Hey K, I did the same. Stage III Uterine 4 years ago. That big "C" can't stop this African mane. I have learned so much on how to care for my hair from these videos. Stay Blessed.🙏🏽
Nope, I use a wide comb too I hardly use a brush but I'm thinking of adding a brush too my issue is which is better for my hair without pulling a bunch of it out.
I like the pink one that look like it's got five 10 brushes the one that comes apart and you can easily clean that's the one I like and I'm really thinking about trying to get it and I'm hoping Sally's beauty supply has it here in Grand rapids
@@arlenemcelwee5297 based on her reviews, I think this is ideal for me too.. my hair is not curly and not much. It looks like something that's cheap and could work for me
If you couldn't tell already...The pink brush is my fav!!!! It makes detangling my hair something I don't mind doing. I used to dread detangling before!
I purchased a brush from the local beauty supply store in NYC, that is a cross between the pink, and Felicia Leatherwood brush. It's looks like the Leatherwood, with a smaller handle, and flexibility. Unfortunately , the package didn't have a name. 5 years, and it's still strong.
I’m a fan of the Felicia Leatherwood brush. Took a couple of attempts to adapt to the handle - but no issues with it now and it works great! (And as an added plus- the business is owned by a black woman)
@T Rae I have long thick, high density 4a/4b hair. The Felicia leatherwood just rips my hair out no matter how I use it, vertical or horizontal. It's too sturdy. I have to thoroughly detangle my hair first in order for me to use it. It smoothes my hair but I have other brushes that are way gentler on my hair (i.e michel mercier brush, tangle teezer)
I wish they had the “Ez detangler” (the pink one) when I was growing up. I’m a mix of Hispanic and Jamaican and I inherited my father’s curls. My mom (the Hispanic one) had no clue how to brush my hair. I have baby pics that no one will ever see. 😂 The pink brush works wonders for my hair texture which is a 4b. I will not use any other from now on unless I accidentally leave mine home. ☺️
I agree with the denman brush ripping out your hair. I thought I was using it incorrectly. I would be willing to try the Amazon brush. Thanks for sharing
works well. actually i use it with out the little piece (i lost it oops) and it still works very well for me. and i have very curly very tangled all the time and it actually is super good
Lmao i had the same issue with it, then I modified it (took out 3 or 4 rows) and although it's a little better, i barely use it for detangling, i got myself a china version off of Wish of the pink one and Denman will be left for "defining" (if there's such a thing for my 4c fluff) my curls.
Lauren Manyweather Ik I’m late but u don’t have to throw away the denman!😂 the denman brush is mainly for defining ur curls especially when u tryna do a wash n go every now and then.
Learned from another sis on You Tube... hold it vertically to detangle , then horizontally for curl definition 🤷🏾♀️ helped me tremendously... until I invest in a new one of these ...hope that helps someone with the denman 👸🏾✊🏿
The EZ brush aka the pink one works great for my 4C hair. It really detangles and it doesn't take long for me to get through my hair, which is saying something because my hair is THICC!
@@teeeee9174 i purchased both. I’d say they feel a little different the name brand feels sturdy and has some weight to it . Also I think the grip in the back stays . The cheap one you can tell. It’s lighter
Love the video! Also I wouldn't recommend the Denman brush for detangling. Its mainly used on already wet and detangled hair to evenly distribute product in the hair and give more curl definition.
just wanted to say thank you for all the videos you make. ive learned alot about my hair by taking your advice over the years and for the first time in my life i finally have waist length HEALTHY hair
They make these small rake looking tools for removing hair from your brush and then I use the cheap stiff pick brush used for coloring hair with soap and water to remove any remaining crud and build up.
Thank you for telling the truth about the denman brush. I used to go to a natural hair salon that used it and so much hair came out. I switched to the EZ detangler and I love it! I have very dense, fine hair that varies from 3c to 4c. I like it best when it doesn't have the clip in the back, but that's just me.
