THANK YOU for this ONE panel duster tutorial ❤. I did the foundation dc row and the stacked sc between rows as shown, but (small confession), I’m too lazy to do a FOUR row repeat, so I just did V-stitch throughout 😂.

I just stumbled across you channel and was looking for a cardigan to make for myself. You explained everything very well. Your work is beautiful. Thank you.
Hello everyone, several people have noticed a discrepancy with the number of rows in the BACK panel. In the video, the instructions state that the back panel is 26 rows total, however, upon going back to the cardigan and re-counting the rows, I realized that number is incorrect. The back panel is actually 35 rows, which is the 15 rows of front panel (x2) + 5 rows for the neck space. I am sorry for this error in my instructions and for any confusion (or frogging!) this may have caused! 😟Since this is a made-to-measure cardigan, I am hoping most of you took your own measurements and made the cardigan according to your own size, so this error on my part didn't affect your project! Thank you to those of you who caught this error and brought it to my attention!
I already submitted a comment above, but I am so anxious to start this pattern. I wanted to know the needle size type of yarn, and if I don't have that yarn, what alternate yarn can I use. I actually have a yarn here. It is self-contained like a T-shirt yarn. It's not that heavy and I'm wondering if I were to crochet a swatch. What size would I need to do to check this, yarn to make sure that it would work up the same way? The yarn I have is made in Turkey. It's buttercream luxe craft soft knit multi, 3 ounces, 86 grams, 100 percent polyester. They recommend size 9/5.5 mm knitting needles Or size, I/5.5 mm crochet hook. 158 yards. How many yards in total are needed to make this? I apologize, I'm not that savvy on social media, so if this is listed somewhere else, I haven't seen it.
@@SusanPariseau The yarn I used was weight 4, 100% acrylic. The recommended hook size was 5mm but I used a 6mm hook for the project. Regarding the yarn you referenced, I am honestly not sure how that would turn out. As your yarn is polyester, I can't guarantee it will turn out the same. I used 3.5 skeins, and each skein was 407 yards, so roughly 1400 yards. I hope this helps! ☺
Wow yet again another one of your beautiful crochet love watching your channel you have inspired me to have a go thanks for sharing x😂what color yarn are you using
Thank you so much for your comment @jessicakent3100! The yarn I used was from Michael's Caron "Cinnamon Swirl Cakes" Marble yarn. I included a link to the yarn in the description box! ☺
This was an amazing video. I recently crochet a waist length cardigan for the first time. I like the way you taught this and showing the cut out pattern helped. Thank you for sharing your talent and gift! One question, does it matter if the foundation chain is even or odd?
Thank you, and great question @ziondaughter12! For this pattern, the foundation chain needs to be an even number because of the cross stitch double crochet row. That stitch requires even numbers.
Beautiful work! I know to increase or decrease the starting chain to adjust for different sizes, however can you please tell me what the actual multiple is, so that the subsequent rows are not off? Thank you so much!!!
@naomismith3901 Hello and thank you for your comment! There is no multiple, you just need an even number of stitches (if you're using a foundation double crochet row).
@CreochetStateOfMind i just came across your video the other day. I am excited to make this, but I realized that I don't have a lot of the information needed. The yarn information, what size hook are you using? How many skeins of yarn are needed? Are there any alternate yarns that could be used? Your explanations of the process are wonderful. I think I can follow you all the way through from start to finish, making this. I would like to make this for my granddaughter for Christmas, I know she'll love it, and 1 for myself. Do you have other videos on here that I can look for? I can't tell you how much I appreciate your sharing your pattern, and knowledge with all of us. It's a wonderful gift you have not everyone can teach. Stay blessed.
Thank you so much @SusanPariseau. The questions you are asking are in the description of the video (yarns, hook size, amount of skeins). Regarding alternative yarns, I encourage all of my viewers to experiment with different colors, but the tutorial is made with a specific yarn weight, so I cannot guarantee other weights will come out the same. I'm sure your granddaughter will love this - please don't hesitate to ask any questions along the way ☺
Your channel popped up on my feed today for the first time! I LOVE THIS CARDIGAN PATTERN!!!!! I enjoyed your teaching style and the paper graphic to show how to make the cardigan. I am now a new subscriber! Thank you!
@@elaineb1409 Hello, thank you for your comment. Did you mean double crochet (US terms)? If so, I do use double crochet as well as half double crochet stitches in the pattern. The pattern is a 4-row repeat: Rows 1 & 3 are DC rows, row 2 is a cross stitch DC row, and row 4 is a half double crochet row. I just don't use the traditional chain 3 at the end of every DC row because I personally don't like the gaps the chain 3 creates. So instead of chaining 3, I prefer to use the stacked single crochet as an alternative, which keeps my edges straight and gap-less.
Love your work and tutorial!! I love that it is customizable. I can create one for my girls! Question on the sleeve part. Did you work continuous round or did you slip stitch at the end of each round ?
