One more thing about dog training that I wanted to share. Use commands you'll naturally say in an emergency. I don't say "stay". I say "wait". Here's why: one day, we waited to cross a busy street and she went to cross right into a car. (maybe I shifted weight, idk). I yelled "WAIT!" Luckily the car missed her as she got back on the curb. After that I always use "wait" instead of stay. In that situation I would have never had thought to say "stay". 💖🌞🌵😷
Tyler, I appreciate your commentary on how to change out the chutes. It is not an easy task, but it is not an insurmountable task either. The need for a reliable chute is real, and timing of the changeout can make that changeout easier or more difficult. Finally, there are always possibilities of the unforeseen event happening. I wish you good luck on this task. May it all go well for you.
Good to see the new chute is on site. New equipment is always a process to install especially when it comes into a well established operation. This upgrade is really long overdue and will make your life and your herds greatly improved and more streamlined. I think the issue of safety when Mrs. FTR and the kids come to help will now be a non issue. A welcome win for all! Good post Tyler!
You have this FTR. Very happy for you. You deserve that new Shute. Thanks for fixing that water leak. Hope you didn’t get as much rain as we did today.
You did good with Belly, the stay whist leaving her sight was impressive. Just keep extending the length of the time she stays. The other things to work on (you probably do) is calling her from a long distance. I use a verbal command as well as a hand signal. I could call my Honey from 1000 feet with no problem (mainly because she was anxious and couldn't wait to get back to me). Then it's fun to work on having her stop and wait somewhere in the middle of that long distance. (Helpful if a car is coming and she needs to wait for traffic to clear.) She's young and easily distracted so don't get discouraged, these are important, especially working around equipment. The other thing I thought of was to be able to put her in a long down from a distance. Say she walking up to a danger and doesn't know it. Being able to have her drop and stay until you get there could keep her from a rattlesnake or a bear trap. 💖🌞🌵😷
One thing you can use the new chute like it is if needed while tearing down the old one. Just use some panels to walk a cow in. Tom pemberton farm life has what you have now and he uses it like it is by adding panels as a race for the cow (He has attachable wheels on his). But As long as it's a flat area it doesn't have to be tied or staked down . Just an idea. Love your channel and the way you are with all the animals and how you do all the projects by explaining what you are doing and why.
I appreciate your articulation of your thought process when troubleshooting issues. I think the Arrowquip is going to make handling the cattle a lot safer- a very important consideration especially when working on your own.
What we have a lot of here is squeeze chutes with 3 point set ups. And having a chute to take to the winter pasture for emergencies wouldn't be a bad idea.
It is a wonderful chute. I've seen it on another channel and it is amazing. Yes, it's going to be a lot of work, but just think. You'll have a rotten post replaced and a rounded corner that will make life easier. I believe I'd sell the old chute which someone likely really needs. I look forward to your new project.
You will love your new Arrowquip chute. Good purchase that you are going to use a lot. Now you can put your old chute at the winter pasture to treat the odd cow there.
Oh my! I am tired just listening to you. Talk about the hard work you have ahead of you moving that concrete etc. I do think your new shoot is very impressive and I’m very happy for you to have it. Also, I appreciate how you laid everything out, so we knew just exactly what was gonna happen when. Last but not least good job on getting your “plumbing” fixed … I don’t know very many people who actually enjoy doing that job. Besides if something can go wrong, it will. Love your channel Tyler.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you sweetie for a great lesson (for the non-farmers) in the potential complexity in some projects! Looking forward to all the fussing this will take to resolve!
As always keeping it real, FTR. underwater plumbing is painful but I picked up a few tips. Thanks. Congratulations on the new chute, too. I like the idea of using the loading alley for emergencies. Smart thinking, every time.
So much going on and lots of work ahead of you, but ultimately that new shoot will be so nice. Is there anything you can’t do? Ugh! All that mud and water!
Hi FT! It’s always good to get new equipment! Also, great job for the abilities of your tractor and a great relief! Lots to think about, but sounds like you have it all covered. An extra chute is always a good thing! You got this Tyler, great job! Good girl Bellie! God’s blessings!❤❤❤❤
FTR, you should be able to get the chute through the gate if it’s only a couple of feet longer. Come in at an angle and do a little zig zag past the post. You might have to offset it on the tractor a little. Sometimes it goes easier backing up. Just get one end around the post first and wiggle around until you get it. I just got a 12’ workbench through a 10’ garage door. Used to take 20’ steel through a 14’ shop door all the time. It just takes a little thinking 👍🏼
Good Afternoon, Tyler, Callie and Belly! The New Squeeze Shut! That was an easy lift and carry for the Trailer! I love you talk us through the process! Broken Pipe! I enjoy watching you train Belly! Great Video! Thank-you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Seeing the PE pipe repair brought back memories helping my grandfathers yard system. He built their house in the late 50’s early 60’s and Polyethylene pipe was the newest and best solution to plumb in the yard and always had issues just like that. That’s one of the reasons why so many people shy away from that and just went to PVC sch 40 after that for their yards in this part of the country. The best way I have seen the neighbors move their cattle squeeze back when this was all cattle was just use a big 2 wheel style implement / tool carrier.
