    Hi my name is Phil I started on the footplate on the footplate at edgeley shed on the 4th of April 1961in 1962 I became a fireman i finished my time out at 9A as a driver and I drove a number of 47s in my time Regards Phil.

    I can remember as a 5 year old back then in 2002 I see class 47s on a loco hauled cross country services before they got replaced by the voyagers

    Best sounding for me is the Deltic, Whistler's and the 47's.Nice to reminisce, great vid.

    Opinions: Having spent more miles behind a Brush Type Four than I could realistically recall, listening to them in these videos doesn't sound the same. I appreciate the age of the equipment.

    Didn’t know that 47 could pull MK3 coaches with DVT on the rear don’t they require 3phase power to run AC units thought only Class 43 or 91 could provide this ?
