How to Blow a Flower with Acrylic Fluid Paint

- Check out this video on how to blow a flower with acrylic fluid paint. Inspired by Mely D, I decided to try this painting technique on my own. I now understand how difficult it is to keep the flower centered. You also need to control your blows - ha, ha - yes, I just said "control your blows"...weird. What I mean is that sometimes you blow harder than other times, you can see where I blew too hard at times throughout the video.
Tip: Take breaks to breathe so you don't pass out!
The more I play with blow painting and using a hair dryer, the more I'm thinking about purchasing an air brush. I wonder if the air brush would offer more control. Let me know if you ever experimented with the air brush to blow on acrylic paint and tell me how it worked out for you.
As always, please let me know what you think of this video! I always love to hear from you so comment below and tell me what you think OR what else you'd like to see. Maybe you have an experiment you would like me to try?!
Keep calm and paint on!
Shout out to bensound.com for the tunes!
The flower blowing technique would make a lovely poinsettia for Christmas!
Although the finished painting is lovely...I have to say the most beautiful was the initial white and green blow - that
'wispy' 'mistake' gave a really neat effect. I really loved it the best.
Love what you did there. So beautiful. You rock !!
Hi, Im still learning and find it really hard to blow a perfect flower, but realised that leaving a bit of space between petals help to give more definition. Thank you for sharing your not perfect work and your trials as it help us beginners so much !
I liked it best at about 5:10! Fun technique!
I also really liked your painting at the earlier stages. I might have stopped after the first edition of the purple color. It was more
like a delicate flower.
This is an awesome technique that can be used in a million ways making art. I see flowers, feathers and birds; all right there!
Just recently became addicted to binge watching flow painting videos. I have never done anything like this before, but am dying to try it. The one thing I appreciate the most about this video is that you were willing to share an experiment that didn't turn out the way you wanted it to. I probably learned more from you than many of the amazing artists I've watched who's experiments always seem to turn out perfect. I subscribed to this channel and can't wait to watch more of your videos. It was also educational to see the helpful suggestions from other artists, but sad to see some who were less than encouraging or inspiring. I sometimes think people can learn as much, if not more, from things less perfect. Thank you for sharing!
It's so so beautiful! Thanks for sharing
I love this technique! Thank you for sharing!
Oh wow, I love it. See many ways I can use this technique TFS
Thank you for showing your process. It may not be what you planned, it is lovely.
Absolutely amazing, so beautiful. ..
Gorgeous! Love the result.
Fun and very cute.
Thanks for showing us.
Many years ago, in my college art class, we had to use a straw and blow a scene with India Ink.
I did underwater. Fun
Clear varnish makes it shine really well and pearlescent or metallic paints add extra shine to.It's great 👍 and Thank YOU for sharing to its so hard trying to get all the paints to the right consistency as not too thin and not too thick.Phew it's a lot to learn.🤗
I am in love with your technique, thank you for sharing
I’ve tried this very form after watching MelyD. She is a master of blowing the paint. I feel you did a great version. I ran out of steam myself and tried using the compressed air. That turned to be a disaster! I had paint everywhere but on the canvas. I gave up but after watching you do it, I might try it again. I think your flower was beautiful. Keep sharing your world of color.
Looks like a massive ghost party, I WANTY NOW!😄 far out!
You really did a fantastic job well done!
Awesome pour ... Fascinating watching the colours do their thing!
Awesome! Every painting is a learning stepping stone. I'm excited to try it too. Thank you 😊
Absolutely love all your work, Meisha!
fist time i have seen a colour layering for a flower flow, really works well
I simply love it
I think the first was what everybody likes but the ending of this flower it's my favourite !!!
I'll have to try this one too
I watched another artist (Expressionist Art Studio) use tubing to blow out of. It was so smart! Flexible and to whatever length you want. I bought some last night for a few cents at Lowe's. I can't wait to try it!
Absolutely love that technique. It is beautiful.
I love the overlapping petal look. Try using rubber tubing instead of a straw. It will give you better control overlapping and shaping the petals. Also not blowing too hard is key. It spreads out the petals, blending the colors more evenly.
Great job! Thank you for showing us how.
Love your experimentation and I do remember MelyD doing this. Nice close up shots and the effects are great, well done 👍
Great when you can experiment with paint and it turns out as beautiful as that. I am thinking about giving it a try. Thank you for the demo.