I'm so glad you mentioned that the Denman brush rips your hair out. That's what I noticed last week, when I used the Denman brush for the very first time. So I used it carefully... I think I like the black and the pink brush the most 🙂
The red thick and curly tangle teezer is all I need for my hair. It’s pretty much the only one that will detangle my hair easily. The Denman brush won’t even move in my hair, even if it’s drenched and with lots of slipage. If my hair is already detangled, the denman brush literally poofs my hair out, not defines curls like for others, for some reason.
I love the detangling brush you recommended, but I would say that before you write off the denman, I would give the all black larger 9 row version a try. I don't have near as much hair as you and I quit using that little red and black one years ago. I would also try it modified with every other row taken out leaving the middle and outer rows. The denman is still not the easiest to clean, but detangles my hair like a dream after pulling apart the major knots with my hands and conditoner.
I’ve tried the brush from Amazon and was not a fan. I had a denman brush not my favorite. I tried the Felicia leatherwood brush and Bae Bae!!!!!! This was the one for me. It was easy to use and I could feel how smooth my hair was getting. Everyone is different. Use what works for you.
Baking soda in warm water ... Add dirty brushes and or combs. Use comb to clean between the brush bristles preventing bristles from poking under fingernails. Thank you for this video. I have the brush minus the guard piece as well.
Thanks for sharing. My fav is the Denman brush. I removed every other row of plastic bristles (3 total) leaving the outward rows in place. It made a MAJOR difference in detangling and unnecessary hair shed. The handle is sturdy but not too rigid.
The rubber pad of the Pattern Beauty brush slides out so you can deep clean it. You can actually take it apart so its extremely easy to clean 😊 no poking or stabbing💖. I love these kinds of brushes because you can take the rows of bristles out and get picky about what level of "detangling intensity" you prefer. Thus caters to multiple hair textures or preferences. Which is why I think it's so costly. Thank you so much for all your research and information! Very helpful because you help me and many others save time and money. Really appreciate you! 💗💕💖
Yaaass!! I'm beginning to realize that's an uncommon hair brush feature that I would rather never live without. I just about never can clean brushes any other way. When the entire brush base and bristles can be scrubbed with a sacrificial toothbrush and shampoo - I only have to wait for it to dry to use a clean brush. If a $20 version of a brush I've regularly used for at least 5 years exists, I may purchase once for the long term so I don't have to fret over having another thing that's difficult to maintain. It's really nice. ❣️
I have a brush really similar to the amazon one and it detangles my 3b/3c curls like a dream and it truly is easy to clean due to the separation of the bristles! 🙌🏽
I’ve purchased the pink or peach one and it’s called the EZ Detangler, I’ve seen it on Facebook and and I love it. My hair doesn’t get tangled up in it . I also use it for my grandson he has that fine hair and the brush slide right through his hair without it getting tangled.
I bought the Pattern one, and after two months it broke, and I only used it once a week and in the shower, like it says it is for, but it still broke … I just bought the Rizos Curls one to see how it does. For reference I have 3 b/c hair.
If you remove 2 rows from the denman brush it makes it super easy to detangle and also to clean it!!!! I actually use the FLEXI BRUSH to detangle. But on my last wash n go I used the denman brush to define and detangle, and since I removed 2 rows...now its so easy.
After just purchasing the pink Amazon detangling brush just prior to watching this video, I am so glad to see it stacked high against its competitors🥰. I’ve used Denman in the past and it was so-so but honestly fell more in love with my Paul Mitchell 427 ♥️
I have 3 of the 4 brushes. The Denman was always a favorite. I've used that for years. When I purchased the Felicia Leatherwood brush, I didn't like it at first, but now that is my favorite. It gets more flexible over time. I never had a problem with the handle. I purchased a second one because I kept misplacing the first, and it has been redesigned. The handle is not as wide, and edges are smoother on it, so you may find it more comfortable to hold now. I actually prefer the original, though. The amazon brush is ok, but I lose more hair with it. The handle also came apart on one of mine. Both the Denman and the Pattern brush are designed to slide out the handle for cleaning. I never clean mine that way though. I don't have the pattern brush, a few reviews said it broke while using, so I was debating whether or not to buy it.
