I'm a mechanical engineer, so I'm not familiar with concrete and rebar, but I imagine if this were possible, then only at a smaller scale, with more pillars and a lot of changes in the design. When you look at all the existing skyscrapers shown, not a single one bridges a gap greater than 100m, let alone 2km. All of them are either a bridge-like, or a counter lever structure, and all of them are straight, with no curves. Also, I don't see why it has to be so high up, the main advantage of this is not restricting traffic below, which could be achieved even with 50m of height. I can presume this could work if the pillars were close enough to each other that you could draw a straight line from one to another without going outside the boundary of the doughnut shape of the carried structure. If there are any civil engineers here, I would love to read your take on this.
The super structure would have to be steel. Or more realistically some metal not yet developed. Think a trussel or suspension bridge. In any case this is not remotely possible with today's technology.
I`d assume it would be an interior square with a circular facade... Not being familiar with the area in its current iteration as its been a few years since I was last in the Burj Kalifa/Dubai Mall area of Dubai. That area had no real car traffic. Without watching the video but just knowing the layout of the area (as it was) this would just follow the outline of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Blvd which is already circular and the only surface streets off the Blvd lead only lead to building entrances and parking. Looking at the concept from opening the structure and base is located completely inside Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Blvd and Financial Center Road... That area is a showcase area. You`ve got the 3rd biggest mall in the world, the tallest building in the world, one of the largest fountains in the world, the Dubai Opera House, a ton of 5+ star hotels and multi-million dollar residences so the main concern would be... The view.
Yes, I think it should have *at least* 6 pillars, but more likely 8. That said, it would be a very cool structure... Maybe literally, since there are thin sheets of material that can radiate infrared into space. I'm thinking that a cooling sheet made from this material could be stretched across, inside the ring, with a large circle cut out in the middle for the Birj Khalifa. Cool air would be made above (and below) the sheet, and the cool air above would flow down the sheet toward the hole in the middle. Yes, there would have to be slits cut in the sheet to let rain fall through. Some of the cool air would also fall through, and that should make it more *efficient* at cooling the air. The cool air would *air condition* the city below, using no electricity.

They definitely did not ask themselfs "how it can be done" :) 2,5 km between colums without other support.. to put it very very mildly.. is a stretch..
@@biges7245 You're right, of course. A truly strong ring in tension holding compression ribs together might work for the round structure, at least theoretically. Directing gravity forces from that ring onto the spindly legs presents another.
The vedio impressed me. It is very beautiful and amazing.

2030, Dubai's Circle...
Love how Dubai and lots of asia are building mega structures that cost trillions while half of Asia is living in poverty and can hardly afford to live.. but it’s okay because the rich Asian dudes are Muslim and pray for the poor. 😂
You've just described planet earth in a nutshell.
Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia are giving millions of money to poor country's like Africa and Asia.
And those mega projects are to bring more money and more economy
Excellent vedio.thank u sharing us.
omg, i hope they don't do that, it doesn't fit into the downtown at all and would completely destroy the image of the tower.
Well am not against the project but I agree with your point, I think they should make it a tourist destination point similar to Burj Khalifa.
I feel like I've dreamt of this place before. I walked on a massive floating park
