How to Blow a Flower with Acrylic Fluid Paint

  • Check out this video on how to blow a flower with acrylic fluid paint. Inspired by Mely D, I decided to try this painting technique on my own. I now understand how difficult it is to keep the flower centered. You also need to control your blows - ha, ha - yes, I just said "control your blows"...weird. What I mean is that sometimes you blow harder than other times, you can see where I blew too hard at times throughout the video.
Tip: Take breaks to breathe so you don't pass out!
The more I play with blow painting and using a hair dryer, the more I'm thinking about purchasing an air brush. I wonder if the air brush would offer more control. Let me know if you ever experimented with the air brush to blow on acrylic paint and tell me how it worked out for you.
As always, please let me know what you think of this video! I always love to hear from you so comment below and tell me what you think OR what else you'd like to see. Maybe you have an experiment you would like me to try?!
    Keep calm and paint on!
Shout out to bensound.com for the tunes!

The flower blowing technique would make a lovely poinsettia for Christmas!

Although the finished painting is lovely...I have to say the most beautiful was the initial white and green blow - that
'wispy' 'mistake' gave a really neat effect. I really loved it the best.

Hi, Im still learning and find it really hard to blow a perfect flower, but realised that leaving a bit of space between petals help to give more definition. Thank you for sharing your not perfect work and your trials as it help us beginners so much !

I also really liked your painting at the earlier stages. I might have stopped after the first edition of the purple color. It was more
    like a delicate flower.

Just recently became addicted to binge watching flow painting videos. I have never done anything like this before, but am dying to try it. The one thing I appreciate the most about this video is that you were willing to share an experiment that didn't turn out the way you wanted it to. I probably learned more from you than many of the amazing artists I've watched who's experiments always seem to turn out perfect. I subscribed to this channel and can't wait to watch more of your videos. It was also educational to see the helpful suggestions from other artists, but sad to see some who were less than encouraging or inspiring. I sometimes think people can learn as much, if not more, from things less perfect. Thank you for sharing!

Many years ago, in my college art class, we had to use a straw and blow a scene with India Ink.
    I did underwater. Fun

Clear varnish makes it shine really well and pearlescent or metallic paints add extra shine to.It's great 👍 and Thank YOU for sharing to its so hard trying to get all the paints to the right consistency as not too thin and not too thick.Phew it's a lot to learn.🤗

I’ve tried this very form after watching MelyD. She is a master of blowing the paint. I feel you did a great version. I ran out of steam myself and tried using the compressed air. That turned to be a disaster! I had paint everywhere but on the canvas. I gave up but after watching you do it, I might try it again. I think your flower was beautiful. Keep sharing your world of color.

I love the overlapping petal look. Try using rubber tubing instead of a straw. It will give you better control overlapping and shaping the petals. Also not blowing too hard is key. It spreads out the petals, blending the colors more evenly.

This is far more interesting than just throwing paint. It was a good thing to watch for those of us who want to try pouring paint. And I'm such a hard critic I've been admonished by youtube for my honesty. I dont give a crap what youtube tubesteak eaters say. I'll say whatever I want to. This was good schooling for us amateur pourers!!! I loved it!!! It was #EXCELLENTART

I like the idea, it brought back child hood memories, it was something I enjoyed doing very much. There is an overkill of paint, you can refine the paint when blowing, all you do is slit the straw at the bottom, push one side in and tape so you have a smaller hole to work with.

Very cool, like others, I saw stylized feathers and not flowers. Also, I would take advantage of natural ridges that form and highlight them with gold foil. I am so inspired that I plan to try this technique using watercolor on my channel. I’m always looking for ways to make edges that are uniquely defined. Layering the watercolor will be fantastic, I think. Super excited! Thanks so much for sharing!

The middle part is cool! It looks like the stone Labradorite, which is one of my favorite gems! The reason I love doing art is that you have a slight sense of control and get to use your creativity, while at the same time getting to witness what the medium itself chooses to do with your creation. So it's more like a team effort, rather than a solo venture. I've started out with an idea of exactly what I wanted to do, and then halfway through realized that my painting, drawing, whatever, wanted to be a spider or a leaf instead. I love the end result! Great video. :)

Fascinating! Helpful explanation up-front, helpful tips. I was skeptical about the colors being set out, but once you poured and began blowing---that first round looked like it was going to be a hibiscus! Really loving that layer. Subsequent layers I enjoyed learning from your techniques (both the good ones, and the over-blows too! Vicariiously learning both through you. Very helpful, actually. I enjoyed the relaxing musical background--it added calmness to the process (even though I was sitting on edge of chair peering into screen to anticipate what was next). Really wasn't sure where it was all going, but glad I came along for the ride! Nice project, and contrast added at the last round. It could make a great contribution to a grouping of similar/different ones clustered on a wall! Maybe a progression of colors and techniques. Thanks for sharing!!
