- here are my fav art books !! they have helped me develop my own voice as an artist and they're so inspiring to read and look at!
🌼 Claire Wendling Forget-Me-Not
The first art book I ever bought back in high school! Claire Wendling’s figural and animal drawings are incredibly dynamic and well-designed. This book mainly contains illustrations of fairy-like creatures and their animal companions and they have been such a treat to study over the years, and I hope to pick up some more of her work in the future!
🎨 J.C. Leyendecker by Laurence S. Cutler and Judy Goffman Cutler
Leyendecker has continued to be a huge source of painting inspo for my own illustration work. This book covers the life and work of this artist, from Art school days, to commercial work for clothing brands, to Saturday Evening Post illustrations, everything is beautifully composed and masterfully painted. I love looking at this book before bed as a way to unwind and avoid looking at my phone 😅
☀️ Art of Tangled by Jeff Kurtti
Tangled is one of my top animated films and the art direction has been a huge inspiration for me for years. Storyboards, concept paintings, character designs, such an interesting look behind the scenes of a beautiful film! (the maximus drawings are probably my fav lol)

Okay not technically an “art book,” it’s a zine but it is a book with art in it 😤 Traditional illustrations by my extremely talented friend Sara! I love the color palette, style, and various character designs and love looking at this zine from time to time, especially when I am prepping to do traditional painting work and need some inspo! If you aren’t already following her, what are you doing???

The first one really reminds me of chris riddell!
I really want to get the art of how to train your dragon 2, the art is one of my favourite things about that movie. Id also like to get the art of wolfwalkers, the animation and backgrounds of that movie is stunning. Ideally id love to get the art of trollhynters but seeing how its being priced now thats unlikely 🥲