@Legend of Awe Sheeet !!! I'm not sure if this was meant for me or the channel, but since you replied to my comment I'll answer. It depends on your length and how you wear it. By short do you mean less than an inch, or 2-5 inches? Of the brushes posted in the video that I have tried I'd go with the denman, but you may want to just use a natural bristle brush on your hair if it's an inch or less.
Using it vertically is such a waste of time because you're using a more minimal surface area to brush.😒 And it STILL rips my fine hair out simply because the bristles are way too stiff. Hate the denman brush, it's awful.😫🙄😐😝
would love to see you try the wet brush!! It has been a vital component to my length retention through the years. The bristles are flexible and it also defines my curls as well!! Just make sure you get the newer version that has a grip on it , the older versions have no comfort grip and might make your hands cramp. Also a tip for uncomfortable grips is to wrap old hair ties or headband around it. Thanks for this vid!! lots of love!!
First of all, your hair is so pretty. Now I'm ashamed I let my hair get out of health the way I did. I found this video because I randomly purchased an Amazon brush. Denman... I removed every other row. Never used all bristles except on my black Denman that I used when my hair is stretched or straight. Slide the base out remove the combs to clean thoroughly. Fav detangle tool was a tangle teaser but it flies out my hand all the time.
I appreciate this review! I'm going to stick with my denman.🙂 My experience with it is the complete opposite to yours. And I've had the same brush for atleast 3 years.
To clean the denman brush you can remove the entire pad the bristles are in. Push from the bottom and slide it up, you and open it and even remove the bristles.
That Felicia Leatherwood brush made me mad too. My hair wasn’t happy. My hand wasn’t happy. It was really frustrating! I’m heading to amazon toute suite!
I bought the dupe of the denman brush for 2euros on shein italia, and it's super! On shein there are all the dupes of the most famous brushes of the world with street prices, and they work so well Ciao from Italy🙋🏻♀️🇮🇹
Ebony, I use the ends of RatTail comb(metal ends is better) to pick out hair from detangling brushes. I keep hair color brushes to brush out dirt at the base with dish soap.
I use the Deman brush as my main detangling brush. I never thought of getting another brush. I may try the Amazon brush now since watching your video. Thanks a lot and take care!
Yea I have it in blue bc My mom got the two pack (the pink one went to my sister) I like it a lot! I’m pretty sure the reason u don’t use the clip is so it doesn’t snag on your hair? I’m sorta confused about that lol
Thank you for advising not to detangle your hair in the shower because I’ve been having a lot of hair everywhere in the shower and it’s just a pain to clean up!
I have two children and myself. Naturally curly hair shoulder length to lower back length. We all have and love Denman... 2 of us have 2 different types; a style and a detangle. My son has only a detangle. Wild about our Denmans.
I own the Denman and the Amazon EZ Detangler. The EZ Detangler wins, works very well for super and thick coily 4c hair, reduces tension, time and effort of detangling. Also works equally well for relaxed hair. It's been lifesaver for me and my daughter with "real", thick and coily African hair❤
Subscribed! Thanks for this video. I came across it, and appreciate the way you organized the comparisons. It’s helpful that you mentioned relative cost, and showed the product names, pros and cons on the screen. Drives me nuts that’s so many UA-camrs don’t do that. Decent editing shows that you respect my time. I definitely want to check out more of your content. Tip: Clean brushes by combing them, or lifting the mat of hair out using the tail of a rat tail comb.PS, I am so mad at how lovely your curls are! The nurture shows.
I just checked for the Amazon brush and the price changed to $17 but it's still cheap and for how it works it seems like it's worth it! Nice review love your hair!!
The "fingernail prick" you experienced with the Pattern brush is what I experienced with the Denman. (HATE THAT). I've owned 2 of the Denman brush you have and both deteriorated at the rubber based, quickly! Pieces were left in a few places so I refused to buy it again. After that, I bought the Detangling brush & I love it.
Wow! I am definitely going to order the Amazon. I'm curious and your demonstration had me sold! I agree about the denman brush. Honestly, I hardly use mine. Sometimes I think it's just a must have for any natural lol! I also ordered the tangle teezer. Wish me luck! Thanks for the informative video!
