castles.
Will the beanies be returning to Upthehoe? I missed out and they looked sick!
Dragon soop used to be 8% but with the new can design came a new percentage of alcohol, keeping it classy in both aspects

4:04 That spiral staircase reminds me of the legend of zelda twilight princess lol...