and to think that someone dumped that dog, their lose,😞 was a real win for you and your family Great dog..... looking forward to watching her grow on your channel.....🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠 btim south west pa
That was a great "art" shot, with the sun setting behind the cow standing on the dike! Also your interactions with Callie and Belli were priceless. Have ye ever considered a career in UA-cam laddie?
Congratulations on the new shute ! Looks just like the one that Sunne farms has except not hydraulic. They run hundreds of cattle through it. I’ll be looking forward to watching you install the new shute!
We just got our Arrowquip chute in. We e got the chute, alley and tub all in one assembly in the 74 series. Done a short on it but gonna do a full video later.
Another great episode. A simple question - since going full-time, have you ever once thought, "If only I had a second chute"? Let the answer inform your decision.
I am so pleased you think through your approach and look at limitations that need to be overcome. So many tear into a task like this like a bull in a china shop. Time spent in reconnaissance is never wasted!
Thinking about needing to remove that concrete and not knowing all of your circumstances , you could possibly use the forks on your loader and pry it up
When you do a job Tyler, you do it good and proper. You work out the pros and cons and end up with a secure and successful job accomplished. A great big 👍👍👍💕 Bellie, shes a good girl. Gorgeous too ❤❤❤
The new chute looks impressive, and I wish you well with the installation process. I wonder whether you are planning to build a shelter shed or roof over it? It seems to me that an expensive piece of equipment, such as this, deserves protection from the weather, and also that it may be of great benefit to have shelter if animals need inspection or treatment during inclement conditions. I find myself agreeing with Evan from "Country View Acres" with regard to having the chute in a sheltered position.
In my younger years, I developed a tendonitis on my left wrist from trying to push the barb fittings for sprinkler systems. My solution was to keep a pail of water simmering on a Coleman stove. I pushed pipe into the warm water and voila, the inserts went in so much easier. 👍🏻
I’m surprised you don’t have foundation issues with all that water around the foundation. Good job with Belle. I’m a shepherd person and they are the absolute best dogs.
Lots of work ahead. Best to do the fence since it needs to be replaced anyway. Eventually you’ll have the whole fence replaced. Okay, I’ve got to say one thing. I wondered why you had parked the trailer so far away from the corral, especially since the chute is so heavy. But that’s all I wondered about, the rest was well thought out. Wow! I agree with you that chute will take about a month in total, depending on the weather and concert demolition and set-up. Especially because of doing it all yourself, and needing the space. Question if you’ll need to little corral but you also need to demolish the fence and move equipment around in the little corral is there a different corral that you could use in the meantime for the cows and babies. I wish you the best, and look forward to your videos about all of this.
Great Work Tyler, just to think U do All of this on ur Own. What a Trooper u r. Love watching Bella and Callie, just so Smart, and Bella is Catching on really well. Cannot wait until the new Arrowuipt is installed, u Just Keep it Pushing?
16:13 I like the idea of putting the old shoot at the end of the loading alley. But if the cow doesn't want to back out... Consider positioning their trailer so when they exit the the shoot, they go right into their trailer. (Maybe borrow a single-horse trailer if yours is too long). 💖🌞🌵😷
The whole time you worked on the water leak, I'm thinking: 1. Watch out for sharks! 🦈🦈🦈🦈! 2. At least you have the right boots! ( Sorry, but I'm a city girl that loves shoes!) Have a great day! 💖🌞🌵😷
I'm sure you are going to be very happy with the new chute. I like that you can get to the animal from either side of it. Takes a bit of getting used to. ❤️🙏To you and the family.
Because of the way he has to drive in to put it in place. There's only room to drive it in one way and, if he picked it up from the other side, it would be facing backwards when he set it down.
Great video. The almond trees are beautiful in bloom. All the green is beautiful too. Thanks for sharing what you must do to get everything ready. Could you use trailer to move chute in and fix the fence opening later?
My uncle bought an arrowwuip with all the hydraulic fanciness. He said it’s his early retirement present to himself. He doesn’t retire for 12 more years lolol
Ok I like your plan but can you maybe put the chute in after calving season??thanks I like watching you and understanding how you plan things before you do.
There's an argument for making the old shoot portable. You could even rent it out. But there's probably stuff you could fix instead (like replacing corral fencing) with the money you got from selling it. (But maybe your UA-cam money will allow you to do both? IDK. 💖🌞🌵😷
Speaking of gas lines!!! I was in the propane business for 37 years and I always assured my customers that if something were to happen that it would only blow them up only ONE time 😁😁🤣🤣
I worked with an old hand made wooden chute with a wooden head gate for years (just a few cattle and not always fun 😲) and added a metal head gate when I expanded (a little better, but still not workable alone🙁). YOU now have what you NEED since you work alone. IMHO ask yourself have you ever needed a head gate elsewhere and if so make the old one portable. If not, sell that to someone who probably really could use it and take your wife on a date night a few times with the cash received. 😜
Hi FTR you have the most beautiful content cows their marking on them are sptacular I love all animals but cows have the most beautiful eyes our cows up here in Canada have furry thick coats right now do to the winter which has been mild this year so far it’s not over yet take care
It would be simple enough to turn through the gate. Come at it sideways and turn in to the opening putting one end through first. Save some labor and time. But if you need to do the post anyway it's 50-50 as to what's better.