Hi @darlenemarshall975 - you're so welcome! I recommend that you take measurements of your body beforehand to determine the best size for each part of the cardigan. All of my projects are made-to-measure. In the description box on all of my videos, you'll find what parts of your body to measure, and I've also put together a short tutorial on how to measure your body (or someone else) to ensure that all of your future projects fit you perfectly (ua-cam.com/video/kNnRoJzOqzA/v-deo.html). I hope that helps ☺
Hello, I found you when I was looking up cardigans and it’s very easy to follow. I’ve never made a cardigan so the sleeves are a little confusing to me, working it in the round. not sure how to join at the end of each round I guess I could try and figure it out🤪👍
@@zoilaadams4108 hello! Sorry for the late reply! In my upcoming cardigan video tutorial, I am showing how to work the sleeve in the round, specifically, how to join at the end of each round. I hope you will find it helpful! Stay tuned (video to be released tomorrow!) 😊
This Is Absolutely Beautiful ❤️❤️ I've been wanting so badly to make one of these but couldn't find a Tutorial,,,,Thank you so very much for sharing,,,,It truly is So Beautiful, 💓
@KathyBoucher Thank you very much! No stacked single crochet for the first stitch of the HDC BLO row; instead, regular HDC under both loops. So first and last stitch of the HDC BLO is regular HDC under both loops.
Hi @sheilaearl2539 - thank you so much for your comment! I do not have patterns for any of my projects because all of them are made-to-measure. I include how to take your measurements in the description of every one of my videos. If you get stuck at any point, I'm always available to answer any question, and I encourage all of my viewers to put their own personal spin on their projects! ☺
I’ve been looking for months now to make a cardigan . Yours is the most beautiful and the pattern is very easy looking. I started mine and I wasn’t doing very good with my foundation Road double crochet so I simply chained 120 and then I did 120 double crochets but I noticed that the chain edges are tighter. I don’t know how that’s gonna work if I continue I’m on fourth row right now. Any suggestions?
@carlalambert9686 Thank you so much for the nice feedback! When you say tighter, do you mean the foundation row looks smaller/shorter than the rest of the pattern? Meaning is your work looking like it's widening as you work up your rows? If so, that's usually what happens with traditional foundation chains, especially if you have a tighter tension like me (hence why I use the foundation DC row as it creates a stretchier foundation row that is consistent with the rest of the rows). My recommendations if you're not comfortable using the FDC row are: 1) use a hook that's 1mm larger just for the foundation chain, then go back to your regular hook size for the remainder of the project. So if you're using a 6mm hook for your cardigan, use a 7mm hook for the foundation chain only, then go back to the 6mm hook for the rest of the project. 2) work your Row 1 stitches in the back bumps of the foundation row. I hope that helps!
@@CrochetStateofMind Oh okay, thank you so much. I maybe just need to practice the foundation DC. Yes, the stitches are widening up as I go, so I only have the first 4 rows done. and it looks way tighter, I am afraid one side will be looser and one tighter when done thus not hanging evenly. (waiting to hear back-- thanks for being so quick!) I will frog what I have done and start either with a larger hook or try the foundation DC again. Thanks!! :)
Hello Crochet State of Mind pls advise what size your Duster Cardigan is and also how and where to increase for a bigger sizes. Many Thx and stay safe cheers Diane
Hello, thank you for the comment @dianefutcher7166! This sweater cardigan was made to measure (mine was around a medium size in the video), so if you want to go up a size, you would increase the number of chains to make it longer, and you would increase the number of rows to make it larger. Similarly, for the sleeves, if you want them longer, you would increase the number of stitches; and if you want the sleeves looser, you would increase the number of rows. In the description box, I included information on what to measure to make sure it fits you perfectly. I hope this helps! ☺
Beautiful cardigan!! What is the size of the cardigan you made? Do you have a size chart available for the different stitch counts or inches for each of the panels? ❤
Hi @diannes851 - all of my projects are made-to-measure, so it's difficult to tell you what size this one is (likely around a medium size). My goal is to equip all of my viewers with the knowledge on how to measure themselves, so that they will no longer need written patterns. There's nothing worse than purchasing a brand's Large at a store, and finding out that it doesn't fit as well as another brand's Large when you get home. In the description box on all of my videos, you'll find what parts to measure, and I've also put together a short tutorial on how to measure your own body to ensure that all of your future projects fit you perfectly (ua-cam.com/video/kNnRoJzOqzA/v-deo.html). I hope that helps ☺
This is a wonderful pattern. Could you please tell us what amount of yarn you use? I’m still going crazy over crocheting at the age of77. Your work is amazing. Thank you. From the State of New york.
