Y’all. This worked better than the natural deodorant I buy from the store!!! After a complete 30 min workout, there was no smell. I didn’t believe the people in the comments. You know how some people just want something to work because it’s natural? I thought those were the people in the comments. Nope, this recipe works. Kept me stink free ALL DAY!! I used the double boiler method and added less coconut oil so it isn’t as greasy. Then added the essential oils: lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus. Took all of 10-15 min.
Ladies try not to put the Shea butter in the microwave. Use a double boiler method to gently melt it down that way you do not disturb or destroy the nutrients and benefits of it.
I was going to say that, thanks
Do this with all oils !!!
Hey Martha, I just made this recipe a few days ago and It is AMAZING!! It works soooooo well for me. Def. better than the store bought stuff as well. I couldn't believe it. And the way it melts into my skin. LOVE IT!! I love it SO much that I've made a few batches to give away as gifts to friends as well. THANK YOU for sharing this
Love this recipe, but a couple of questions:
1. Why don't you use beeswax?
2. Have you ever managed to make a stick version that works?
3. Are you able to provide the ingredients in terms of grams? 1 TBLS can be interpreted as heaped or not, so its a little hard to get the exact measurements. Thank you!!
My partner and I have Been using her recipe for the last month and love it!
We love how we know exactly what we’re putting onto our body!
Our underarms have not turned darker, so I’ll be using baking soda until I see anything negative ( which I doubt ☺️)
Thank you for sharing this recipe!!
Thank you Jennifer! and you know that in case the baking soda gives you issues, you can always use magnesium hydroxide powder!
If you just melt the coconut oil , and the others to melt by stirring.
Then when it is cooled and have a Light skin, start to whip for 5 min. Put back in fridge for 5 minutes take out whip and slowly add dry ingredients. Whip and whip until very fluffy, add essential oils and whip. When it is two three times the size, spritz into jag, you Will not regnet this deodorant!!😉
Bergamot is also very good essential oil to add, smells great. Thanks for sharing this video
I made this twice now as it’s great 👍 many thanks for sharing xx
I also love it, it's by far one of my favourite and most successful diys!
Works beautifully with magnesium hydroxide! I used coconut and olive oil. I will try shea butter next. I added tea tree and rose oil! Smells sooooo great! Thank you!
This was a lovely straight forward recipe. I appreciate your mission and style. Thank you so much
This is my second time around using this recipe! It works WONDERFULLY! I double boiled it the first time and have since gotten a microwave which makes is so super easy!!
How long is it effective during the day and do you need to repeat it several times a day? Did it lead to the closing of pores or any darkening of the armpit?
Thanks! I tried using just baking soda and coconut oil, and it turned my pits darker. Had been using just baking soda as natural deodorant for a year, and it wasn't that great for my skin in the area. I like your recipe better.
Merci❤❤❤
such helpful content! beautiful editing!
I used only coconut oil and baking soda. It worked perfectly and better than the market bought deodorant.
The only issue is that if you sweat a lot outside then you may take an extra t-shirt or shirt so that you can change your t-shirt after sweating a lot because there is no deodorant on the t-shirt and after a while the t-shirt starts to smell like sweat because of the bacteria on the t-shirt.
*Much Appreciated KudOsW...*
Great recipe, Marta. Thank you.
I'm very happy with your suggestion for magnesium hydroxide!
I use and LOVE this recipe, but also would love if you can give us a recipe for a solid bar deodorant, I have seen so many online, but I put my trust on yours, that I like the most! ;)
Beeswax makes it more solid.
How much beeswax would you add to this recipe?
I just finished making this and I'm really excited to try this! I hope it works for me as well as it works for the rest of you!
I've used this deodorant for several months. I've made it quite a few times. I LOVE IT!!! I prefer it to my 30$ deodorant. I've even made it for friends and family!

If Baking Soda irritates, I use diatomaceous earth in its place but I use 1T..
I want to say thank you for this lovey tutorial. I made it the very next day. The consistency is perfect, and I really like the smell. Unfortunately it didn't keep my underarms from being stinky. I have not used store bought deodorant for quite some time, but I'm having a difficult time finding homemade deodorant that feels nice on my skin, AND keeps me from being stinky. Very nice video, and I appreciate the recipe :)
Try putting it on at night before you sleep!
Maybe a little tea tree oil.
Change what you are eating and take some chlorophyll. Our body exerts what we ingest.
Thank you💚
Lovely that is, cheers for sharing. What readily available stuff can you use in place of the Arrow root powder please?
Corn starch is a good replacement if you can’t find arrowroot!
@@yayyay1715 cheers
Thankyou
hello, I wonder if I can substitute magnesium hydroxide powder with magnesium chloride( grinded to powder) ? is there much of a difference in between those two. thanks in advance for the reply. ciao :)
Ciao Marta
Vorrei provare a fare il tuo deodorante
Sono allergica al cocco: posso usare solo il burro di Karite' o non è sufficiente ? Grazie mille e complimenti!
I’m allergic to coconut too. If I remember, I’ll try this recipe and respond back to you. I know you asked this 3 yrs ago but 1)you never know and 2) it would be good for someone else to see
I just made this, I used lemongrass oil
Hi Martha, thank you so much for sharing this recipe, I would like to know if there is a replacement for the baking soda, because it’s really bad for me. 💐🌷🌸
yes absolutely! I use magnesium hydroxide: amzn.to/2YftAaH
Hello! Can I use zinc oxide?