You can tell Callie enjoyed giving sneaky licks when FTR didn’t expect them - she looked proud of herself

I see Tyler beaming, loves his new toy (i.e. squeeze chute).
Beautiful green grass for them to graze. Thank you for sharing.🐂
You have this FTR. Very happy for you. You deserve that new Shute. Thanks for fixing that water leak. Hope you didn’t get as much rain as we did today.

With all that planning, its measure twice, cut once!! Great sense of humor. Dogs are both looking so good as are the cows. Good on ya FTR
Great shot of the setting sun behind the cow on the hill. Looking forward to watching the adaptations for your new chute. ❤

That is the best thing he can have to work cattle with. It's a one person squeeze chute. I have a portable one, and I love it!!
Tyler, The wife and I love the videos especially love seeing Callie she is the spitting image of our Maggie who we lost a few years ago.
You will love your new Arrowquip chute. Good purchase that you are going to use a lot.
Now you can put your old chute at the winter pasture to treat the odd cow there.
Thanks!
Thank you so much Elizabeth!

💃💃Doing my Happy Dance for FTR! Man, that Arro equip looks good!
How lucky can you get home all day and working best of 2 worlds
Thank you sweetie for a great lesson (for the non-farmers) in the potential complexity in some projects! Looking forward to all the fussing this will take to resolve!
YOu constantly amaze me with YOUR talents
Tyler, you’re a good Smart young man. God’s blessings on ya. 100% confident what you figure out will be right!❤🎉 congrats on the new chute!!!
Hi Tyler and family buy the look on your face you are some happy that you got a new squeeze chute I’m happy for you congratulations ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Good investment. 😀 Most farmer/rancher UA-camrs that I see have one.
Thinking about needing to remove that concrete and not knowing all of your circumstances , you could possibly use the forks on your loader and pry it up
Get a yellow handle nut driver. It will fit almost all hose clamps.
Thx for sharing

THAT IS AWESOME THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
I think that there should be a skid loader in your future. 😁

Wow Tyler, those roots from those oak trees will Under your house and break your pipes
Wow. A lot of new stuff to do. Lots of great new content. Yay
If you can't find a spot for that old chute, it would look good in Richmond Indiana 😉
In my younger years, I developed a tendonitis on my left wrist from trying to push the barb fittings for sprinkler systems. My solution was to keep a pail of water simmering on a Coleman stove. I pushed pipe into the warm water and voila, the inserts went in so much easier. 👍🏻

Keep the old shoot, don't get in a hurry to get rid of it...portable corral might be perfect idea.
Wish I lived closer to Shasta.... I'd buy mine from Chad! Hoping to get my Arrowquip soon
Is there a reason that you didn't just approach the squeeze chute from the other side?
Because it wouldn't make a video ! He makes problems where problems don't exist !
Because of the way he has to drive in to put it in place. There's only room to drive it in one way and, if he picked it up from the other side, it would be facing backwards when he set it down.
@@rogerr1296 Except that this was an intermediate step to get it off the trailer and not it's final working location.
Roger is exactly correct!
@@farmertylerranch4399 fair enough!
Yep!!!😊
The new chute looks great I know u will enjoy it when u get it set up and will be safer for u and the cattle.

May could use the old shoot at winter pasture
Could you not put the slab flush with grade and have only a 3 inch step. Keep up the great videos bud.
Normally I like hearing about the labor pains... but in this case I just want to see the baby😊
At least your plumbing issue wasn't in 30 degree weather ours seem to always happen. But you're right plumbing is the last thing I want to do.
Tyler pick it up from the back !!!!!!!!
Fab yay!!!!😊
It would be simple enough to turn through the gate. Come at it sideways and turn in to the opening putting one end through first. Save some labor and time. But if you need to do the post anyway it's 50-50 as to what's better.
You need to put asking gate by your barn to direct you cows in to dicractions
You are going to be busy.
Sell the old chute or not? remember all the saved for a rainy day items you have discovered and you wondered why your grandfather kept them?
But, a moveable chute at the steer or winter pastures could be useful. How often would have one been convenient in the past?
Fit it right first time the way you need it and sell the old one so you can stop over thinking it and get on with life.
U can take it to the winter pasture and fix it up there
How are the bulls? Haven't seen much of them lately.
U can take it to the winter pastor use it there when you need it