Great instructions and I'm so glad it was just one whole piece. I don't like sewing lots of pieces together. Thank you for providing these instructions! I'm not sure why or how but I think I missed something. Your instructions say 15 rows for each side panel. Your back panel looks like it is 30-32 rows (which makes sense) but you're instructions say only 26. Shouldn't it be 15+15 =30 or 16+16=32? When you are stitching the side panels to the back panel for the shoulders, it looks like there is enough stitches to even leave some space (for the neck I'm assuming). What did I miss?
@terrismith3209 hello and thank you for the comment! After reading your comment I went back and double-checked and you are absolutely correct, there is an error. The back panel is actually 35 rows, not 26! I'm honestly not sure where the 26 came from, definitely a mistake on my part. I went ahead and made a comment in the comment section updating the row count for the back panel so that others are aware of this error. Thank you for catching it and bringing it to my attention, and sorry if this caused any unnecessary frogging!
@@CrochetStateofMindI did frog some rows but not because of the number of rows (I think I should have went to bed early cuz my 4 row repeat became a 2 row repeat for about 6 rows...lmbo). I decided to do 39 for the back panel so it leaves 9 extra. So, not too far off from your adjustment. I really like this pattern! You did a great job with your instructions. I'm not done yet but I'm looking forward to the finished product!!!
Hi @ThatsValencia - I don't have a great answer for you as all of my projects are made-to-measure. For my measurements, I used 3.5 skeins (likely around a medium size). I included what parts of your body to measure in the description box, and I've also made a short tutorial on how to take your body measurements to ensure a perfect fit: ua-cam.com/video/kNnRoJzOqzA/v-deo.html. Hello, thank you for the comment @PurpleDragonFlyWings! This sweater cardigan was made to measure (mine was around a medium size in the video), so if you want to go up or down a size, you would increase/decrease the number of chains to make it longer/shorter, and you would increase/decrease the number of rows to make it larger/smaller. Similarly, for the sleeves, if you want them longer/shorter, you would increase/decrease the number of stitches; and if you want the sleeves looser/tighter, you would increase/decrease the number of rows. In the description box, I included information on what to measure to make sure it fits you perfectly. I hope this helps! ☺
I am a beginner, but I feel confident I could make this with your detailed tutorial. I just have a couple questions. What size is this cardigan? I am sure I will need much larger size, I am just trying to figure out how many more rows to add. Do you have info for the amount of rows for a larger size?
You can absolutely do this @KaleyJohnston!🙂All of my projects are made-to-measure to ensure that all of the items fit perfectly. There's nothing worse than going to a store and buying a Large, and it doesn't fit as well as another brand's Large. I encourage all of you to take your own measurements before starting any project. I included what to measure in the description box, but I've also put together this video tutorial on how to take your measurements: ua-cam.com/video/kNnRoJzOqzA/v-deo.html. I hope you find this helpful! ☺
If you already mentioned this, I apologize... what size cardigan is your tutorial for? Do you tell/list the instructions for other sizes somethere? Thanks!
@@cindyp2181 hello, this cardigan is made to measure, so the size is my own body measurements. If I had to take a guess, I would say it would be anywhere from a Medium to a Large, depending on your body type. All my projects are made to measure, and in the description box I have details on how I obtained the measurements. This is so that anyone can replicate my projects and make them fit their own body, without the need for a pattern. I have a video tutorial coming up in the next few days on how to take body measurements for cardigans/sweaters. I hope that will be helpful!
@CeceNirvana hello, yes, if you want to make it longer, just add more stitches in the foundation chain, and if you want to make it larger/wider, just add more rows. I hope this helps!
@@Bcutebeanieboutique hi! Sorry no, I meant adding more rows; for example for my size, I had 15 rows in the front panels each, and 26 rows in the back panel; if one would like to make the cardigan wider, one would increase the front panel rows to let's say 20 and the back panel to let's say 36 rows (I'm just using those numbers as an example). Adding increase rows would be different as it would change the shape of the cardigan (i.e., from a rectangle to a trapezoid!). I hope that makes sense!
@@blessed1940 You'll want to make the front panel larger by adding more rows. All of my projects are made-to-measure, but I would estimate that my size is around a Medium. As everyone is a different shape and size, I encourage all of my viewers to measure themselves prior to starting the project to ensure a perfect fit. In the description box on all of my videos, you'll find what parts to measure, and I've also put together a short tutorial on how to measure your own body to ensure that all of your future projects fit you perfectly (ua-cam.com/video/kNnRoJzOqzA/v-deo.html). @@ninascudder2366 hello and thank you for your comment! 😊 This cardigan is made to measure, so you will need to take a measuring tape and measure from the top of your shoulder to your thigh (wherever you want it on your thigh). Once you have that measurement, you can then create a foundation chain that is as long as the shoulder-to-thigh measurement you just took. So the number of chains you need to make it shorter depends on your own body measurements. I hope that makes sense!

