    good vid, and good timing! I just started looking on the 'tube for some wood-burning videos. must be the cool, fall air that's making me kind of be excited to fire up the stove.

    Team work. I like it. You may have heard of this before but if you burn potato peelings in your stove it will cut down on creosote build up. But still do the sweeping in the fall.

      Never heard of the potato ditty Steve, do you know why it works?

      It's an old timey thing my Granpa told my Dad an he told me. When I was young we used peelings in my parents stove and it seamed to work. My theory is the potato starch must do somethig to either coat the pipe or do something to the creosote or maybe both.

    I'm sure other have said it already......incorrect brush for stove pipe. Plastic (poly) ones are correct for metal stove pipes. Nice vid.

      Does it matter though? I can't see poly ones on sale here in Japan.

      @@tonylarge5298 Thank you. The availability of brushes is not so great, or the shipping fees rather larger, here in Japan where not so many people use wood-burning stoves.

    Greetings brother..is it overkill to clean a 40 ft stove pipe from the ground....using my drain pipe cleaner (auger/snake) . I own 2 drain cleaners and they both have auto feed...I can easily attach a chimney cleaning brush onto the end of the snake.

    One tip dryer vets are also a big deal and need to be cleaned out. You can use the same tools if your willing to push the bush hard. I use a drill to help clean the pipes good. Your was bad glad you guys did that. Stay worm and God Bless.

    Burning dry wood makes less creosote. Also hotter fires in the stove will help to remove it as well.

    Good video. A few years ago we had a chimney fire because "Mr. Pumpkin" didn't listen to me. (like usual) So, this year I told him if he doesn't clean it....I'm getting a "hot" looking man to do it. :)

    The best thing to do is to buy a gas fireplace or a gas stove and you’ll never have to clean a chimney again plus a propane gas fireplace 🔥 is better for the environment cause it’s clean burning 😊 thank you folks !!

    • @kyleburchart1576
      @kyleburchart1576 2 роки тому +2

      Yes untile propane prices reach outrageous prices. Or is unavailable to get seeing how the way out country goes. I'll keep my wood fireplace as emergency backup plan since I have all the fuel I need on my property

      propane is now $3.75 in my area of Calif. As bad as the economy is now these asshats want to ban woodburning.

      It's not self sufficient and the recession is going to put a stop to that real quick. Europeans are trying to burn wood to heat their homes this winter as they hav extreme gas shortages now that the pipeline from Russia blew up. They can't afford there 1k a month energy bills.

      The environment will be better if people burn wood because they won’t have to drive to work as much paying for the gas to for the car and to operate the gas stove
      The environment is just fine
