Fighter, Broadway headliner, philosopher - Philosopher, Broadway Mike Tyson has defied stereotypes, expectations, and a lot of conventional wisdom during his three decades in the public eye. Bullied as a boy in the toughest, poorest neighborhood in Brooklyn, Tyson grew up to become one of the most ferocious boxers of all time-and the youngest heavyweight champion ever. But his brilliance in the ring was often compromised by reckless behavior. Yet-even after hitting rock bottom-the man who once admitted being addicted to everything fought his way back, achieving triumphant success as an actor and newfound happiness and stability as a father and husband.
Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the heavyweight titles at 20 years old. Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, 12 of them in the first round. ESPN calls Tyson the number one hardest hitter in heavyweight history. Tyson declared bankruptcy in 2003, despite having received over $30 million for several of his fights and $300 million during his career. Tyson was well known for his ferocious and intimidating boxing style.