They recommend size 9/5.5 mm knitting needles
Or size, I/5.5 mm crochet hook.
Beautifully done! ❤

Thank you! I love this!
You're so welcome @leannolson1982! ☺
I'm sure your granddaughter will love this - please don't hesitate to ask any questions along the way ☺
@CrochetStateofMind thank you. Have a blessed day.

Mine too. Just started watching.. that’s not a doubt crochet stitch though. I like 😢.

Best tutorial ever! One question: on the BLO row you don’t do stacked single crochet but go directly to HDC with both stitches?
@KathyBoucher Thank you very much! No stacked single crochet for the first stitch of the HDC BLO row; instead, regular HDC under both loops. So first and last stitch of the HDC BLO is regular HDC under both loops.

This is a wonderful pattern. Could you please tell us what amount of yarn you use? I’m still going crazy over crocheting at the age of77. Your work is amazing. Thank you. From the State of New york.
Thank you so much for your kind words @elizabethtravis5684 ☺ I used 3.5 skeins of yarn for this cardigan.

Hello, i would like to make this vest but only knee length. Would i just adjust the foundation chain row?
@emilyross5499 Hello, yes, to make it shorter, you would adjust the foundation row to less stitches.
How would you make this cardigan bigger? Just make more stitches in the first row?
@CeceNirvana hello, yes, if you want to make it longer, just add more stitches in the foundation chain, and if you want to make it larger/wider, just add more rows. I hope this helps!
Hey hun I was reading the comments on how to make it wider, did you mean to add more increase rows?
@@Bcutebeanieboutique hi! Sorry no, I meant adding more rows; for example for my size, I had 15 rows in the front panels each, and 26 rows in the back panel; if one would like to make the cardigan wider, one would increase the front panel rows to let's say 20 and the back panel to let's say 36 rows (I'm just using those numbers as an example). Adding increase rows would be different as it would change the shape of the cardigan (i.e., from a rectangle to a trapezoid!). I hope that makes sense!
😮@CrochetStateofMind I am sorry. Your size is small, large or large? I wear large .so 15 front panel will be ok?

Beautiful tutorial, how many chains would I do to make it shorter, say to the thighs. Thankyou
