    I was really aggravated yesterday trying to assemble the C3 connector on my 02 Dakota Sport. I decided today to youtube it and ran across your video. I felt like an idiot at first, but was also relieved at the same time after watching this video. You are a life saver sir...Thank you for posting this video!!!!!

    How do you know what colour goes to what pin ? Looks like there are several wires which are the same colours going into different pins

    • @StockyBaldman
      @StockyBaldman  Рік тому +3

      Every wire has a different colour line on it. There might be a green wire with a black line and a green wire with a white line. There’s also a chart in the manual that tells you which colour combo goes with what location on the connector.

    I need to remove one pin and try to clean it out because a piece of solid copper that I used as a probe broke off in it. Next time i'll use stranded or better yet a real probe.

      Yeah, I bought a harness from a half ton dodge ram also a 1996 like mine and the wires were totally different. If you Google PCM pin out chart for that truck, you should be able to determine the pin locations.

    I have a 2012 ram3500 that my dog chewed the harness in two about 6 inches behind this plug underneath the driver side door. Most of the wires are green with nothing distinguishing them apart. While others are clearly identifiable. How would i go about figuring which green wire connects to which to simply put it back together? Or does it matter with the green wires?

    My grandson just bought a 2000 Dakota and its having a no buss issue right now. Who ever owned it before put a lot of money into it new coil packs, tps sensor, relays etc. And still has a problem. I am starting to think that this might have something to do with it. So yes this video helps a lot on how the plugs can be disassembled and put back together. Thanks

      Another thing you can check:
      Symptom: Engine will not start. Gauges are inoperative. NO BUS message displayed on odometer.
      Problem 1 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor.
      Problem 2 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor
      Problem 3 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor
      Problem 4 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
      Problem 5 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted wire..
      Problem 6 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Governor Pressure Sensor.
      Also check your grounds on the heads/firewall and fenders. And lastly as mentioned by the video above , the PCM may have broken solder joints due to heating and cooling of the main PCB. Not to blame Dodge/Chrysler, this is a pretty common problem with many electronic devices now using lead free solder. Any electronics that gets hot then cools is going to flex the main PCB and break the non lead solder that is used in electronics.

      @@bobsoft thanks for the info, who ever owned it before has already replaced the tps, map sensors coil packs. The only thing that I have found that they haven't replaced is the cam and crankshaft sensor. I looked at them yesterday and unplugged and plugged them back inyesterday after it shut down, after doing this
      it didn't shut down anymore so I think that this may be the problem. I told my grandson they should have started with the cam and crank sensors. He said it was a young guy that owned it, I kinda think he was using the parts cannon method of trying to fix it. Lol We are going to replace them and see what happens. But thanks for the info, if this don't work I will check out some of your other suggestions.

      @@jeffarp7409 The ECM is a common cause of the NO BUS. I posted a link for you but it got deleted. I own a 2002 Dakota and one day I know I will have to rebuild the computer.

      @@bobsoft thanks for the effort anyway, we are going to replace the cam and crank sensors tomorrow maybe that will fix it for now hopefully. I got a buddy that works at O'rileys when I told him what truck he had, keep in mind he's a dodge guy like myself. The first thing he said was sell it. He said that they have a lot of problems out of those year models. I'm kinda starting to think he may be right. But we are going to keep swinging at it until it whoops me or I whoop it. Lol

    QUESTION, I think I may have cracked the clip that holds the plugs in place, on my Jeep, it looks the same as this one.. do you think I can just tape them to the PCM? I don't think they would wiggle out anyways. But, I wonder lol. I don't know how you do it, I'm terrified to unplug the damn pcm, let alone do the types of repairs you have done! I thought I had figured out how to unplug the thing, but someone had a video with a different style plug smh. I think I just needed to depress the clip and pull the plugs out of the PCM, but I am pretty sure I cracked them off the plugs, cause they're just loose now.. but I don't even see where they clipped in to, you have to see it too know wth I'm even talking about but lol. Hopefully I don't have to replace them entirely..

    • @StockyBaldman
      @StockyBaldman  Рік тому +1

      Yeah it’s tough to say without seeing it. Mine had a clip on the top and bottom that you use your thumb and index finger to undo both of them. Are both of yours broken?

    • @foxmulder7616
      @foxmulder7616 Рік тому

      No thankfully! I didn't see the bottom one until I used a mirror 🪞. I'll have to try to depress that bottom one and hopefully that will do the trick. It doesn't even really seem like the top ones are broken really, there's nothing that it clips into, it seems more like the plastic clip pops onto a metal square, it's hard to see though lol smh they could've made the things a little easier to figure out how to unplug geez. I thought it would be easy, just unplug, unscrew, rescrew and replug lol oh well, I may have to bring it in and have someone else put it in for me , if I can't get it.

      Yeah I think you’re right it’s best to air on the side of caution. Hopefully it’s a simple fix, you might want to show some pictures of it to people on a forum for jeeps and see what they have to say. With me not being a mechanic unfortunately I can’t give you any specific good advice
