Correction: The Nikon Z mount retail version hav electronic contacts and auto aperture, just like the Sony E mount version. This is different to the early sample I used for this review which was completely mechanical. www.venuslens.net/product/laowa-15mm-f-5-cookie-ff/ref/11/
How's this lens compare to Voigtlander 15z, Brighton Star 9mm and Laowa 10mm Zeo-D as everyday documentary lens? What silver Z lens with electric contact manual lens would you recommend to use in Nikon Zf?
@@NetvoTV the 9mm and 10mm lenses are much wider, crazy wide that I don’t think is suitable for everyday documentary. The voigtlander would be a lot closer but I haven’t got any experience with it
@TheRealRichardWong i see, by the way Richard, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, would you love to have a logo for your channel to have a branding that you can overlay on your work and also print on merchs for your fans to buy too? Let me know if you interested and I would love to design it for you! :-)
The L mount version does not have electronic contacts, the Sony E mount version have electronic contacts ! Does the Nikon version have electronic contacts ?
Believe it or not, I did this review back in Nov 2023. The sample I received back then didn't have electronic contacts. But I just checked Laowa's website, the final version for Nikon Z does have eletronic contacts and auto aperture control as well.
@@TheRealRichardWong I can see at Laowa´s website that the Canon RF, mount an the M mount have have manual aperture ring, Sony and Nikon does not, I would like to have it aperture ring as well as electronic contacts for Sony !
Great video Richard! I love Laowa lenses, but need autofocus! Haha I’m looking for an ultra wide angle prime lens with autofocus for Z mount. Any that you can recommend? Preferably a more budget friendly option. I know the Viltrox 20mm f2.8 isn’t ultra wide, but would that be my only option?
@@TheRealRichardWong That's what I figured, maybe from now until the end of the year, a budget ultra wide for Z mount might magically appear! haha.. Appreciate the response!
these tiny lenses have much more vinietting than the big front element lrnses, and I do not know how to correct this, so it is a tough trade off for me.

Very thorough and balanced review. Thanks. I’ve been looking for an ultra-wide for travel. This might fit the bill.
Thanks for watching!

Really can't think of any ultra wide, autofocus Z lens that is affordable. Viltrox 20mm is the closest but it's not really ultra wide

Might be a hard sell for the RF mount with the Canon 16 2.8 also being quite small and priced even lower.
Interesting! I haven't tried the Canon 16 2.8 RF myself, I'll see if i have a chance to try that out.

Nice video!
Thank you Andrei!
I welcome any and all REAL lenses for the lumix S9.
darn, no 4/3 :D
haha but Laowa already made a few very compact micro four thirds lenses that is smaller than this :)