I use the denman brush in the shower and it’s just not meant for detangling. My denman has lasted at least 2 years. Rat tail is how you clean your brushes! your hair is way thicker and longer than my hair so I can see why the pink brush does you justice
I used to love my glide thru brush but that amazon detangling brush changed my life😍 that freakin denman brush is the WORSE brush ever it pulls plenty of my hair out
Great video! I have the Denman brush and the Pattern Beauty brush. I have never used the Denman on my hair but I love the Pattern Beauty brush. The Pattern Beauty brush defined my curls well. My hair is defined & elongated.
I use the tail of a “rat tailed” comb to clean the hair outta my brushes

I MUST USE A WIDE TOOTH COMB FIRST!!! As for cleaning any type of brush, you can use the teeth of a comb or a rat tail comb to clean your brushes 👍🏽👍🏽
YES I LOVE USING LIGHT PINK BRUSH
Thanks for the REAL info about the Denman brush!
I would love to know how I can grow my natural hair this long. Your hair is gorgeous ✨✨✨
Thanks a lot and take care!
omg your twist and braids give me so much life hair goals
You hair is gorgeous. You were a great help in me making the right purchase.
Pink
Gurll. When you took down your hair I was like.. just 😳 *woah*
The pink brush on Amazon is called the EZ brush. I have several and it’s Black owned!
The amazon brush is my favorite but why am I just learning what that clip was for lmfao
yes, very cheap I produce it
omg i said the same thing lol about the clip
Yea I have it in blue bc My mom got the two pack (the pink one went to my sister) I like it a lot! I’m pretty sure the reason u don’t use the clip is so it doesn’t snag on your hair? I’m sorta confused about that lol
Omg y'all same I got purple btw
Your hair is gorgeous!
As a guy dude I have been doing everything WRONG !!! Thank you very much
Thank you for advising not to detangle your hair in the shower because I’ve been having a lot of hair everywhere in the shower and it’s just a pain to clean up!
I love my Felicia brush to detangle and denman brush to pop my curls more!
The Amazon brush for sure! Regardless of the little piece across that comes off. It awesomely detangles!
There is Denman Hairbrush Cleaning Brush I bought on Amazon that can cleans most detangling brushes. Great tool, highly recommend.
This video was very helpful. Just purchased the Amazon brushes and can't wait to try it. Thanks
I just checked for the Amazon brush and the price changed to $17 but it's still cheap and for how it works it seems like it's worth it! Nice review love your hair!!
we can do it as 2$
The "fingernail prick" you experienced with the Pattern brush is what I experienced with the Denman. (HATE THAT). I've owned 2 of the Denman brush you have and both deteriorated at the rubber based, quickly! Pieces were left in a few places so I refused to buy it again. After that, I bought the Detangling brush & I love it.
I use the amazon detangling brush and the denman. I like the both. Great video
I loved this video, I use my denman brush to detangle sometimes. Last year I removed every other row of teeth and it’s made a huge difference!
Thanks for watching!
Keyra Vaughn I use a denman brush also . I took out some rows in my brush and it works fine to detangle my hair.
ksaunders52kl yes It makes a difference
Great video. I just recently bought the Easy Detangling that looks like the first pink brush you used.
Thank you and good luck!
I use the denman brush in the shower and it’s just not meant for detangling. My denman has lasted at least 2 years. Rat tail is how you clean your brushes! your hair is way thicker and longer than my hair so I can see why the pink brush does you justice
I used to love my glide thru brush but that amazon detangling brush changed my life😍 that freakin denman brush is the WORSE brush ever it pulls plenty of my hair out
I have the Pattern brush and I really like it. I like the durability and how it can stand up on its own in my shower.
When that hair dropped I fell in love
Ty! Ordered the Amazon detangler. Gonna give it a try based on your commentary.
Great video! I have the Denman brush and the Pattern Beauty brush. I have never used the Denman on my hair but I love the Pattern Beauty brush. The Pattern Beauty brush defined my curls well. My hair is defined & elongated.
Love the words in the intro! Hair care confidence, love that!
My Ouidad detangling comb is so much bigger than all those. They just don’t seem made for detangling. I only use my denman for styling.
