  • if Grimes only had of been using a Denon DJ SC6000. Pioneer DJ needs to step it up. Now the introduction of streaming music we need the ability fix the BPM when the player mistakenly counts as double time. #newfirmware

Im assuming all the phibes tracks you had were dnb so whats with the ones at 130 bpm etc? Gonna guess its the analysis getting it wrong?... but this is why a dj learns to beatmatch, people who use sync i refer to as a 'tune selector' but not as in the slang for dj they litterally are just a selector of songs (unless they also have someone else put their set list together then id call them an ornament or something 😂 surely youd have to be desperate to feed your ego to be on that level, its like getting a flight somewhere as a passenger and telling people your the pilot. i never understood the mentality behind it 😅)

I.think she wasn't sober. The only feature that might have saved her set would have been a pre recorded set. But I bet by contrast her next set will be much better. And if they live stream the set it will be the most watched set of the weekend with all the people watching, hoping to see a train wreck.

If there is a feature available or not... everyone is responsible for their music library. Let's be honest: She was unprepared for this set.

it would also be nice if DJs who get paid 100k+ would learn how to beat match and not rely on sync features

Agreed beat matching by ear is the real art of DJing no software needed, overall I would say Grimes got caught out in the art of being a real DJ. Good video by the way.

Agreed. The analogues strike back. There's a place for everyone in the scene but button pushing and sync has been found out here. Sorry but vinyl DJ's are simply better equipped skillwise to deal with scenarios like this. Its an age thing maybe but i'd rather listen to and watch vinyl djs. Yes there no loops and fx but its more engaging..

Nice feature! If the track is incorrectly showing at half speed does the Denon also allow it to be doubled?

I didn't know she was a dj. The only time I ever heard of her is because of Elon.

That's a nice feature on the Denons alright. Kind of amazing Pioneer don't have the same thing.
Have to be honest though - I completely disagree about the BPM ting with DnB or Jungle. Whenever the analysis says something like 88.5 it got it wrong. It should have calculated 177 because that IS the BPM of the track.
Still - it doesn't bother me at all. Makes no difference to my DJing. I'm just glad the analysis can figure out breakbeats now - because many years ago it couldn't.

For many quantized effects it actually works out better to have the lower BPM and also if you start mixing Hip Hop acapellas it works so easier as well.

Yes bro - for sure I get the effects thing. And the mash ups. I just don't have need for effects or hip hop acapellas.
I'm really old skool. 2 channels, bass mid high is all I need. I use the filter knob but even that feels like an extra to me 😂
Don't get me wrong - I've done all those James Hype transitions etc. just for the fun of it. I just don't have any need for it when I'm DJing - it doesn't fit in or add anything into my sets 😂hope you know what I mean. Not trying to belittle anything. I'm just a simple DJ. Tune selection and balanced sound pressure is key for me.
