Bhaktapur known locally as Khwopa in Nepal Bhasa, is a city in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal located about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) from the capital city, Kathmandu. Along with Kathmandu and Lalitpur, Bhaktapur is one of the three main cities of the Kathmandu Valley and is a major Newar settlement of the country. The city is also known for its Newar tradition, cuisine and artisans.
Nyātāpola (from Nepal Bhasa: something with five storey') is a five tiered temple located in the central part of Bhaktapur, Nepal. It is the tallest monument within the city and is also the tallest temple of Nepal. The Nyatapola is noted for its unique architecture as it is one of only two five storey temples in the Kathmandu Valley.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a former royal palace complex located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. It housed the Malla kings of Nepal from 14th to 15th century and the kings of the Kingdom of Bhaktapur from 15th to late 18th century until the kingdom was conquered in 1769.
Siddhapokhari is one of the busiest ponds of Bhaktapur. Siddhapokhari is also called ‘Ta Pukhu’ which literally means the bigger pond. The term 'Ta' and 'Pukhu' are the Nepal Bhasa words which mean big and pond respectively.
Juju Dhau is the most famous and delicious variety of yogurt. Juju dhau is known for its rich taste and thick consistency. Juju dhau literally translates to "king of yogurt" in Nepal Bhasa. It is a specialty of the town of Bhaktapur.
