I had to grab a Julio SP rookie card. No Ragrets! I’m a big believer. I also love Spencer Strider. His stuff is filthy! If he can stretch out and pitch that way for 5-7 innings he’s going to be great.
@@daltongorham6768 sure. I understand the value can definitely go down after the release hype is over. I could lose a good amount of value by buying early. But what if he wins rookie of the year or just continues to have a great rookie season’s and the price shoots up even higher? It’s a gamble. I’d rather buy it now for my collection at a price I can afford.
Completely agree with this!! JRod is the truth, he’s been playing outstanding in the BIGS, as a rookie to lead all of majors in steals is extremely talented, kids a stud !!
Great list! I love the amount of research you do and the fact that you have a formula for a ranking system that you created for your list!! I watched a guy the other day do a top 5 list and he admitted that he had no idea how the 4th and 5th ranked guys on his list were doing so far this season. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into your work!! I’m going to start kinda chasing J-Rod and BWJ, but Yepez is my main rookie chase!
I got a SP Julio Rodriquez today and I know he's a good rookie but had no clue how valuable the card is until I looked it up after watching your video.
Good take Scottie! I’m targeting Bobby Witt #1. Julio #2. They both continue to get better. I like Witts raw power s little bit more than Julio. Julio is a hell of a defensive centerfielder. He’ll win multiple gold gloves. But Witt will hit 30-50 HRS every year from age 24-34. Count on that!
Just glad I bought plenty of Julio Rodriguez Bowman and sealed 19 Bowman wax. That year could be so big with others besides Wander coming up through the minors.
he's a great player but starting in the MLB at 27 yrs old isnt good for his HOF chances. If he does he might be the only player in history to do so. If he remains as dominant maybe he will, Ill def hold onto his card if I pull it but for the price of his cards so far might not be worth 2 bills for me
I think that could be smart. Maybe even in the end of the regular season could be a good time for these since they most likely won’t make the playoffs.
not that rare talked to a guy got 2 in a jumbo, its not a acuna bat down short print first week of release ebay was flooded with them kinda dissappointing but its shorter then normal which is great I think itll still maintain value around $200-$300 when the dust settles
@@mickey-eq5vw I just picked up one of the Julio autos which I'm super excited about. I got a good deal on it, at least for what's available now, but very curious if these cards will hold their value.
@@mickey-eq5vw I hope I get one (or both!?!) Of Julio and Witt in my hobby box. I dont want them to be so rare that they're a case hit. I won't buy a single on ebay yet though bc the early market prices may drop as more hit the market.
@@Mattymatty2000 wow beautiful card!! its a good investment other then some umpire issues early in the season its amazing how good he adjusted to mlb pitching and how good he is doing already, I picked up a his auto 2 years ago no regrets plan on sitting on his cards for a long time
I would say Julio Rodriguez number one I agree I bought a box of tops series 2 baseball and pulled over Julio Rodriguez and I put it on eBay to sell sold for a lot of money so people like him
Thanks for the analysis but I will wait for the season to play out and for all products to be released before picking who I will be "investing" my time and energy into. Until then, anything will be luck from opening boxes here and there.
Question is in the future will the SP or the update be the more popular card? Harpers multiple Topps rookies are about the same in price. There isn't one way above the other. History says the update becomes the iconic card of these three.
I don’t know, man. It might be an isolated example but Acuna’s series 2 short print rookie (bat down) is an image variation short print just like Witt, Julio, and Torkelson in this years set. Acuna’s series 2 SP rookie is worth way more than his base Update rookie. I think only time will tell. I have FOMO for sure though.
So interesting thing about Bryce Harper is that his true flagship rookie (661A) was a series 2 SSP. A base PSA 9 sold for close to 2k on auction last week. Only 400-500 total are graded between PSA, SGC, and BGS. The other variants of the 661 card (I believe three exist) are only complete set versions and not pack pulled. His true flagship SP is much much more desirable than these variants and the update. It’s such a rare card not many people know about it.
Julio is the real deal, without question. As far as Torkelson, the only reason he’s in the bigs is because he’s a Tiger. He’d be AA at best anywhere else. I always hope for the best, but I personally wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t pan out.
Kwan is intriguing, but Peña is someone I'm excited about. I was hoping he would make S2 but I'm actually glad now that he didn't because Update looks like it will now be a good product as well. I probably won't buy any Update, but I will start saving for a couple boxes of Update Sapphire (assuming they'll produce it). I bought 2 boxes of Update Sapphire this year and loved it. I got some nice color out of it, including the Jazz Chisolm RC auto /25 in orange. I'll buy 2022 Update Sapphire with THIS rookie class for sure!
The jrod n witt topps series 2 1987 auto our beautiful cards!! The witt with the grey border and the jrod wit the blue 🔥🔥🔥 That would be an incredible pull!
Great vid.....The giddiness and speculation of the last decade is over..... get your want lists ready for the next decade.... every RC in high grade that you covet..... we will be able to buy them much much lower in the next several years.... high interest rates are entering and easy money is exiting. We are really going to see and feel the over production when the selling starts.... hopefully gradual and methodical over a decent sized time frame.
Oh Topps is racist against Asians because....well, they don't hire Asian talent scouts? Sorry topps...it's 2022...time to send scouts to Asian countries because....they play baseball there too.

Congrats on the fun buy. He looks really good. I hope that the print runs are low enough that it works out and you make a killing 🤞

Yet another informative and well presented video Scottie! Keep up the fantastic work!

Pulled a Shane Baz 87 Topps auto black in my jumbo box. Very pleased. May try to grab a Witt or Rodriguez SP at some point.

I would move all pitchers down they are just so injury prone and hitters even if lesser talents sell better
Jeremy Peña will be rookie of the year. They’re probably holding him back for update series.
LMAO
It's going to be Julio Rodriguez.

He's looking solid!
One day we will all regret not buying more of the JRod SP. “I remember when you could buy that card raw for $250-$300”
So will this always be considered his true rookie! Or will it go to update?