Love it!!
Combination of colors are very pretty. I needed the technique. Thank you for the lesson.
I think if you had left some negative space the petals might be more defined.
This is a cool video Jeff is a really really cool videos
Invest in a lazy Susan . Try it again . Negative space is good...
I must admit I agree
So glad I got to see this being created, I loved seeing this process and I really enjoyed the colour and image.
You definitely have good lungs. 40 plus years of smoking didn’t leave me with the best of lungs. I like to watch you work. I would be passed out after the first petal. I tried your technique and got as good a results as I could expect. Now I’ll back the tape up and watch you create. Thanks.
Who did you mention in the beginning? I couldnt understand her name! Mills D or something? Cool painting.
I am just now starting fluid painting and I always find faces in everything. Mainly clouds that I photograph, but your painting came out with about 15 faces I could count on your close up. Absolutely stunning. I really enjoyed it.
As my daughter is always telling me “less is more” especially with this!
This is far more interesting than just throwing paint. It was a good thing to watch for those of us who want to try pouring paint. And I'm such a hard critic I've been admonished by youtube for my honesty. I dont give a crap what youtube tubesteak eaters say. I'll say whatever I want to. This was good schooling for us amateur pourers!!! I loved it!!! It was #EXCELLENTART
It’s pretty I like it
I love the results! Beautiful piece!
I like the idea, it brought back child hood memories, it was something I enjoyed doing very much. There is an overkill of paint, you can refine the paint when blowing, all you do is slit the straw at the bottom, push one side in and tape so you have a smaller hole to work with.
Exactly Michelle! I remember my mom trying to teach me how to paint a tree with water color and a straw...back then I didn't have the patience but it surely reminded me of that time.

Absolutely gorgeous. I've got to try this
Thanks you for sharing your beautiful work!
How to tame my need to praise the work that the brilliant Artists of today are showing! This is SOOOO beautiful, too! Wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing, dear Meisha!
Very cool. Nice work. I have some ideas for flowers. Will be so cool. I use a straw a bunch as well so should work out.
I love your blowing method I will try it. Lovely flowers you made.
For the 'flower' I think maybe you could have stopped at 8:20. After that I think it was lost....HOWEVER, you turned out a terrific piece of work! Good job. This is not meant to be a backhanded compliment! lol Really, a good job!

So true
I agree should have stopped then but very neat
Can’t wait to try this! Tfs🌹
So pretty!
I've tried one. Let me just say I got a headache just watching you.
Thank you for sharing your talent it is always a help.
Very pretty like how the centre came together
I love this, it’s a real stylised flower. The color combination is very pretty, makes me want to have a go! Ann in cold Uk xx
Did you try it Ann?
Very cool, like others, I saw stylized feathers and not flowers. Also, I would take advantage of natural ridges that form and highlight them with gold foil. I am so inspired that I plan to try this technique using watercolor on my channel. I’m always looking for ways to make edges that are uniquely defined. Layering the watercolor will be fantastic, I think. Super excited! Thanks so much for sharing!
Love the technique.....thanks for sharing.....
Thanks for a very creative pour. You have such good control on pouring!!👩🏼🎨🌸
OMG... Wow...that center section is amazing ...looks like it is floating....3D..... Beautiful!!! Thanks so much.
I also watched that video of MelyD's flower painting when she did it, and I've been wanting to do it ever since, and just haven't. I agree with you! She is awesome! Sorry, I'm posting this comment before I even watched your video! Lol I'm sure it will be fantastic!
Thanks for sharing this! It's different from ALL the other flower pours I see on You Tube. I'll definitely try this with fewer colors. Yours is pretty.😇🌈💙💚
Beautiful colors. We learn from each one!
This is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!!
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
I've seen lots and lots of blowouts! But , Never have I see anyone do it like this! Amazing. Kind of WOW, so far! I can't wait to see the end! And you seem so calm❣️
I think many times during the process she created beauty. The end product was delicate, detailed art.
I think it's a beautiful painting..I can't wait to try it out myself!
Lindo trabalho.Amei as cores que você escolheu!!!Super like!!!