@@МеруертАдилжанова-б4д i do not use baking soda in my deos. there is not need for it, if you add a good clay. hope this helps. i first learned to make deos several years ago, and i developed my own recipe. no aluminium, baking soda or harsh chemicals.
@@richardlo1330 Can you share your recipe that works for you please?
@@shusha50 bentonite clay, zinc oxide, coconut oil, bees wax.
Merci❤❤❤
Beautiful ❤️
It’s looks better than mine lol mine is yellow because my Shea butter is yellow!
Very nice mam.
What if we use fragrance oil instead of essential oil?
Can I skip the essential oil part?
Super..
What kind of coconut oil do you use?
Could I use kucum butter instead of Shea butter
your website link doesn't work but great video
hi, i love your channel! Is there an alternative of the arrowroot powder?
i want to make this recipe im so excited! greetings from Mexico :)
thank you! corn starch is a good alternative :)
Hello there :) im based in the Philippines, and shea butter is scarce here, is there alternative that i can use?
Mango butter is an excellent substitute!
Hello! I’m also from the Philippines! I’ve made this deodorant a couple of times and I got my shea butter/mango butter from suppliers on Shopee! I get all my raw materials (even the ingredients needed for Marta’s shampoo bar recipe) from Shopee. Too bad they don’t ship zero waste though, I just recycle all containers or eco brick the plastic bags :)
She Badoodles thank you for the reply. May i know the shop in shoppee so i can try their products too.
@@rjhirang9370 I buy my shea butter, essential oils, carrier oil, waxes, clays and powders from cedar alley enterprise via shopee (shopee.ph/cedaralleyenterprise?smtt=0.0.9) Their products are not the cheapest on Shopee but their they’re really worth it for the quality and packaging. Their shop, I’ve found, is the cheapest shea butter that comes with the best packaging. Their Shea butter are in flat tubs (like the body butter containers from The Body Shop, if you’re familiar) and I simply reuse them for other diy projects. There are other suppliers actually in Shopee that sells butters, but they’re sometimes packaged in plastic bags that’s not sealed properly and given our humid climate, tends to leak when the butters melt while in transit. :(
Haha btw I’m not affiliated with cedar valley. I’ve just had better shopping experience from them compared to other sellers on Shopee.
you just ruin it in the microwave
Hi there, Love your work!!! I need help in holding it solid in temp above 40c. Any tip or reference will be highly appreciated.. thanks
Add some wax and remove some shea butter :)
Hi! I’ve tried this and absolutely love it! But sometimes I find it is a bit sandy or grainy. Is there a way to fix that? Cause it almost feel like I am exfoliating my armpits 🙈
It only happened once to me and it's usually due to the fatty acids in the butter solidifying slowly and therefore forming little grains - this usually can be avoided by melting the shea butter at bain marie until you are completely sure it's all melted (no little bits left behind) and placing the deodorant to solidify in the freezer a similar concept/technique is often used in chocolate making and is called tempering. Do you do this step or do you leave it to cool at room temp?
@@BottegaZeroWaste thank you SO MUCH for your answer! Yes, I do, Bain Marie and tempering. It doesn’t happen every time, sometimes it’s super smooth and some others horribly Sandy. Is it possible to somehow filter the mixture with a cheese cloth or something like that or is the problem arising when it solidifies only? 🙏🏻
@@nataliamonnard2323 I don't think that will help...try to melt for longer, sometimes that helps!
does it melt in the sun?
The deodorant is fantastic! How can I make it more creamy? Maybe I did something wrong and it's very hard 😓
Ciao Martina, I have posted the new recipe on my Instagram ( I might have replied to you already but posting here too!) Basically the new recipe involves an extra tablespoon of shea butter. xx
@@BottegaZeroWaste yes Marta, thank you so much! Very kind!
@@BottegaZeroWaste Hi, if I make it with 1 tablespoon, can it be poured into a solid deodorant container? Thanks.
i saw recently you have 2 TBS shea butter but here you have 1 TBS . can you use 2?
Yes I have updated the recipe to make it softer!
@@BottegaZeroWaste i tried it and omg i love it. i'm never buying store brand deodorant again :)
Can I swap the coconut oil for cacao butter ?
The deodorant will be hard and you will not have the same result, but you can try!
How to I make to get a 4oz bottle filled? Do I just double the recipe?
Yes
Can i use baking powder here instead of baking soda ?
No they are different things!
Can you use cornstarch?
definitely :)
How long is this good for? Does it expire?
You should be good for about 6 monhts unless you run out before!
Sorry to ask but want is dis use for
deodorant - to deodorise your pits I guess :D
For those who have tries this, does this make your underarm dark?
this might happen with baking soda. You can avoid this by using magnesium hydroxide powder: amzn.to/3hdeIjC
@@BottegaZeroWaste is magnesium hydroxide an alternative for baking soda or do I add both?
@@adwaithabinu6703 yes magnesium hydroxide powder is an alternative for baking soda!
What size tin is this?
B San hello! It’s 60 grams :)
Bottega Zero Waste do you fill it up to 60 grams???
I just powder on baking soda. Haven’t had BO in 3 months
Shelf life ??
How long will that deodorant last?
6 months for sure if kept in good conditions:) same for the whipped body butter
Thankyou so much for answering my questions!! 😊🙏
Hi does it stain your clothes? =)
