I used to sail into Livorno on container ships often during the 1990s. What was left of the Moby Prince was tied up at the next dock for years. The Longshoremen used to say that you could hear the ghosts of the passenger and crew moaning signing, but I think it was just the wind blowing through the empty windows from which the glass was missing. On one voyage we had a cadet on board who, upon seeing the wreck of the Moby Prince, remarked, "That's a funny color to paint a ship". We explained to him that the ship hadn't been painted brown, that was merely the result after the ship had been burned. We heard that only one person on the Moby Prince survived, and that he committed suicide some time later.

Somehow you completely skipped what had actually happened in 2:05 . Ship leaving port is directly followed by „as the collision occurred…“. Which collision? How did it occur? Viewers have to guess and collect pieces of information from your detailed description of the aftermath. This makes it a bit hard to watch, to be honest.
I see what you mean; I didn't realize I made that mistake. I understand it's a little hard to watch. However, I kindly ask for your forgiveness for this mistake. Rest assured, it won't happen again. I hope you'll continue enjoying my content.

I have been comparing this disaster with that of the Andrea Doria which was T-boned by the Stockholm on the 25th of July 1956. You are correct to state that the "Moby Prince" was the worst maritime accident since WWII if the death count is the only criterion. 103 did not survive on the Doria, while 140 died on the ferry. What also makes it worse is that only one crew member survived on the Prince while just under 95% of the 1,766 passengers and crew on the Doria were rescued. Furthermore the deaths by fire, suffocation and carbon monoxide inhalation must have been a terrifying way to go for the unfortunate travellers on the Prince. However, in terms which underwriters might undertand, the Doria was by far the greater mishap. Here was a nearly new luxury liner of 44,500 tons, 241 metres in length - she entered service in 1953 - against a twenty-six year old ferry of only 6,682 tons, which had seen better days as the "Koningin Juliana" on the Hook of Holland - Harwich route. Both tragedies with loss of life, but the Doria by far the more memorable event.

@@OldShippinglines Thank you! But it would have been better for me to give correct information. I cannot remember now which site gave the unreliable figures. Anyway, according to Wikipaedia, the Andrea Doria was 29,083 gross tonnage, not 44,500, and was 214 metres long, not 241. The other figures given are pretty much correct.

I sailed from Hoek van Holland to Harwich aboard the Koningin Juliana in 1980. I wish I had paid more attention to the ship and taken pictures, but I was a teenager who didn't really care at the time. I remember it was night sailing and it was so rough that I was thrown from my bunk. I bought my mother a souvenir spoon of the ship which I have.
The ship also featured in the opening credits of series 1 of British TV series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

Indeed, there is a small portion regarding the collision with the oil tanker Agip Abruzzo. Missing I didn’t realize until it was too late what mistake I had made. No, on 'Estonia' the front end as liberated by the rough sea. He meant 'Herald of free Enterprice' which left harbour knowingly with open door to safe some time and wanted to close it at going. But too late.

It’s understandable that you would, after all English speakers also use “Florence” instead of “Firenze” and “Rome” instead of “Roma”. But for some reason I haven’t heard anyone use the word “Leghorn” for “Livorno”, and for instance in Google Maps English version, it’s marked as Livorno not Leghorn.
Where the hell did you get the word LEGHORN from ? Unless of course the dialogue is just moronic AI which can’t handle Livorno as a word… this begs to ask what else in this rubbish video is a misinterpretation of the facts.

To address your first claim, “Port Leghorn” is an English translation of “Port Livorno.” Regarding your second claim, I have spent days researching and compiling information, and I created a script based on this research. I can honestly say that I have done all the research I could on this topic. I am terribly sorry that you did not like the video and I ask for your forgiveness.