The middle part is cool! It looks like the stone Labradorite, which is one of my favorite gems! The reason I love doing art is that you have a slight sense of control and get to use your creativity, while at the same time getting to witness what the medium itself chooses to do with your creation. So it's more like a team effort, rather than a solo venture. I've started out with an idea of exactly what I wanted to do, and then halfway through realized that my painting, drawing, whatever, wanted to be a spider or a leaf instead. I love the end result! Great video. :)
I learned a lot from this! Love the doggie toenail taps! Cute😊
Meisha, parabéns, sou fã do seu trabalho e fico feliz em vê-los. Nota 10!
Love this. Have to try. 👍🏻
It turned out beautifully, just stunning!
I adore the colors! I'd hang this up, no problem! I also saw feathers!
Beautiful, love that, so pretty! I think it would look great on the wall with maybe two little ones similar colors just tad brighter. Thanks for sharing 😊
I find this very inspiring! Rarely do my paintings EVER turn out as I expect so I've learned to accept what I didn't expect! ha ha! Thanks for this video and the fun! I hope your pup has gone out by now :) Thanks from NC, USA.
I love this! Gonna try it with the ten year old twin granddaughters this weekend. I think it will make great Christmas gifts!
Your painting kinda looks 'tie-dyed'! Cool! I love your color choices. I'm going to try the 'blowing thru a straw' technique. I was thinking about starting with different shades of green then applying the flower colors on top the green. Thank you for showing us this technique.
Fascinating! Helpful explanation up-front, helpful tips. I was skeptical about the colors being set out, but once you poured and began blowing---that first round looked like it was going to be a hibiscus! Really loving that layer. Subsequent layers I enjoyed learning from your techniques (both the good ones, and the over-blows too! Vicariiously learning both through you. Very helpful, actually. I enjoyed the relaxing musical background--it added calmness to the process (even though I was sitting on edge of chair peering into screen to anticipate what was next). Really wasn't sure where it was all going, but glad I came along for the ride! Nice project, and contrast added at the last round. It could make a great contribution to a grouping of similar/different ones clustered on a wall! Maybe a progression of colors and techniques. Thanks for sharing!!
I love the way this turned out.
thats BEAUTIFUL! love the middle, even tho when you were pouring it, i thought you were going to ruin it! 🙄 if you ever get an airbrush, will black has some REALLY GOOD vids w/using his. might check it out, if you havent seen him yet. good job!!
I checked out Will Black, thank you for the recommendation. So many tools I want to buy! My list keeps growing :)
Meisha Untamed you & me both!! 🙄
Gayla Roof I liked the same
Gayla Roof will black
That is so cool. Love it.
I kept thinking you were over working it! But the results are gorgeous.!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Rose!
I think this it absolutely lovely!! So soft and pretty and I love the layering.
Excellent I'd say. Gorgeous
Every time I see these types of videos I just want to star a painting!!!
This is inspiring!!
Thaks for sharing!💚💚
Just found your channel. I just love this!! I'm in the middle of some other pours, think I'll try this before the night is done. Thank you!!
I really love this one.
Love it!!!!! Beautiful!!!
Absolutely beautiful
OMG!! I would have passed out blowing all that paint around...LOL! LOVE your results, and the whiny doggie!😊❤
Thank you! I love my whiny doggie too!
Interesting idea! I'll try to put in practice
I love it. Beautiful colors, wonderful job
Fabulous technique that anyone can do! Thanks for being so clever! Love it, beautiful
You are very welcome.
When I started painting they told me it wasn't the paint (cuz I could only afford the cheapest there was )it was the artist I noticed what you said about your white and thought I passed that on
Also I believe you master this technique.
Very beautiful!! Congratulations
Gyonyoru ,csodalatos az emberi lelemenyesseg ,en is festek de ezek nagy meglepetest okoztak.BRAVO!!!Judit
I love it. Very eclectic and colors were perfect together
Wow!!! It's beautiful !!!
Perfect! Great breathing exercise, if done one everyday! You are very natural and lovely.
OMG, it's one flower covering another, which is covering anther, which is yet covering another... The first one was gorgeous - sometimes more is not better. Remember: Negative space is your friend; it's what gives a painting depth and encourages that emotional feeling within us...
Girl, I just love it. You have inspired me. I can't wait to try. I want to try also a big feather with different size straws. God Bless
You are right, but I thought with this it worked
Yeh I was screaming at the screen for her to stop at one point coz it was perfect but she kept piling it on. It still looks beautiful tho.
