- Recently those who receive cash aid and food benefits have been victims of electronic theft. The Kern County Department of Human Services says they have seen an increase in reports where the money is stolen from EBT accounts.
Happened to me today it hurt me so bad. I feel for her I cried like a baby. That's food for my baby.

@@lonnieac3 thank you. I had to contact everyone from the police department, HRA, FBI, and my local Congressman because HRA isn't helping at all. Audacity to give us a what is skimming letter said they can't help us.

Me to Mann just happened today me and my girl are stressed now we’re a young couple trying our best to provide for our kids we work hard for them now over 1,000 dollars stolen .

Here's what I did to stop it from happening again. Right before my benefits are deposited at midnight, I just cancel my card. The next morning I go to the dpss office and get a new one and get my benefits.
...but there a limited amount of times u can do this?

@@lonnieac3 yess there is. I'm at a limit. I'm not gonna keep going down to the office for a new card. Anyway by that time they'll swipe the card once I get it. What states need to do is get a chip. They got me $340 I know it's a Mom and Pop store.

@@lonnieac3 this is my thought exactly nothing else makes more sense than this. I’ve thought over and over about possible ways and this is what I come to every single time. It must be someone on the inside stealing all this food stamps.
I was just told today it takes 60-90 days to get the benefits back and there is no other way or relief to get anything right away this leaves me and my children with nothing being a single mom cancer patient this ebt incident is another burden to carry. 😢
Time to go back to paper food stamps. Or add a chip to the card.

2/1/2023 at 7.57 they 650 dollars from bk of the west in Santa Ana, the only thing I can think of is when I do online groceries at Walmart maybe that's how they got my info.

After this happened to me i just started changing my pin every time i use the atm i change it right after.
They can’t take the money out with the wrong pin so keep changing it right after you use it.

mine got stolen the same day I got them this month. even after discovering someone hacked into it and used it at 2 markets that are states away, I filed a police report but doss didn't care + they refused to refund my stolen $ and my new card still hasn't come in thru the mail.

Happened to me few days ago !!! What do I do ? I have a warrant and am scared to report it to police I need to be out here for my son it's just me and him these people stole all my cash aid and half my snap when I realized it..please someone let me know what to do I have rent o pay and my son to feed.
Talk about living off the system!!! You're a felon AND applying for benefits. Do the right thing for your son and give him a better life!!!
I'm so sorry! It happened to yesterday . Well ,, in your case, call num on back of food stamp card & report fraud..they will cancel card & send u a new one. Best wishes

If you call the number on the back of the card to report the fraud, you might not have to make a police report. What happened btw? Did they replace your losses?

Happened to me yesterday 12/05/2022 and now can’t go food shopping for Christmas
It's F'ed up that the states do nothing about it. I don't get food stamps but am supposed to get Pebt and now feel like what's the point if it will just possibly be stolen, unless I spend it all at once. It's a one time payment thing but to spend it all at once wasn't something I was planning.

Mines was taken in Sacramento too the transaction info says it happened at a Wells Fargo bank at 2261 Del Paso Rd Sacramento CA US on 11/05/022, the same day it was deposited. They took $220. This is the second time this happened to me. The first time it happened the money was withdrawn AT THE SAME EXACT TIME IT WAS DEPOSITED AT EXACTLY 12:00 AM. I’ve never been to Sacramento in my life. The second time this happened to me it happened at a Bank of America on Olympic, which is a street in Los Angeles CA, and I’ve never been to a Bank of America on Olympic in my life!!! This is absolutely infuriating!!!

@@lonnieac3 No you don't. Social services gave me the paperwork, then I called dispatch and she gave me a report number to put in. Then I scanned it and emailed it back to social services.

@@lonnieac3 Trust me, nobody was in the know. The health and human services kinda knew, but the police report was confusing. I live near the PD so I went down and the gentleman at the desk told me I had to find out all the info about where the crime was committed. So. I ended up calling the dispatch line from the same PD and the lady knew what to do and how to take my report. I emailed the form last week, but I have not been contacted and haven't gotten my money back yet.
