Agreed. One of the people I immortalize and try to mimic! Jimmy, Del, Tony, and Larry are all equally weighted to me in contribution with Bill being at the top. I think about them all often.
There's the best bluegrass singer and entertainer I ever seen in my life. He was and always will be my favorite in bluegrass. I see why he carried the title of being the king of bluegrass. R.I.P JIMMY
I went to my great uncle Jimmy Martins house growing up and I remember Ol Pete. He had a lot of dogs . He made me cry laughing everytime I saw Jimmy. He was the BEST !!!!!!

Wish I could have seen him.saw him 3 times in Ohio.he had been gone for years before I knew it.Jimmy didn't get the recognition I at least think he deserved.
Friend of mine is a session player in Nashville. He said Jimmy was hard on bass players. He told my friend "I don't want any fancy stuff, just play the damn bass". So my friend just stayed on very simple root - 5. Jimmy stops the song, "What the hell I tell ya!?".
Jimmy Martin was one of the best bluegrass players and singers I've ever heard.let me hear from ya. Ok?

This is back when they still had a good sound man[PA] at Bean Blossom.
He was one of my one of my favorite bluegrass pickers
One of Martin's last performances. It's really good and with Vassar and Emerson on there it's super good.

I love Jimmy Martin, but wish that in his live shows he had talked less and played more.
