I, too, love Old Man Voll. I like how chatting with him makes Frieren smile.

The whole episode is about remembrance. Either through holding to a memory and refreshing it with conversation, building statues, or just coming up with the craziest name possible. I think the stubborn old woman got inspired by Gorilla Worrier to come up with her crazy allies so she could also be remembered. She even call herself stubborn old woman. It is a joke + plays with the theme of this episode.

We're in agreement with you about Voll having likely inspired Himmel to not vocally confess his feelings to Frieren. Not sure "inspired" is the right word, but it is what it is.

He made Himmel realise what awaits Frieren if he confessed and they ended up together 🥲

I agree 100%,this is also my thought about it, he saw how much voll has suffered all this time and maybe he didn't wanted frieren to suffer tht much, so he chose to just love her❤

Old man Voll is one of my favorite minor characters.

Same for me! There are so many good minor yet memorable characters in this show. Old Man Voll, Stolz, Kraft just to name a few ☺️

If we wouldn't die what meaning could we give to our lives?
The scene with the old dwarf was very touching!!!
I like his way to see life :)
And yes, Frieren is actually doing the same as him

Kraft did ask Frieren who she was "before being the mage from the party that defeated the Demon King" and said everybody who knew of his achievements had died and that's why he believed in the Goddess. The implication is that he's lived such a long life that he's probably been a famous hero or an important person more than once, and he's always been eventually forgotten.
Also, the way he acted with Frieren, Stark and Fern shows that he already went through what Frieren is going through a long time ago and he can deal with the shorter lifespan of humans while still appreciating them in the here and now. He even told Frieren that it sounded like she had good friends and she should cherish them, and agreed that she'd get to see them in heaven after she died when she clarified that Heiter had already passed on.
During those six months they spent together he trained Stark and he got to know Fern well enough that he gave her a pendant of the holy symbol of the Goddess because he knew she was a believer and that she had been raised by a priest, and when he said goodbye to them he said he looked forward to seeing Frieren a few centuries later, with the implication that he won't be seeing Fern or Stark ever again because they'll die in no time from his p.o.v., but he was still very nice to them during the time they spent together.

Kraft has led such an eventful life, so it really is very sad that no one remembers him at all. I really hope we see more of him in the future!

At the time Himmel and his party met old man voll he could remember the face, voice and appearance of his wife. He said he couldn't describe it properly. I mean, could you describe the voice of a deceived one accurately to someone who didn't know them? That's why he said, it's his memory alone.

12:50 an anime of Kraft's glorious triumphs is also something I would like, but I think it would have to wait until after the Frieren main story is done. I'm confident we will see more about Kraft eventually.

You have a point about himmel making sure he has all those statue around the country so frieren would not forget his face. maybe that what's he want.

Ikr! That's the thought that came into my mind immediately. He's so particular about his face in all of his statues.

First of all, I'm a little sorry if my English is a little strange because I don't understand English.
Also, please understand if this seems like a long post.
The 16th story, Old Man Voll, was a sad one. He lost his wife, and now he himself is suffering from memory problems.
In modern terms, it would be like Alzheimer's disease.
Old Man Voll has almost forgotten his own wife and is no longer aware of his surroundings.
However, after Old Man voll and Frieren have a pleasant conversation, as they part ways Old Man voll says that he had a dream about his wife, which gives Old Man voll some comfort.
Sein's story after that turned into a joke and I laughed, but...
Even so, I knew Kraft was no ordinary person, but I never imagined he was a hero who saved the world.
This anime has a good balance between seriousness and gags.

The story of Old Man Voll moved me to tears. And you're right, this show really balances the serious stuff and the funny stuff really well. Incredible!
